  1. It's safe to say Purdue won't be ranked next week..... They lost to IU on Tuesday, and they lost to 10th place in the Big Ten, OSU at home 65-58.
  2. LOL That's pathetic....The NFL is great and all, but that's being a little OC.
  3. Understandable. Their sound has changed over the years. I can go for either or really. They have a couple songs you'll like on the new CD, but there will be ones you won't like.
  4. My favorite three on that are "Idiot Box" "A Certain Shade of Green" and "Glass" ....I know their style has changed, but I still love their stuff. Have you tried listening to the CD on The Leak? I say it's a hybrid of Morning View and some of their earlier stuff.

    Incubus!

Incubus has to be my favorite band, and they have a new CD coming out, "A Crow Left of the Murder" on 02/03/04! (Tuesday) They allowed MTV.com preview the CD on their "The Leak" feature. I've been listening to it non-stop since they put it on there. I'll be getting this ASAP on Tuesday. Are there any Incubus fans on the board?
  6. Well now their lineup AND pitching staff has improved.....
  7. Ha alright...Just had to know who he was....Was he serious in saying this? I mean is he a credible guy? That'd be friggen' awesome.
  8. GM tells Valentin he's staying put Shortstop says Williams downplayed latest trade rumor By Scott Merkin / MLB.com CHICAGO -- What is the greatest baseball selling point for White Sox shortstop Jose Valentin? What is that definitive attribute causing Valentin to be mentioned in trade talks with Seattle, Texas and, earlier Friday, with the New York Yankees and Anaheim Angels? It could be Valentin's consistent 25-home run power, posting 106 round-trippers during his four years on the South Side. It's not as rare of a commodity at shortstop as it was in years past, but it's still a skill found on very few teams. Maybe it's Valentin's strong clubhouse leadership or the fact that he's coming off an excellent defensive campaign. It could be that, whatever the reason, Valentin simply fits in the trade proposal. The question was one pondered Friday by the 34-year-old veteran, as the White Sox 12th Annual FanFest began at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Chicago. "A lot of people must like my name because everybody has been throwing it out there," said Valentin, who was featured in many Hot Stove trade talks, along with teammates Magglio Ordonez, Paul Konerko and Billy Koch. "I always think that's a positive. "I'm not scared about it because I have no control or no choice where I go," Valentin added. "I wish I could say I don't want to go anywhere and stay in Chicago, but I can't do that." Prior to the opening introductions of the White Sox players, past and present, the Chicago Tribune reported that Valentin could go to New York for prospects and temporarily fill the void at third base created by Aaron Boone's recent knee injury suffered during a basketball game. Valentin played 149 games at third base between the 2001 and 2002 seasons, although his preference is to play shortstop. The more complicated proposed scenario in the same Tribune article sent Valentin and Konerko to Anaheim, third baseman Troy Glaus from the Angels to New York and left-handed starter Jarrod Washburn and outfielder Darrin Erstad to Chicago. The Yankees would then send prospects to both the White Sox and Angels. But Valentin wore the confident smile of a player going nowhere fast when he met with the media 90 minutes before the start of the weekend White Sox festivities. It stemmed from a talk he had with White Sox general manager Ken Williams one hour earlier. "I was told by my GM today that I'm not going anywhere," Valentin said. "I don't have to worry about that now. I will report to Tucson on Feb. 25 and, in the beginning of the year, I will be wearing a White Sox uniform. Who knows what will happen after that? Hopefully, I will be wearing this uniform for three or four more years. "(Williams) asked me if I saw the (Tribune story). I said I did. And he said, 'You aren't going anywhere.' I didn't ask for it. He told me." The media heard that same sentiment from Williams on Friday, although he acknowledged the newspaper report presented an interesting breakdown of the three-way maneuver. "That report, the article and opinions expressed within it, kind of gives people some insight into how a three-way deal could possibly work and how those things come about," Williams said. "I would expect, in terms of all that was contained there, that Jose Valentin will be our Opening Day shortstop. "I have a lot of conversations with (other teams), multiple conversations, and things get out here and there. With that particular club (Anaheim), there hasn't been a match. If something was out there to make our club better, it would have been done." Valentin, who had his $5 million option picked up by the White Sox for 2004, hit .237 in 2003 and matched a career-high with 28 home runs. He admitted to a strong possibility crossing his mind earlier in the offseason that he would be with another team, especially when Boston's All-Star shortstop Nomar Garciaparra was rumored as headed to the White Sox as part of the Alex Rodriguez/Manny Ramirez/Magglio Ordonez blockbuster. "I watch him playing shortstop, and I knew he wouldn't play in center field for us," said Valentin with a smile when talking of Garciaparra. "They would either move me to another position or send me somewhere else." For now, Valentin doesn't have to worry. He will be alongside his third double-play partner in less than two seasons, with Willie Harris taking over at second, while helping Juan Uribe adjust as a White Sox infielder. Valentin enjoys playing for the White Sox, where his career took off after being traded from Milwaukee in 2000. But in all honesty, he's almost as glad not to be headed to New York. "I was starting to go crazy because my wife said she didn't want to go to New York," Valentin said. "I would be broke there, and she would be shopping all day. But I'm going to be a White Sox player."
  9. Found an IndyStar article about the Old School game.... Indiana participates in throwback game January 30, 2004 Viewers of Saturday's nationally televised game between Indiana and Michigan State may think they've stumbled upon ESPN Classic. As part of its celebration of 25 years of televising college basketball, ESPN is putting on a "Turn Back The Clock" game that will feature the Hoosiers and Spartans. There will be vintage uniforms, old TV graphics and 1979 concession prices. Commentators Dan Shulman, Dick Vitale and Doris Burke will wear clothes from the era. Some may think Vitale won't look any different, but the veteran broadcaster plans to wear a 1979-style blazer and horned-rimmed glasses. IU fans may be in for a treat when it comes to their coach. Mike Davis said Thursday that he plans to wear a red sports coat, plaid pants, stacked heels -- and an Afro. "Back in the day, the brothers wore stacked heels," Davis said with a smile. "And I'm wearing the Afro because I lost a bet." Davis was asked by a reporter late last week if he would consider wearing an Afro wig or something similar for the occasion. At first, Davis said no, but after a moment he said, "I'll tell you what. If we beat Minnesota and then beat Purdue, and we're 5-1 going to Michigan State, I'll wear that Afro." Davis plans to be true to his word. He said he'll wear the Afro, and full fashion attire when he comes out on the court, but will only wear the sports coat during the game. All of the clothes will be provided by ESPN and Davis will see them for the first time today. He said a friend is bringing the Afro. ESPN had hoped that both teams would wear replica uniforms from '79. Michigan State plans to do that, but IU officials say they were informed of the plan too late to have Nike put together a vintage uniform for them. In many ways, though, the IU uniform hasn't changed significantly. The shorts are baggier and the fabric has changed but the basic look is similar. The candy-stripped warm-up pants should fit right in as well. The only significant difference for the Hoosiers will be the old high red socks that were popular in the '70s. Michigan State beat IU 82-58 on Jan. 18, 1979, in East Lansing.
  10. I mentioned this a little bit, but tomorrow night when IU is in East Lansing to play Michigan State, it is "Turn Back the Clock Night." They're wearing the short shorts and the whole nine yards ...Here's a little blip from IU's athletic website.
