  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 08:29 PM) If someone before the season would have told me we'd be 9 games up at the break, with no season-ending injuries, I would have taken that in a heartbeat. Thus, I'll join in this congratulatory thread about the Sox first half of the season. ::Faints:: I'm sorry I had to....
  2. Sorry for my not deciding to be such a downer, but I still can't get over what the Sox have done in the first half. I just kind of want to make this a little congratulatory thread of what the Sox have done up to this point. Not one of us could have fathomed us at being 57-29 at the ASB and having a 9 game lead on Minnesota, giving us the best record in baseball. The pitching's just been stellar, both the rotation and bullpen. A lot of the new guys have played some very important and successful roles in the success of this ballclub: Pods, Iguchi, Dye, Pierzynski, Hermanson, etc. Here's hoping the Sox don't stop here!
  3. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 02:42 PM) Couldn't have said it any better myself. There is no doubt in my mind who our MVP is right now... and it is the guy behind the mask. Not to short anything AJP's done, but I still give the nod to Pods. However, like Hawk was saying in the game today, you can make a case for a lot of the players on this team and not be wrong. That's the key to why we're sitting at 57-29 at the ASB. If we were depending on one player, we wouldn't even be close to where we are now. This is truly a great TEAM.
  4. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 02:52 PM) He throws right handed Bats: Left Throws: Left http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...layer_id=340393
  5. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 02:50 PM) Have we ever seen Gload at 3rd? He's a lefty. That's not happening.
  6. QUOTE(Benchwarmerjim @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 11:37 AM) James the Twins fan checking in here. (dont throw anything at me yet!) Well, its the All Star break and your team is running away with the division. I must give your team some props for an outstanding first half. I kept hoping for some sort of slowdown so my team can catch up, but it never happened. But I also must say, you Sox Fans here... you guys and gals are pretty cool.I had this thought about Sox Fans as just being a beligerant blowhards. Boy I was wrong. A lot of you are very passionate about your team, and a lot of you are very knowledgable about your team, baseball in general, and the whole world. And you cant knock a bunch of folks for that. Im not quite throwing in the towel, but 10 games is a lot of games to make up. But you never know And if your team does make it to the playoffs and my team doesnt, well youll have one person here cheering for ya James ok now you can throw things at me We all appreciate the kind words Jim, and you've been nothing but class. You have to stomach a lot of stuff to be able to post here, and you do a hell of a job. Until it was brought to my attention, I never even realized you were a Twins fan here, though you were always giving us updates on the games.
  7. It's almost like this wasn't just a reward for what he's done this season, it's for what he's done the past few years in a Sox uni. To the Burly-mon!

  9. Haha, I read this yesterday. I can't believe you C&P'd it; that was one of the longest articles I've ever seen on ESPN.com. And for Bartman, he's doing all he can do. People are retarded to pit any of this on him. The Cubs were the ones with Prior and Wood on the mound for games 6 and 7 AT HOME. The Cubs were the ones that bobbled a double play, and the Cubs were the ones that gave up the 8 consequenting runs.
  10. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 10:57 AM) I'll be going to the Saturday game the 24th. Section 300 somthing. It's the 23rd, and I'll be there too.
  11. I had two (personal) goals I wanted the Sox to try to achieve by the ASB, and they can accomplish both with a win today. I wanted to see the Sox at 30 games over .500, and at least 10 games up on the division at the break. Let's go on a tear today, and end a SOLID first half on a high note.
  12. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 10:22 PM) I'd really like to be a fly on the wall in a meeting-room with KW and Ozzie, just to hear what they think about Konerko. He's sure become one streaky hitter, huh? I'd love to wake up on July 31st and see that the following trade went through: Sox send Konerko to Mets, Sweeney and Tracey to Reds, get Dunn from Reds. (Humber to Reds). Ok, I'm dreaming. Still gonna be an interesting couple of weeks ahead. I think we're going to be stuck w/ Konerko for the rest of the season. However, I think basically everyone agrees Konerko's probably gone after '05. At least, he'll leave the team in class, unlike our big FA last year. Man hands!
  13. I really don't know who will get it, but we're safe either way with one of them going. Our rotation was set up after the ASB to have both of them on regular rest, IF they pitched in the ASG. It also sets up Buehrle, Garland, and Garcia pitching the most games against the ALC. Our rotation after the ASB: Contreras Garcia Buehrle Garland El Duque (BMac)
  14. I believe he'll be back right after the ASB. I think Ozzie's going to finally send Willie down. I'd rather have Harris up here, and I'm sure a majority of us still would. However, Ozzie's not going to send Timo down; I don't see that happening.
  15. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 11:39 AM) Saturday start, Monday ASG??? Doubt it. With Halladay hurt and MB starting today, it is gonna be Garland. Tuesday ASG.
  16. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 11:01 AM) thx and what's with the music theme???...not sure I 'get' that. All the themed nights the Sox have. Elvis night, Beatles night, etc. Last night was Rat Pack night.
  17. QUOTE(Spiff @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 11:01 AM) i tried... Haha, that's the most random request ever. Hawk on a college football game.
  18. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 10:49 AM) when will this hit the newstand??? If it's in the next issue, it won't be until about July 20th or so. ESPN mag is an every other week thing, and I ended up getting an issue this week. I'll bump this when I get the magazine.
  19. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 10:24 AM) I shouldn't have said pics. IT was video on Comcast, or maybe ABC 7 news. Ah okay. It would've been cool to see. I get the ESPN Mag, so I'm looking forward to seeing this.
  20. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 10:22 AM) I saw pics of Dye in the pink Sgt. Peppers costume yesterday. Where was that at?
  21. This is from Scott Reifert, Sox' vice president of communications: http://whitesoxpride.mlblogs.com/ EDIT: Reading this guy's blog from time to time, it's safe to say this guy has one of the coolest jobs ever.
  22. QUOTE(3E8 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 10:01 AM) I would absoultely love to have a healthy Zach Day. ^That.^ This obviously wouldn't be KW's only move, but I'd be very happy to have Day here.
  23. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 09:34 AM) I think the batter looks like he has the Jose's stache. That's funny stuff. I can't tell who the batter is, but that's definitely before Man-hands was here. That's Hawk and Wimpy doing the game. I'm positive Lance "One Dog" Johnson's on second though.
