QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 10:22 PM) Mariotti says that Selig won't delay the ALCS. So, Game 1 on Wednesday. Book it. The one time I hope Mariotti is right.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 10:18 PM) Noone knows yet. Where did you hear the rumor you posted in the ALCS Game 1 thread?

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 03:55 PM) :banghead What was Los' quote? Aruging on an internet message board is like racing in the special olympics. Even if you win, you're still retarded. I'm out. Have a nice day fellas. I'm looking forward to Tuesday when we can just sit back and watch our White Sox play in the ALCS for the first time in many of our lifetimes. Enjoy your Sunday.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 03:15 PM) I haven't seen IU take a single snap this season, but I know they've got Hoepner in there, and they seem to be putting points on the board. You could use a blocking sled for your O-Line, and your QB would still have all day to throw against a zone defense with a 7 yard cushion. I'm sure U of I will be favored, but I'll probably be making a play on IU plus the points. Okay, I could see us beating the spread, but nothing more. Coach Hep's finally got us beating the teams we should be beating, hence the 4-1 record up to this point. Coach Hep would deserve a statue, if he could find 2 more wins somewhere on this schedule though. -
I know this is talking about NFL Viewing, but... If there was ever a downside to the Sox being in the playoffs (AND THERE ISN'T), it would be being forced to watch the rest of the games on Fox. I prefer Berman over anyone that does the Fox playoffs, and that retarded puppet baseball. "A curve ball goes down and in, like this! WAHOOOO!"

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 03:08 PM) Iowa plays a 2 deep zone, and relies on pressure from their front four to force a QB to make bad decisions. Their current D-line is the worst in the Big Ten. When you play like that against a team with a good QB, you're going to get shredded. -- Iowa better watch out next week against Indiana. If they overlook that game at all, and stick with their stupid base defense crap, they're going to end up on the wrong end of a bad upset. It won't happen. I'd be somewhat optimistic about our chances, if it were here. I know we've split our last two appearances there, but we're not going to win in Iowa. -
I hate Fox, and I like CBS. Fox is all about retarded effects, and not the game. Let's look at a replay. "WRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR ZAP! ZAP! ZAP! WRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!" So many f***ing noises.

QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 11:37 AM) Not what I would have done at all. If we lose this series, then Ozzie will be criticized regardless of what happens in Game 4. If Garland pitches great and we win the game, the question will then be why not pitch Garland earlier and give him two starts. If Jon pitches poorly and we lose the game, it's all on Ozzie for giving him such a long rest. I'd much rather switch Buehrle and Garland, especially if we're playing the Yankees. With all that said, I'm done being critical of Ozzie. He's gotten us this far and he knows the team far better than me, so it's probably a good move. I understand your reasoning here. However, what if Garland pitched game 1 or 2 and lost, who's wrong then?

I don't know how Marte's still on the roster. I know everyone's not happy with Garland going early, but I'm happy with the rotation. Garland will obviously throw a simulated game today.

QUOTE(redsoxjamie @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 10:35 AM) Thanks. You guys are cool with me too--my mom's family is from the South Side (although I'm a Bostonian). Still pissed that you guys beat us, though (believe me, if you guys win it all, you will find that the grace period is much shorter than you may think.) Maybe, but right now. if we win it all, we could go 0-162 next year. I want us to get those 8 more wins this October so bad.

QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 09:41 AM) Again, Garland or Contreras is going to pitch game 1 and game 2, in some order. Why does the order even matter? The earlier they pitch in the ALCS, the earlier they can come back and do it again. I don't think we're going to do what we did to Boston here. This will certainly go more than 4.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 09:34 AM) How would you like to go to game 4 with the Sox down 2-1 and Garland on the mound and not thrown a pitch in a game sitaution in two weeks? Could having him come out of the pen in game 1 work?
-
QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 09:01 AM) I'd feel horrible for Garland if they made him wait another week to start. Best pitcher in the regular season and all of a sudden there's no confidence in him starting? WTF? Pity aside, do you think Garland gives us our best chance to go up 1-0 in the ALCS, and is most deserving of 2 starts in the ALCS? Garland had a good year, but I don't think so on either of those questions.

I'm reading all I can on this of late, because I don't want to see anyone else but the Count. Here's what the SunTimes had in the paper today: http://www.suntimes.com/output/sox/cst-spt-soxnt09.html

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 01:04 AM) And if the series never gets to a game 7? You only throw your ACE one time in the series. That doesn't make any sense. I say play to win this thing as quickly as possible, and don't bank on game 7's. Plan for that and you will lose with bullets still in your gun. Exactly why I want to see Count on that bump Tuesday night.
