Sox to recognize two studs in Dodger series

I'm definitely OK with this. -
QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ May 19, 2011 -> 09:45 PM) Seriously. TWICE now Teahen goes down and things start looking up. Seriously, the front office should put a permanent BAN on dealing with players from KC! or it's the Mojo of McPherson! Just a coincidence, lack of Teahen didn't make PK get a clutch hit in the 1st or have Dunn and Ramirez extend the lead in the early innings.

Nice win, for some reason they have Carmona's number this year.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ May 19, 2011 -> 09:18 PM) tigers lost I am glad the Sox are winning but the last two innings have been brutal at-bats against chad durbin it's baseball, all time greats fail more than half the time, 2nite there were important hits when the game was close. -

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 18, 2011 -> 03:02 PM) I disagree. Morel was '05 World Series Crede-like in the field yesterday and hit a 3-run HR. He was hitting .187 on May 3rd. He's hitting .229 now. That's a .42 point jump in just over two weeks. Let's see if he can keep it up. normally I would agree with you, but the difference is so overwhelming to me that I'll cut ozzie a break on this one. The one guy lefty I wouldn't have been outraged if he went Stealth Elf/Rios in the OF instead of Elf/Pierre, that's because Pierre is so terrible at the plate right now I don't think it would matter if he was facing a lefty, righty or ball on a tee -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 18, 2011 -> 03:01 PM) Ridiculously small sample size, but Morel has been a lot better this year against RHP (.257 average) than against LHP (.154 average). I'm only looking at this season as well, so as far as career goes, it's small, but the Masterson splits are wildly different favoring lefties. -

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 18, 2011 -> 02:57 PM) Morel should be out there for his defense alone. I like Masterson. But s***. We're not talking Felix, Verlander or Scherzer here. Masterson has better numbers than all 3 of those against right handed batters, and only Scherzer is close to struggling as much against lefties as Masterson. I am by no means a stat only guy, I think everything has to be taken into account, but the stark difference lefties and righties vs. Masterson is significant. -

If Ozzie would have stuck with Morel 2nite the other half of Sox fans would have complained he's going with his "guts" and not looking at the numbers. I think Ozzie has a good portion of blame to accept for the suck of the season so far, but I also put a good amount on the hitters who are not performing so any line-up Ozzie runs out there is questioned. -
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 18, 2011 -> 02:54 PM) The NBA Draft Lottery is the most rigged thing in sports, but David Kahn is still laughably bad at his job, and generally makes a fool of himself anytime he speaks. So I find this situation rather funny. not that it made the drafting 2 PGs debacle any better, but what's the status on Rubio? At first I heard he was just going to be stubborn and stay in Europe for the long haul, but then I did hear that if there's an NBA next year he might play.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 18, 2011 -> 02:51 PM) You could see that coming a mile away. those egos would sell out their moms. honestly, and as much as people have ripped on him this year, including myself, I think Bosh can be a very effective/all-star caliber player, but if LBJ and Wade had a hard-on to play with each other, they would have been better off getting 2-3 "role players" for the Bosh money. The lack of depth on that team kills them.
-
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 18, 2011 -> 02:41 PM) With a lot of other players I wouldn't have even thought this way but with LBJ this was seriously the first thing that came to my mind. although if they lose this series and Bosh puts stats up it will potentially throw my prediction out the window that LBJ and Wade will scapegoat Bosh.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 18, 2011 -> 02:33 PM) Lebron has supposedly been sick for the last 3 days. I guess Chicago weather can help the Bulls too. sounds like his PR machine is starting some spin already, if they lose, well LBJ was sick, if they win and he plays well it was a triumphant performance.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 18, 2011 -> 02:34 PM) Was actually just about to post the same thing but there's still a few oddities about the lineup, like Beckham being in instead of Alexei and I think everyone is just tired of Pierre leading off. Besides that, after taking a second to think about it, I understand for the most part the thinking here. the way a lot of the guys have been hitting lately there will be some odd things unfortunately. -

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 18, 2011 -> 02:32 PM) Morel has been swinging a solid stick for a week or so now. He's the future. They need to see what he can do. Dallas Mcpherson is only here because another terrible player went on the DL. eh, I could see you complaining if Ozzie went with a RH heavy line-up even if it included young or guys swinging well right now. Last night you were basically saying if Cle wins these 2 the Sox season is over, so don't you think Ozzie should give them the best shot to at least split these two games? I am by no means an ozzie fan, but here I tend to agree with the decision, the splits aren't even close, Masterson struggles against left handed batters and dominates righties. -

