Fan Causes Controversy at Cuba game

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Mar 10, 2006 -> 07:06 PM) So let's think big here. How high of a seed could Indiana get should they beat Ohio State? Could they get as high as a 6? Where do you think they are now? I just want to move out of the 8-9 position they have us at in Bracketology. I'm not expecting a BTT trophy this weekend, but we do have the opportunity to move up from our 8 spot. -
QUOTE(WhiteSox311 @ Mar 10, 2006 -> 04:33 PM) Rowand to be on the show as a correspondent today and he'll pry get asked about the white sox. Nope. Correspondent is when they do a video kind of narrating what's going on. He was just introducing Rome to the guys on the team.

First half was brutal, but you can basically throw that out the window being that it was a push and the first action both teams saw in a week. The offense definitely turned it on in the 2nd half. I was really pleased to see that. Killingsworth has been playing real smart ball in this winning streak; 20 and 12 for him on the day. And Strick's been Mr. Consistent during this stretch, hitting another 16. We get another crack at tOSU tomorrow in the game at 4 on CBS. Should be interesting, we just snuck by him at home earlier in conference play. We've got a bit of a home court advantage playing in Conseco, and the teams both play a real similar style of game. Should be fun. -

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Mar 10, 2006 -> 01:56 PM) Imho, greasy's right. It's not that the idea's bad, and baseball could pull it off -- if they were willing to shorten the season. As it is, many of the best players are missing and the rest are just rounding into shape, the pitchers have these tight limits, and all the games are one-and-done. That's not baseball -- there's a reason series go for multiple games. Noone's saying the players (especially the unknowns) aren't playing hard. But the whole thing was designed badly, to be a sideshow underneath MLB, and that's what it's become. The US gets beat by Canada in a game where most of the players are in st shape, and the media want me to think that's a shocking upset. Have you seen spring training games? Hell, do you watch baseball ever? The Royals can beat the living hell out of the Sox one day, everyone knows that. Exactly, your last point is something I brought up the other day too. The Sox lost to every team they played at least once, with the exception of the Astros, and they're the World Champions. You've got to put the WBC into perspective of how baseball works. I just can't get excited about that. I'll continue watching the real March Madness in basketball and White Sox ST games.

Blows for Penn State. They had the lead all but 15 minutes of the game, but they're going home. tOSU will play the winner of the next game between IU and Wiscy. Final score of 63-56. -

I thought we'd want to see tOSU play NW to get a good game. Penn State's still holding their own early in the 2nd half; they've pushed their lead to 10, 35-25. -

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 10, 2006 -> 01:01 PM) You know what I just realized. I may be the only person on here that goes to a school that won a national championship whlie they attended said school. I'm guessing maybe a few OSU people went there when they won a National Championship. Just had to say this since Fullerton's cinderalla dream ended last night with a last second loss to arch rival Long Beach State. Soccer. [Cues Snb's Bobby Hill AM] -

How many games will the sox win this year?
greasywheels121 replied to POPPY_HIDALGO's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(POPPY_HIDALGO @ Mar 10, 2006 -> 11:20 AM) I see the Sox winning somewhere between 110 and 120 games this year. The rotation is that solid and the everyday lineup is easily one of the best in the league and by the end of the season might be looked at as one of the greatest of all time. So how well do you all see them doing this year? Who are you and what have you done with the real Poppy Hildago? -

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 10, 2006 -> 11:05 AM) It's official, NCAA is a joke once again. Ohio State gets a slap on the wrist considering the crimes, a 3 year probation period and a loss of 1 basketball scholarship. Of course, it LOOKS tough, but considering what they did it's very little. No postseason bans, and the 1 scholly loss won't affect the Thad 5. If anybody other than one of the main cash cows did this, it would be a death penalty like punishment. *Sighs* man does the NCAA suck, I just wish everybody was treated the same way. Well it was definitely a pipe dream, but it kills any hope of it now. Thad was the candidate I wanted most to be the next IU coach. A postseason ban would have been the only way that could have ever really happened. -

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 10, 2006 -> 10:35 AM) I think Josh Fields should be our starting thirdbaseman this year. Joe Crede has sucked balls all spring and Josh Fields has been great, what ever happened to a player earning his spot during the spring? Crede should not get a free pass, it's pretty obvious that he needs some work in AAA still because his back is still bothering him. Josh Fields has 3 HRs off minor league pitching in Tucson that should be worth a starting job in the bigs. It sure wouldn't hurt anything.

QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 11:31 PM) The more I hear Carl and Frank talk, the more respect I have for Ozzie for making the clubhouse get along so well last year. This also makes me like guys like PK and Thome more. Those are classy players who make it easy to root for them. Yeah, thank god he saved us from that full organizational collapse that was taking place. And I have no problem with what Carl said. We all know he likes to speak his mind, and he did just that here. I wish him the best in the future. -
The WBC is definitely a joke. I just don't get how you can take it seriously. In the PHT forum, a lot of people are in the camp that it's just ST, and the players are just getting their work in, etc. You can't just turn around and expect that much more from anyone in this fake tournament. It's their ST too. That's why this thing is never going to work. MLB's season is too long (not that I'm complaining) for this to ever work.

Hey Rex, if you're willing to wait a little bit, I'd be able to make you something. I'm going home tomorrow night, and I won't have access to Photoshop until I come back next weekend. Give me a couple names you'd be interested in having in the sig, and then I'll take it from there when I can use Photoshop again.

QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 04:38 PM) Now does this mean Cintron will replace Gooch after this year and have Uribe move over to second? We still have the option on next year with Gooch. -
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 08:18 AM) Great interview. I am glad to see CSR getting an interview like Jim Thome. ^^^ Thome's going to be a great guy for the Sox. I'm looking forward to seeing him in the lineup for the next few years.

Honestly, it's really not going to matter who's going to remain with Borch and Gload. Neither is really going to help or hurt us immensely. If they're getting major PT, something seriously went wrong. -

QUOTE(MarlinFan84 @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 12:45 PM) It's been my experience that BCS teams dont want to play teams from the valley...you really think someone wants to go into the SIU Arena, or Qwest Center, or Carver Arena, or the UNI Dome...places where the home team almost always comes out on top? This dude says the Valley schools are ducking him? I say the BCS needs to grow some grapefruits and play the MVC. I have long wanted a MVC/Big 10 challenge, much in the same vein as in the ACC/Big 10 challenge, except all games on neutral courts(like the family arena in st. charles, MO), with the worst team in the big 10 from the previous season not able to compete. I have sent letters to the offices of both conferences. Detailed, well thought out, letters. The MVC is getting stronger and much more exposed(and overall play) without the BCS schools, so they might as well take their licks now before they get introduced come tourney time. It's mentioned earlier in the thread, but recently IU signed a contract with SIU to do a home/away/neutral deal. The first game being in Bloomington in the upcoming season, and the second at SIU, and a third game at a neutral arena. http://www.thesouthern.com/articles/2006/0...ts/10004880.txt
