  1. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 01:42 PM) I wouldn't mind seeing a trade for Huff now. I think I'm in the minority thinking here but I'm kinda glad Frank isn't comming back this season. He is my favorite player of all time but the player I saw this season is not that man. We need a more consistent bat than Frank's in the middle of our lineup. I'm blind to anything negative the guy does, and I agree Kalapse. I got to post this stat one more time though. This is from when he went on the DL on the 21st.
  2. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 01:39 PM) I agree. All these surgeries and recorvery time, plus the risk of re-injury. It may be time for The Hurt to call it a career, unfortunately. Then let the HOF debates begin. I'm almost leaning towards him just retiring now, because it's not worth having him come back again and getting hurt. We'll see. It'd be crazy to hear him retire though. My 2nd favorite athlete (Reggie Miller) just retired last spring. If Frank were to be next, it'd be pretty weird. Anyways, Frank:
  3. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 01:28 PM) If he rebroke it, we have seen the last of Frank in a Sox uniform. We won't pay him that much money to sit out another year. The only way back is if they pay him something with an incentive laced contract for 2007. I just hope that if he is able to play again, it's here. I'd rather see him retire now, maybe prematurely, than play for any other team.
  4. Ouch. I just hope we haven't seen the last of him in a White Sox uniform. Get better big Frank!
  5. QUOTE(BDavisFutureHOF @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 01:10 PM) I was a Yanks game a few years ago where he won it for is with a broken bat bloop single in the bottom of the 9th -- one of the best games I have ever been to -- for a number of different reasons. There was about a 2hr rain delay -- but luckily enough -- we were in a box and were able to keep right on boozin through the delay. After "The Pornstar's" game winning hit we started this really obnoxious drunkin "f*** New York" chant outside the cell and about 100 people or so joined in -- ahhh great times! Ha...Uribe's only been here this year and last.
  6. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 12:30 PM) So he's not in critical condition, he's in good condition. You made it sound much worse than it was. Fixed that.
  7. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 12:18 PM) LMAO @ "could you give me any of the players email addresses..?" I like the first one the best how Ozzie hurt the players' feelings by labeling Iguchi our MVP, and thus, the players are going to lose in spite of him.
  8. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 12:13 PM) IMO its not a if, but a when. But I do think they will get a deal done at a lower price. There's not even an article; it's just part of a Q&A with some pretty lame questions. Here's some of the questions that were submitted and answered:
  9. I just had to bump the most recent HOF thread on Mr. Thomas. ESPN has an article on which 40 current players have the best chance of getting into Cooperstown. Frank's #26 on the list, and this is what they say about him: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story...ld/050729&num=2
  10. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 11:27 PM) To play along... Phil Rogers speculates that Greasy probably ate a ham sandwich, though possibly it was turkey. He also speculates that Greasy may go all out on his next one, possibly opting for a combination roast beef-turkey with a cheddar-colby jack combo, or he could trade this for a beef and bean burrito(he may also wear a cape while doing this ) . Responding to a question by a fan, knightni is looking at a fresh PB&J sandwich to replace his older ham sandwich. Stay tuned for details... Damn this thread turned into a monster. Excellent response wite. And since everyone's dying to know. It was smoked turkey, American cheese, and lettuce on white bread. I think this is a good deal for the Sox and myself.
  11. I never even knew he was releasing anything. Oh wells.
  12. Since we're on ESPN with Baltimore, I just hope he's still gone on Sunday night.
  13. I ate a sandwich today. It was good.
  14. Aaron's stayed on his solid stretch since I last updated; here's his updated stats..... From To G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI TB BB SO SB CS OBP SLG AVG 06/21 07/26 34 130 20 41 3 1 2 12 52 8 28 6 2 .393 .400 .315
  15. Well Sanchez has taken quite a turn for the worse of late. Here's his updated stats.... From To G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI TB BB SO SB CS OBP SLG AVG 06/21 07/26 33 128 17 31 8 1 3 17 50 10 28 6 0 .302 .391 .242
  16. QUOTE(AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 09:59 PM) If it gives us a world series ring, i'd do it... For once I agree with fathom, I think we've got a great shot at making the playoffs and winning the Series this year, but I don't think Burnett's going to better our postiion.
  17. I voted yes. With the HOF inductions going on this weekend, ESPN.com and SI.com have articles on current players and their chances on getting into the hall. Here's what ESPN says about Biggio: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story...ld/050728&num=4 SI.com: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/multimedi.../content.2.html
  18. Congrats on making it that far. I voted for you.
  19. SI.com had an article on who should be buyers and sellers; this is what they wrote about the Sox: They suggested we just stand pat. Right now, it's going to be tough to make a deal with so many teams so close to a playoff spot, but you don't just make a move to make a move. I trust KW.
  20. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 06:28 PM) Stark was on ESPN about this and basically repeated what some here have said, that his contract is too crazy and his impact on the Red Sox too big to trade during the season. Maybe in the offseason to the Mets That's the only thing that could make sense IMO. The Yanks and Mets are about the only teams that can afford that stupid contract, and the Yanks won't have the opportunity to get him from their division rival. The Mets is the only other place he could end up at this point of time. Though as Stark said, it would not happen now.
  21. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 01:50 PM) How about a name like "The Trade Winds" or something like that for this forum... Something about the Inside Beat, just doesn't work for me... Opinions? I don't read a lot on this forum, but I'm just catching up on some stuff. If this forum's going to stick around, that's an excellent name.
  22. I can't wait until the deadline's over, for the sanity of this board.
  23. Glad to see Shingo is still with us.
