To one of the more loyal Sox fans on the board--Have a great one!
-
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 09:15 AM) He looks like he's 5'6' or something there.
-
Well maybe those action shots of Bobby were just taken at the worst possible time. He really doesn't look much different than he did last October in that studio shot.

QUOTE(fathom @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 11:29 PM) That's exactly the point I was trying to make before. I don't think he would have been here if he didn't care. However, I also thought he cared more than saying he wouldn't have wanted to participate in the events. My hope is that Thome hits 35 homers this year, and makes KW, the general manager, look good. It's just him being immature, trying to say something spiteful. You know he appreciated all of it, and the fans certainly did. Both parties just need to move on. People on here do too. KW and Frank apologists both.

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 11:27 PM) In my mind, he is gaining favor at this point. Obviously we don't know who the true candidates are and may never know completely, but I am liking Crean more and more. Not totally against Alford, but not pro-Alford either. I was telling Boz earlier that I'm really liking Crean too. Matta's my favorite, but tOSU sanctions are the only way that will happen. And I will never accept Alford as a choice at this point in time. We can do much better than that.

Do you honestly feel he would've ridden on the bench as a non-active, if he didn't give a s*** about the team during the playoffs? He didn't have to be here. He was there by choice.

QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 11:23 PM) I sorta skimmed through this. I agree with what Aboz has said. About this poll, the question should be "IF" he returns, not when. Lets see him step on the field first. When works fine; it necessarily doesn't have to be about him playing against us. This feud won't last forever. There's going to have to be a statue and number retirement sometime.

QUOTE(fathom @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 11:21 PM) Also, I find there to be a huge difference between complaining about a person's actions (like what KW said) and Frank's comments about how he wouldn't have thrown out the first pitch/attend the parade. After all the comments that Frank made about how important getting the ring was, it sure seems like a bunch of bulls*** now. You know he's just angry. Nothing more than that; I can't see him really meaning all that. Do you honestly feel he was just putting on a "politically correct" act at the end of his White Sox tenure? I was watching the WS DVD the other night, and they have footage of him saying stuff on the field right after the World Series was over. Do you honestly believe that the first thing on his mind was to say the perfect thing? I don't think so.

QUOTE(fathom @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 11:20 PM) I've had about 3 posts today where I said KW was completely unprofessional with his comments today. I'm embarrassed with all of this s***, and I think it's a pathetic way to start the season for the defending champions. All I know is that KW and Ozzie can do no wrong with many of us right now, but if they have an unsuccessful season this year, they better get ready to have to defend any stop comments they make with the media. Define unsuccessful. What are you expecting in '06?

:headshake This is lame.

QUOTE(SoxPride56 @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 11:07 PM) LOL you joined in November. You don't even know what that's about.

Why is this still going on? People just need to agree to disagree. The end.

QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 10:19 PM) Whatever happened to quick sand? It used to be a major plot point in so many of my favorite shows (eg. Gilligan's Island, The Incredible Hulk, The Dukes of Hazzard). I remember many a Friday night spent worrying about the fate of Daisy Duke as she slowly sank deeper and deeper into the sand trying to stay as still as possible while keeping an ear out for the General Lee's welcoming horn. Did rapid urbanization of our country's last remaining rural outposts dry up all the quick sand? I can picture a Lassie episode about that.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 09:46 PM) Purdue should already be an easy team. You shouldn't need momentum to beat them if you're a deserving tournament team. And yes, I've factored in that Purdue is your biggest rival. Things are a bit different in this case. This season's been a roller coaster. Everything started out pretty decent, and then DJ got back. We were a top 10 team, and then he goes down again. That did a number on everyone. It got the annual "What's going to happen Davis?" talks the loudest they have ever been. Things have leveled off a little bit since the resignation, because it's just calmed a lot of things. Coach, the players, and the fans are all relieved now. I would say we should be expected to beat Purdue, and I think we can and will. However, with the way this season's gone, nothing is a guarantee. I would love for this team to find those 2 wins and get into the tournament. Anything after that is gravy. I don't expect this to end up with the same happy ending the White Sox just had, but our regular seasons are very analogous thus far. -
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 09:45 PM) Even though Thomas would love to extend the war-of-words, and thus defend his pride, it would probably annoy Williams even more if he shrugged it off. Although I'll say one thing here--I don't want to read articles from anyone within the Chicago media entirely blaming Williams and Reinsdorf, whereas portraying Thomas as innocent. I"ll be upset for one reason: practically the entire media treated Thomas like s*** for years. There attitudes should remain the same of him if there is any consistency. Even during his departure, his accomplishments were practically ignored. We had to endure the articles criticizing him for 10+years of discontent. Mariotti will be back in Chicago. He'll have fun with this.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 09:05 PM) And one thing that's really pissing me off is that it seems people are gonna side with Kenny no matter what because he helped bring us a World Series title and Frank never did. That's the most retarded logic I've ever heard. Half this board wanted Kenny fired when it looked like we might blow a 15 game lead. Haha solid.
-
I'm splitting this out, because that's just thread worthy for all the Bears fans on the site.
-
Haha Crazyman is now a god.
-
Mariotti will get to have his fun with this, now that the Olympics are over too. Yay.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 08:05 PM) Kenny did more to win us a World Series than Frank ever did. Frank's whiny attitude and b****ing won't be missed. I won't shed a tear if he doesn't hit another homer in his career. Haha I'm not sure if that's supposed to be cold hearted or what. I don't think I've ever cried during a Frank HR, and I don't see myself crying if he doesn't hit another either. And you know I can be a Frank apolgist at times.
-
QUOTE(Felix @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 07:49 PM) I'd support him still, but if he keeps talking and trying to get pity, I might just rather do nothing. I'm cool if people say nothing, but it'll take a lot for someone to actually justify booing the man. It's good to see the results of the poll thus far though. At least people can seperate the two sides.

Could Chicago host the 2016 games?
greasywheels121 replied to southsider2k5's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I just want the games to at least be on this side of the hemisphere. I can't get into the games, when I'm constantly watching ESPN or looking at ESPN.com. What's the fun in watching an event when you already know the outcome? -
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 07:34 PM) OK, all except for those 68 are up. I may want to hurt myself after this. Where?

Good post wite. I agree with just about everything you said.