I'll give Ozzie some slack for stacking it with lefties, because Masterson's has been great against righties and not very good against lefties, it's actually pretty significant. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/...ar=2011&t=p -
QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 18, 2011 -> 12:55 PM) There is no doubt in my mind that the Heat are going to trying and beat up Rose tonight. I think they'll attempt to, I just don't really think they have a player on the roster who will do it effectively. Their best bet is to get some ball movement in half-court and not attempt to get into a style of play they would have a lot of difficulty being successful at.

QUOTE (bmags @ May 18, 2011 -> 09:43 AM) Just unreal game by Dirk last night. Yeah, concur with J4L, if Ibaka, Durant, etc couldn't do anything (worse! they couldn't avoid fouling), then there is no "good" matchup for us. That said. Game time hooah. Worried that the Heat are going to try and punch us in the mouth and we'll be game 4'd v atlanta. But I think this Bulls team knows what's at stake. I agree, if the Bulls and Mavs make the final and Dirk has 4 all time great nights than the Bulls are in trouble.

7 unearned runs given up by the Cubs tonight in a 7-5 loss to the Reds

QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 17, 2011 -> 04:56 PM) They built another tower at the palms for some reason. There are simply too many new hotels to go around especially with the city center now open with 4 new hotels. I stayed at the Palazzo for less than 200 a few weeks ago. they were all being invested in just prior to the drop in the economy and many were started. Center Strip went from having 3 shifts a day to 1 really quickly. It's insane the deals you can get for hotels out there. There was a big project planned for the space between Hard Rock and the strip, and I think it got to the point of closing up all the apartments in that area, then money dried up

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 15, 2011 -> 04:39 PM) This is getting old. Any non White Sox player that as an epiphany is on HGH. eh, it's just the time we're in, it's perfectly OK to me for people to have suspicions. Especially since it's difficult to find a comparison for someone at that age, with that much MLB experience to make such a significant jump in power, outside of the steroid era, with the main reasoning being a mechanical change. I'm certainly not saying it hasn't happened or is impossible without PEDs, but with what MLB went through, to me, it's perfectly reasonable for people to have suspicions.

This is just a small prelude to the eventual Jeter fiasco.

QUOTE (Palehosefan @ May 15, 2011 -> 09:30 PM) Any random vendor from the crowd is better than Spoelstra. He's an OK coach, the complete lack of a bench makes him look far worse than he really is. I understand this is only one game and obviously the Heat can still win the series, but a team with size and a deep bench gave them problems all year, I'm not sure why many people thought this series was going to be different. I don't think Kendrick Perkins is as great as a lot of pundits make him out to be, but just his size alone would have made that Celts/Heat series completely different, and the Bulls have actual big man depth. Having size helps prevent crazy 10+ runs against the Heat. This will be a fun series, the Heat will have at least one blow out win similar to this, my pick would be game 3.

QUOTE (JoshPR @ May 15, 2011 -> 06:27 PM) Yes there is.... Salary it really isn't a ton, Dodgers paid a lot of that deal, basically any guy making the minimum can give what Pierre is giving at this point

QUOTE (Andrew @ May 14, 2011 -> 12:28 AM) Yeah...McCarthy is great in Oakland. Who isn't. Sox did what they need to do? What was that? Oh, I know, score all their runs ($120M HITTING) within the first 2 innings and try to hold on. Yes, they've been playing better. I'm not even sure what you are talking about with your next point. right, most pitchers pitch well in Oakland, and the Sox scored four runs and the A's scored 3, win for the Sox. My last point was just saying the Sox didn't look pathetic tonight to me. Oakland is a tough place to win, the Sox did it... and I didn't know the runs count for less if you only score them in 2 innings.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 14, 2011 -> 12:02 AM) The pitching is probably overachieving. But they're scary to me in the fact that Choo and Santana have been awful and they're still winning. Just a matter of time before those two get going. true, but I don't see Asdrubal Cabrerea OPS + at 142 or Hafner's at 160 for the rest of the year either, so those 4 may flip flop and pitching comes down to earth a little and they start to slide back.
