For anyone interested in Illini Basketball
greasywheels121 replied to IlliniKrush's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
To the DJ White comment; I just wish Josh Smith could have came for one season though. This freshman class is still going to be fun as hell. One of the guys, James Hardy, is from a HS down the street. He's now Fort Wayne's all-time point scorer. He was originally going to sign a basketball scholarship, but then he wanted to play football. A basketball scholarship doesn't allow you to play football; however, a football scholarship lets you play basketball. So he waited to sign a football scholarship and he's going to play both basketball and football. All bias aside, the Illini won't have to worry that much though. They're going to have one of the better backcourts in the nation. -

Yeah, the football crowd's are pathetic, but there's really not much to root for. I think we're at Champaign this year; I might end up driving up to that game if I can get some people to go with me. Also, if I can get tickets, I want to go to the Oaken Bucket game at Purdue. I believe the home game tickets just went on sale. We have Central Michigan, Michigan State, Michigan, Minnesota, and JoePa's Penn State at Memorial Stadium this year. -

Man, that game was terrible. We had the lead for the entire game, and didn't score for a period of ten minutes in the second half. That game basically summed up our entire season last year. We'd always play one great half and then forget to play the other one altogether. I can't wait for the season though. I have Freshman Orientation on the 21st and 22nd of this month. I'll even be at all the football games. -

We'll see..... I can't wait to bust out the IU sig I made, it's a similar style to your Illini sig. However, it's got some better players and colors on it.... -

I might as well post it here.... I know it was pretty well known, but Devin Harris, of Wiscy has decided to forego his senior year and will sign an agent for the NBA draft. -
It's so worth it....

I feel really good about Diaz going back to the minors and pitching well again. Like it's been stated a few times, I think bringing him up to start a MLB game without pitching for over a week really hurt his chance to be successful. I'm looking forward to seeing him pitch again.

But since he's the Cubs' god, this can of course slide. Controlled Chaos brought up a good point, if any White Sox player did this, Moronotti would have bashed the hell out of them.

Indiana: Corn, Basketball and … Baseball?

Good article there; I never really thought too much about the bat industry or what not, but that was an interesting read. It was also nice to see some former and current Sox players representing the Hoosier state proud! -
Since Mags' has been out, Frank's been in the 3 spot. I think it only makes sense to continue doing that. With the exception of the Oakland series, the lineup's been getting the job this way.

No, Durst got s*** thrown at him. I think Stapp was the one that showed up drunk, and people sued because of that.

My thoughts too, but I won't hold that against anyone who does like them on here. Because they're Sox fans...

The Wizards are really stinking it up this year; they're now the Padres affiliate. It was cool a couple years back the Padres used to come in for an exhibition game. I met Tony Gywnn during one of these. They used to be the Twins affiliate; it's pretty interesting. We've had Torii Hunter, Hawkins, Koskie, Pierzynski, Guzman, Lawton, etc. play here. So it's pretty weird rooting against these guys now.

I just saw a couple episodes tonight. Hilarious. They were doing one for the 1997 Spelling Bee, and they even had Breakdowns like Sportscenter. Sean Salisbury was breaking down their methods of spelling. The second episode was this thing called Super Jocks! Super Dogs! LOL, I don't know where they find this footage but I'm now a fan.

I guess he's quoted as saying he wants to play until he's 50. After that, he wants to start managing in rookie ball and work his way up, just as he did to play in the bigs. He feels he must earn it.

I've read a couple places that KW has been given the go by JR to add on salary if necessary. -
Not sure where to put this, but you have our next game for July 4th....
