  1. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 04:21 AM) I love it how everybody is pickin Indiana and MSU to win the Big Ten this year. I think the Illini has got a little somethin in store for them. I haven't really seen any media pick the Hoosiers to win the Big Ten. As far as I've seen, the Illini were picked ahead of them in every publication. So that point doesn't hold much. IU plays the home of "Boom goes the dynamite" tonight, after another long layoff. It could be another interesting in-state battle. I'm just glad to see some basketball again. Stuff really starts kicking back up with the Big Ten starting next week.
  2. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 01:42 AM) Kobe and Artest would be a toxic mix if you ask me. I doubt anything happens. Of course it would be, but the Lakers traded Shaq away, because they thought he was the better option. So they've got great people running that franchise. Kobe and Phil want Artest; it'll go down.
  3. QUOTE(Spiff @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 12:30 AM) take that tennmart They got what they asked for. Their prices are high. http://www.insiderpages.com/profiles/Tenne...TVSarLsTimhH3w/
  4. I think this Kobe-Odom fight will really fuel some talks with the Lakers for Artest.
  5. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 02:27 PM) Crap, this thing has grown from 2 pages to 15 today. Is there actually any news in all of this? Someone please help. This is the only real "news" to come out of this. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?sh...dpost&p=1002133
  6. Hopefully it'd never even come into play, but I'm very comfortable with where we our with our pitching situation right now. I'm having trouble getting excited about losing that; I don't want to lose that asset.
  7. QUOTE(3E8 @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 02:13 PM) Garcia Vazquez Contreras/McCarthy vs. Loiaza Schoeneweis Wright Any noticable difference in reliablility/endurance of these two groups? Yes, we're better off now. I still don't want to imagine what happens if there were to be an injury. We have no legit backup plan.
  8. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 02:11 PM) Greasy, DBah0 and I realize that Gage is a jackass for holding out on us.
  9. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 01:44 PM) Neal 2k6>>>>>>>>>>Neal 2k4. I have no doubt if Neal went into spring training as a starter, he would be solid at it. I also believe Neal could give a team 60-75 pitches if needed in a spot start, and do a pretty damned good job of it. What I don't see is Ozzie losing his only lefty for 4-5 days, when he could just call up someone from the minors to suck up the innings, and leave the rest of his team in tact for those same 4-5 days. I agree about Neal. I'm just saying how pathetic that experiment was in 2004. Bringing pitcher after pitcher up to lose every 5th game. We have 6 Major League starters, and nothing even close in the farm.
  10. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 01:41 PM) Cotts will not be an option to spot start as the team stands now. We have ZERO other MLB LHPs in the pen, and we all know how Ozzie likes to use the lefty on lefty match up. If we had Bmac already in the starting 5, we would dip into the minors for the prospect du jour for a couple of starts. And we all know how fun that was in 2004.
  11. We don't even have Diaz. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...t=.jsp&c_id=cws
  12. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 01:27 PM) A valid point, but it should be weighed against another point...what happens if we lose Contreras for only draft picks at the end of the year, when we could get something immensely more valuable for him right now while we do have him? I'd rather worry about that then. I feel we're in a great position to repeat with the 6 starters we do have. We have absolutely nobody that can fill in.
  13. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 01:15 PM) Marte also hit the DL for a stretch. Also...it's not really that unbelievable for your team to stay that healthy...if you're mostly working with a young team, and you're not overworking people (i.e. Ozzie's "Sunday Lineup" which gave people a chance to sit down, rest, and avoid turning any little tweaks into nagging injuries) Position players don't scare me. I'm talking about the rotation. If we lose the security of having that 6th starter, who's going to be the guy to fill-in if an injury were to happen to Garcia, Vazquez etc? Count's too valuable for this team, IMO.
  14. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 01:13 PM) We still have Felix Diaz, don't we? Oh wait... My point exactly.
  15. QUOTE(heirdog @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 01:12 PM) Umm, no. But the sig says: "If the Bears make the Super Bowl, I will have seen it all." So in essence the quote can be interpretted that he has not seen the Bears make the Super Bowl and would like to see that before he is done either with life or with sports. In reality, he has to have seen it all but would like to see MORE. Hope that clears up what I was asking...as it seemed pretty clear to me when I asked. I'd consider seeing the White Sox winning the World Series AND the Bears winning the Super Bowl in the same year to be pretty unthinkable if you ask me.
  16. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 01:03 PM) Are you confident that our pitchers won't get hurt in '06? Who comes in for a start, if Count was traded and we need 3 or 4 starts in a month?
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 01:01 PM) I also think we were lucky to win as many games as we did with our offense last season. I know we've added Thome, but we still have quite a few hitters that can easily bat in the 240-250 range next year. I know it won't happen, but I'm confident in saying we'd all have no problem losing Uribe after seeing what Tejada can produce for the Sox. Are you confident that our pitchers won't get hurt in '06? Who comes in for a start, if Count was traded and we need 3 or 4 starts in a month?
  18. QUOTE(heirdog @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 12:58 PM) Andy the Clown, Thanks for the info to get things stirring on the board. One question not related to the Tejada discussion: In you sig, you say you have "waited 37 years for this" (so I assume you are at least 37 years old) and then you say "if the Bears make the Superbowl..." So weren't you around in 1985-86 when the Bears not only made but won the Superbowl? Are you saying now that the Sox have won it, you're not going to follow them anymore? Is it criminal to want your team to win multiple championships?
  19. Some of you guys don't realize how lucky we were avoiding injuries in '05.
