Yeah...That's what I was thinking. Where everyone thinks he's some soldier that left a small town, and he helps revitalize that movie theatre.

I think Pitt will get the fourth #1 seed along w/ St. Joe's, Stanford, and Duke. -
From what I understand 13 is the number.

This isn't my favorite thing to say being an IU fan, but I think you guys will be the fourth and final team to make it out of the Big Ten and go into the tourney. IU may have the RPI, but I don't see us getting in there. We'll see, we have a light schedule to close out the season, and then if we make a short run in the Big Ten tourney you never know.... -
Is there any way people can argue that this is good for baseball? This is such bulls***....

LMAO.... Just checked the RPI.....IU's still 66 in the RPI at 12-10....while Purdue is at 81 w/ a 16-8 record! RPI rankings -
Though not all his facts are straight, he gets the point out to the masses. Great article.

Would you bring Danny Evans back to the Sox?
greasywheels121 replied to CSF's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think Evans was pretty bitter after KW got the job. I don't think he would come back. -
Steinbrenner is an idiot if he ever fires Torre. I don't know anyone else that could manage that many egos.

Thank You Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, Kennedy, etc.......

Yeah, that is pretty pathetic how that worked out. I just hope owners and what not can all learn that, though A-Rod is arguably the best baseball player in the game right now....No player is worth $252 M.....

As long as the Yanks have money, they won't have to worry about prospects. They just buy these players like none other. The Yanks do surprisingly draft well. The Yanks were the team that drafted Damaso Marte. Pettitte, Jeter, Posada, Bernie, Rivera, etc. came from their farm teams. Actually a lot of the Yankees success in the 90's came from their farm teams. I know the Yanks haven't won a WS since George has gone insane and started to really spend the green; however, you can't say you would have a better shot w/ any other team. I just don't understand how you can become a "true" fan of that team, when you have a totally different roster every season. They're basically rooting for laundry in NY. I'd love to win a WS any way possible; however, I think it would be much more gratifying to win it w/ players from your farm and what not.

Agreed. The state of baseball right now is pretty terrible. You have the Yankees, who's infield equals the entire White Sox payroll. They need to do something. It doesn't have to be a salary cap, but they have to control the spending and level the playing field. This luxury tax really doesn't effect teams like the Yankees. They're spending over $200M this year, but they still have a ridiculous amount in the bank. I don't know when this current situtation of the luxury tax expires, but they need to do something. I just don't know how they'll be able to change it now. The MLB players union is the strongest in any sport.

Damn...I remember that show. I actually kind of liked it, but I don't know her name. I'm not going to cheat and look it up....

Have a great one!

Well we're in NY when the Yanks start play at Yankee Stadium, maybe that's what's being discussed.

There's a thread or two about it, but A-Rod's going to NY to play 3rd base. The Rangers are getting Soriano and a player to be named later. It should be announced tomorrow or Tuesday. It just has to be OK'd by the commish's office.

Not my favorite thing in this weather, but I drink pink lemonade in the summer to no end. I drink a lot of water year-round though.

Santana's a pretty good pitcher and all, but I'd much rather have Buerhle. Santana has a history of being a little injury prone.

I agree to an extent that anything can happen. However, you can't say that having that lineup doesn't give them the best chance possible. I really don't know how people can ever claim themselves as true Yankee fans. I think it has to be much more satisfying to win a world series as the Marlins and Angels just did. Just about everyone on those teams came from their farm systems, and it wasn't really a fake and assembled "dream" team.

NBA All-Star Festivities
greasywheels121 replied to greasywheels121's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
It was actually a great game from start to finish. The West won 136-132, and Shaq won the MVP. They had their showboat moves, but this year they didn't get away from actually playing the game. It was one of the best All-Star games in the past few years. -
That's sweet PA.

A-Rod Deal: Reaches Commisioners Office
greasywheels121 replied to Flash Tizzle's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Agreed. I just pointed that out there, because I don't know why, but on occasion I'll go in this baseball chatroom where many are Bankee fans. They always seem to cry foul that everyone thought the A-Rod to Boston would have been great and A-Rod to NY is the worst thing that can happen. They always say that people never seem to cry about the money when they're not winning the WS, and that since the Marlins won it, it proves money doesn't mean anything, blah blah blah.....I just don't see anyway, that anyone can justify that this deal is good for baseball, even the sane Yankee fans in there (if there is such a thing) think that Steinbrenner has gone too far with this one.
