QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 06:29 PM) So where's Steve Phillips going? 7th Heaven.

QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 06:22 PM) Plus it's not worth the difference in the talent we would have to give up to get him... No way they give him up for just Rowand... Dude, Rowand's not going anywhere...Relaaaax.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 04:57 PM) Schmidt - YES Vizquel - YES Griffey - NO This really tickled my spine: "As Chet Coppock reported on Sporting News Radio last Sunday, a Sox investor indicated the team was on the verge of a deal with San Francisco that would send pitcher Jason Schmidt to the South Side, a report another team executive would not deny." BOOYA b****ES! And Ned Colletti, the assistant GM of the Giants said "Trading Jason Schmidt in no way would put this team in a better position. We have no intentions of trading [schmidt]. All talk is just that: talk."

QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 01:56 PM) So much for being the optimist. :headshake

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 01:54 PM) That's all fine and dandy until we lose in the ALCS. Then Kenny will look like a bafoon for trading our top prospects for 3 month rentals. I'm all for trading for Burnett, but only if we can resign him. ^That.^ That's the only thing that makes me reluctant about all this.

I always believe in this team (sometimes too much), but I hate to put a stamp on it. I didn't make a preseason prediction for that reason, because I kind of hate determining our destiny before it happens. It kind of makes the season a waste IMO. I feel we can do this though. Look at our record in series' on the year (it's in Mr. Eye's sig), the playoffs is just a series of series'. I'd have to say I like our chances.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 01:40 PM) If AJ gets traded here expect him to be resigned quickly. Think Freddy or even quicker. I hope so. That's what made the FG trade so great, getting FG locked up.

QUOTE(Balance @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 12:32 PM) I have to thank Hawk and DJ for getting the word out on this website. At last, I've found a ChiSox forum. I'm very happy to be here! Scott Podsednik's winning the fan vote has just confirmed it for me- something special is going on on the South Side this year. We're lucky to be a part of it. I'm looking forward to being a part of this community. Welcome to the best site ever!

Bucks Seeing Redd Through 2011

He'll be in Milwaukee through 2011. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2102454 -
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 11:51 AM) Very good player, just to many years on that contract. I just think we need to forget about past middle infielders from Cleveland for a while. Uribe's more than sufficient enough for the 9 spot, IMO.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 11:48 AM) I don't have my insider subscription anymore but ESPN insider has something on the White Sox possible interest in Omar Vizquel as well as Schmidt. Gah...I know you're not suggesting it, and I don't know who is, but Omar Vizquel?!? :puke

QUOTE(TimoandAaron @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 11:47 AM) hey, i have been posting at WSI for a bit and wanted to check this site out. I was at the game last night and we did a great job with the Standing O for Pods. Welcome to SoxTalk!

QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 11:43 AM) Its one of those grinderball commercials with the guy from 'That 70's Show'...and in addition to mentioning 'wetting themselves', he recommends chanting 'Go Go Go' everytime Pods gets on base...something they did in 1959 when they were the 'Go-Go Sox' http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...radio/index.jsp Here's the radio ads.

It's just so funny how people think Pods isn't deserving because he doesn't have the power numbers or RBIs Jeter has right now. Jeter's numbers, however great they may be, have helped the Yankees hover around .500. Pods on the other hand is a big key to why we're 31 over .500.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 10:12 AM) Queen, I see Greasy and I did a great job of answering your question. Greasy, are you sure it was '74 I thought I heard '75. That's what the SunTimes said at the bottom of this article. http://www.suntimes.com/output/sox/cst-spt-ssep07.html However, I think you've got the right year. The SunTimes is just stupid as always. I just went to Chisox.com They have 1975 as being the 4 man year. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...y/all_stars.jsp

QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 10:04 AM) When was the last time the White Sox had 4 all-stars? It might have already been answered, so if it was...sorry! 1974. Bucky Dent, Rich Gossage, Jim Kaat and Jorge Orta represented the Sox.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 09:49 AM) Happy Birthday to both Tmar28 and Anthraxfan93! Someone else would like to wish you a happy birthday today, but he is feeling a little under the weather...er...radar. Anthrax ain't going to like that..... Have a good one!

QUOTE(shadowspy1 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 08:17 AM) I think that Gooch has a real good shot at becoming Rookie of the Year. Welcome to SoxTalk! -
I read somewhere that our attendance is going to be AT LEAST 1.85M as it stands today. That's basically where we've been at in attendance the past couple years. There's no doubt it's going to surpass that though.

QUOTE(whitesox91403 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 03:08 AM) Pretty sure Maggs was last man in one season too. I thought that was 2003 when Everett got in as A White Sox after being with a team a couple weeks. Maggs was on the final ballot in 02. I have no idea who won that one. The rest is mentioned in my previous post.

QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 12:37 AM) Ironically that makes it even now because I am still mad over Varitek getting in as the Last Man Vote over a White Sox player a few years back (Cannot remember the White Sox player who did not get in because of that.....might have been Frank or Paulie) Frank lost to Varitek in 2003. Matsui beat out Frank and Kong in 2004.

Have a great one BMac!

QUOTE(longshot7 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 12:37 AM) Way to go, guys!! Since getting booted from the other site, I have come to enjoy Soxtalk a lot. Have they ever had an on-air mention? and I was on pins and needles for Scotty - it had to have been a landslide. He deserves to be there and we came through for him! Go us!! Brooks plugged the site during a radio interview during this year's SoxFest, IIRC.
