The only thing that is goofy about all of this is maybe they're just expecting the American public to trust their word over Canseco's etc. However, if what was said about them in that book truly was false, do something about it!

I just think it's so cool that a simple message board where Sox fans can get together to talk about anything and everything has grown so much. 600,000+ posts and 2,000 members are definitely some big numbers, and to think this place will continue to grow is awesome. SoxTalk!

Soxtalk NCAA Tourney Pick 'Em Contest
greasywheels121 replied to SnB's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Hmm....I signed up for this, and I remember having to use the soxtalk password and name, but it says my yahoo bracket isn't registered under any group. I'll have to keep you posted to what I have, if it turns out to be anything respectable. -
Should/Will Mike Davis be back?
greasywheels121 replied to IlliniKrush's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I don't remember the exact number, but just under 8,000 tickets are alotted tickets. After that, you have to get them through the public way. -
I still have this on from time to time, but I watched just about the whole time the players were on. This has been very interesting IMO. McGwire's coming out of this looking like a complete jackass.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 04:43 PM) YES! I love this guy who's talking to McGuire now. Senator from Indiana....Fort Wayne, IN!

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 03:50 PM) Good question. All I know is that Palmeiro is now on and he's completely denying any steroid use. He is also bashing Canseco pretty hard. You guys must be watching a replay of the opening statements.

Should/Will Mike Davis be back?
greasywheels121 replied to IlliniKrush's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 03:37 PM) Let's do the math....... If they fire Davis this year, they will owe him approx. $750,000. If they wait until next year, they will pay him his $250,000 (approx) salary, plus a $300,000 bonus just for being the Head Coach on July 1. So they will pay him $550,000 and still owe him about a half million if they buy him out next year. The math doesn't add up. It is actually cheaper for them to cut him loose this year than to wait a year. Now I am not saying he should be fired for sure, just that the "one more year/chance" mentality and the "lack of $$" excuse won't wash when it comes down to it. $750,000 doesn't seem like so much when staring at an all-time attendance low at Assembly Hall last night. Last night's low was more than 2000 fans below the previous low in 1999 when fans couldn't make it because of an ice storm. Spring Break is not a legitimate excuse. My guess is that contributions are down as well, although that is just speculation. In theory, it could be argued that IU cannot afford to gamble by keeping him. How is Spring Break not a legite excuse? It's the NIT. I don't know how you get players up for a game like that, let a lone the fans. The students aren't even allowed back on campus until Sunday at 8 am. That's keeping a lot of buyers out of the city. I would've gone, had I been in Bloomington. Also, it still will cost a bit. We'd be paying the rest of DiNardo and Davis' contracts. The current football coach's contract, and I don't even want to know what it will cost to get a coach that will get the "boosters" etc. to be happy with. -

QUOTE(Steff @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 02:30 PM) Ok Good. It's streaming good now. I know some of you don't like him.. but man.. I LOVE Jose for bringing this s*** out. I'm glad too. I don't like this stuff in baseball, and I've always been a big Frank backer. I absolutely love seeing him get his due.

QUOTE(Steff @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 02:29 PM) Are they just swearing the players in now or is CSpan behind...? Swearing them in.
-
QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 02:27 PM) We are getting to the good stuff now. I'm so happy for Frank. This is really going to put Frank in a really positive light for the remainder of his career.

This was just reported on ESPNNews by Bob Ley I heard that. That's really awesome. Frank gets his cape today!

QUOTE(knightni @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 11:32 AM) Do CSPAN or CSPAN2 have it on? ESPN will have it back on when they resume from break. I think this isn't on CSPAN or CSPAN2, but it is on CSPAN3! No joke. I didn't even know there was a CSPAN3.
-
QUOTE(Steff @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 10:55 AM) He didn't say that. I thought he did. What did he say when asked what he would do if he was commish then?

I like the idea Bunning said that they should just be kicked out on first offense. Who's going to risk losing the chance to continue making $12M a year?
