I agree, i don't mind Schoney at 4, I actually think he will do ok, but i hate the idea of a toss-up and whoever name gets pulled out of the bag is our fifth starter idea.

Just gotta say i loved that article and it hit the nail right on the head for me....

completely agree...no way we can afford to outbid someone for his services

i would rather have burkett than erickson considering the injury trouble that scott has had of late, but i do still like erickson..if we don't get one, i would like to see the other one come

from the Bergen Record... Erickson, who had Tommy John surgery and missed all of last season, worked out last week for about 20 teams in Arizona. Erickson threw in the 87-89 mph range, attracting the interest of several teams, including the Mets. The Mets continued to negotiate with Erickson on Monday. "Nothing is imminent at this point," said Josh Goldberg, director of communications for the Beverly Hills Sports Council, the agency that represents Erickson. "I know the Mets are interested." Goldberg said Erickson is listening to offers from eight teams, including the Mets. In 12 seasons, the 35-year-old Erickson has a 140-128 record with a 4.51 ERA. If signed to a minor league deal, Erickson would likely compete with Grant Roberts, Aaron Heilman, and Tyler Yates for the fifth spot in the rotation. I hope that we are at least gonna try to make an effort to sign this guy, I think he would make a good addition to our club...living out of baltimore by about 45 minutes i got to see this guy pitch a lot and had good stuff and he was sorely missed last year by the O's.

Hopefully this will finally put an end to the damn trade talks.

This was mentioned a few days ago a few times actually...I believe it was either in the Takatsu introduction when he met the media or when KW was on ESPN 1000, he mentioned that he has tried to reach magglio and he also hasn't responded to phone calls...
-
Pretty good article, pretty much summed it up, however she failed to mention the fact that Ordonez has not returned Williams calls either...

Interesting analysis, I remember hearing something about the clubhouse demeanor from Alomar/Everett when they arrived here...sounds like its pretty true. As for Koch last year, I can understand that as well, he sucked, he was probably hearing from his teammates too. I just hope everyone turns it around this year and puts the pst behind them.

And in the footsteps the greatest third base coach of all time...Bruce Kimm!!!!!

From Rotoworld: Just for those of you who haven't caught this info yet...don't worry Critic you don't have to stop watching the Sox!!! According to his agent, Shawn Estes will sign a minor league deal with the Rockies. Estes is expected to get a $600,000 base salary if he makes the club. He'll compete for a rotation spot. Source: Denver Post Free agent Orlando Hernandez threw just 75-78 mph during his workout yesterday. El Duque, who missed all of last season after shoulder surgery, said he was about 85 percent. He's probably not going to get many offers based on the showing. If he wants a guaranteed deal, he'll have to build up some arm strength and then throw for scouts again. Source: New York Times Cuban defector Maels Rodriguez didn't reach 90 mph yesterday in his workout in front of scouts. It's likely that Rodriguez's velocity will increase as he gets further into his throwing program, but what he did yesterday won't help his stock. Although he didn't rule out a future bid, Mariners GM Bill Bavasi said he wouldn't make Rodriguez an offer based on the workout. Source: Seattle Times

i guess i can see that i just took it as we signed under the condition that he wuld be our closer...
-
I haven't seen this discussed yet but i was wondering ya'll's opinions on the matter. Shingo signed with us under the impression that he would be our closer, turning down more lucrative offers from the Padres and Yankees to make an impact on a team...but in a few articles i have read (rotoworld for example) we plan to use him as a setup man initially...do you think that this will cause controversy or that he will feel duped by the White Sox? Maybe situations like this cause so many people to leave the organization on a sour note.
-
From Rotoworld: The Rays are likely to get Damian Moss signed to a one-year deal today. Moss's contract will probably be worth about $800,000. He should be part of the Tampa Bay rotation. This would have been a nice, cheap pickup for us, but still think that there are better options out there for us..(hopefully the supposed Philly trade).
-
hey thanks for the update i had not heard this, and sorry for posting the wrong info!
-
Pretty sure that Man Soo Lee was not offered a contract extension at the end of last year..so he is no longer with the organization in any capacity i believe...but i am still excited to see what MR ZERO can do!
-
I believe that I read somewhere on here that the Sox were gonna release their list of spring training invitees today..I was wondering if anyone had the list or if anyone new anything about this...Thank you.

I agree the payroll should be higher, unfortunately our opinions don't mean a damn...they won't raise it any higher than they already have and I don't think Urbina is the anwser we are looking for but we can dream...
