  1. What did you expect to get for this guy? Final year of his contract and he is hitting .250 with 6 hone runs and 30 RBI. What the f*** did you people expect to get back? Come on!!!!! It is addition by subtraction if you ask me. Have Richar step in so we can see what we have.
  2. If they want Jon Garland then they must give up Adam Jones. If not, then they don't get him. It is pretty simple. The Sox shouldn't be settling for anything less.
  3. Garland is no great shakes. Trade him and you still have a nice trio of Buehrle Vazquez and Danks. Maybe someone will be ready from the minor league system to replace Garland next year. Maybe Gio, Egbert, Massett, or Floyd will be ready. There is a better chance of that happening than seeing someone from our system ready in the OF like Adam Jones is. I am not saying to give him away, but if you can get an Adam Jones or a prized prospect for him then by all means do it. There are a lot of holes to fill on this team.
  4. Agreed, however, at that time Jeremy Reed was the White Sox #1 prospect. You can look back and say that now. A lot of people were pissed when the Sox traded him away. Big things were expected of him. He was supposed to gain power with age. Many thought the Sox gave up way too much for Garcia. That didn't turn out to be the case, but at the time....
  5. Sounds kinda fair considering what the Sox gave up in prospects for Freddy Garcia. Jeremy Reed (The WHite Sox top prospect), Mike Morse (a young SS), and Miguel Olivo (A young up and coming catcher already in the major leagues with an awesome arm).
  6. The Ms can't have Vazquez. Their only option is Garland. Vazquez does not want to and will not accept a trade to the Mariners.
  7. That is not true at all. Their GM compared him to Tim Salmon. Someone else in the organization compared him to Gorman Thomas. Neither one of those players are evern close to Vladimir. They are basically saying he is a high strikeout guy with some power potential. I don't want this guy. If the Sox are trading Jon Garland to the Ms then the Sox better be getting nothing less than Adam Jones in return. Anything less than that would be a bad trade from the Sox end.
  8. How about Dye and Contreras for Chin Lung Hu? Forget Ethier. The White Sox clearly need a shortstop now and for the future. Hu and Richar could be really good for years to come.
  9. Jo-Jo Reyes and Jarrod Saltamachia for Javier Vazquez? Who likes that deal? Do I hear any takers? Check out this article by baseball opinion writer Christopher Solberg. http://www.baseball-opinion.com/2007/071207.htm
  10. QUOTE(Sonik22 @ Jul 12, 2007 -> 08:18 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Richar also plays a lot of SS down at Charlotte, but i agree. I understand that, but from what I heard he is much better suited to play 2B defensively.
  11. QUOTE(WHITESOXRANDY @ Jul 12, 2007 -> 11:01 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'd rather play Richar and spend some money on some outfielders than can mash. I agree, Richar it is. The Sox need a SS, not a 2B.
  12. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 07:50 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> When other players ask for it KW, and you don't want to give it to them, you just say no. You could lose a lot of potential free agents if that is the case. If other players see that you gave a full no-trade clause and you are not going to give it to them (such as Ichiro) then they would most likely feel like you think they are not as good as that player. That player will then go somewhere else where he feels more wanted. If they do give a full no trade to Mark then they will potentially have to give it to every big free agent they go after, or most likely lose out on getting the big free agent. That is a big risk to take.
  13. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 11:23 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Kenny, Rotoworld is on to you.... If there really is only an 18 month window then that doesn't seem to bad for either side. A full no trade would be nice for Buehrle to have, but this is pretty good protection for Buehrle. As long as he pitches good he has nothing to worry about. If we are this upset about him being traded now, I think KW would take a lot more heat if Buehrle was pitching good and traded later. I think we as fans would see it as a total lack of loyalty and would be calling for his head even more than we already are. If he is pitching bad I can see a lot of fans telling KW to get rid of him, much like the 2nd half of last year. Buehrle pitches good and he will stay - that is the best no trade clause he can have.
  14. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 01:02 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I know, but I'm just saying. If KW really wanted a player, but Ozzie didn't, do you still think that KW wouldn't go after that player. Afterall, it KW is in charge. If it was a veteran player and the manager didn't want him, then no, the general manager is not going to go after that player. Why would he? If it is a younger player that you intend to develop then I don't see the manager being involved at all, but if it is a player that involves a team he will definitely be managing I can't see a general manager acquiring a player that a manager didn't want. Does HR hire someone for a particular position that the manager overseeing that position doesn't want? It just doesn't make sense. Either you don't think things totally through or you just like to argue. I am not sure which one it is.
  15. QUOTE(dasox24 @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 10:04 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Damn, LaRussa is stupid then. If he doesn't think much of Buehrle, then I guess he does think highly of Kip Wells and his 6.30 ERA... Hey, I'm not complaining, though. If they don't want him, great for us! Completely agree. That is what the hosts said as well. They said this is one more reason LaRussa should be gone. I am just pointing it out and why I will never believe a Buehrle/Cardinal trade rumor. They don't want him and they aren't in the hunt for him. It is all their media playing games.
  16. Listening to ESPN radio over the weekend I heard that the Cardinals are not intersted in Buehrle at all because Tony LaRussa doesn't think much of him. Supposedly Jockety asked LaRussa if they should go after him and LaRussa said no because he doesn't think much of him. They are not in it to trade for him or sign him during the off season. So I don't care what I keep hearing about the Cardinals and what they are offering for Buehrle, I just don't believe it. I don't think they are after him or are offering anything at all. I think it is just reporters dreaming things up. I don't recall who said this or what show it was on. I believe Carmen DiFalco's show. Maybe Buehrle and his agent know this as well and if the only places Buehrle wants to pitch is here and St. Louis. If St. Louis doesn't want him then his only choice is here. This may be why he is so intent on re-signing here. I bet the Sox get a deal done with him and soon.
  17. QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Jul 1, 2007 -> 08:34 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So why does it matter if Mark is on the team? Because he's a fan favorite? Because it is much eaiser to build a team back up if you have good stable young pitching. Buehrle, Garland, and Danks all 28 and younger would help this team re-build on the fly in a hurry.
  18. Like I said before, if this is Kenny's idea then he should be fired immediately. He can't build a team with that type of contract? Trade some others away then. Let Contreras go. Get Uribe, Iguchi, and Dye out of here. 14 million a year for a pitcher like Mark Buehrle? I agree with others that think he didn't want to sign Buehrle to begin with and one reason for trading for Danks was to get that lefty. Now that the Sox have Danks they feel good about letting Buehrle go and getting more younger and less expensive pieces in return for him. The only problem with that is you don't know how these younger and less expensive pieces will perform at the major league level. You do know how Buehrle will perform. It sucks that this guy is showing loyalty to this team and this organization is showing NOTHING of the sort in return. This really pisses me off. There are exceptions to everything - if another player comes looking for a no-trade clause from the Sox becuase Buehrle received one, you tell them no, Buehrle is an exception to the rule. That is that. I don't care if Konerko or Garland didn't receive the same thing. It doesn't seem like those were sticking points to getting a deal done. This time it is. This time it is f***ing ridiculous. You have to give in if the other side is giving in. I am really getting turned off by this whole thing.
  19. I will be really pissed off and agravatted if this came down to a no trade clause. BUehrle is giving up money and years to stay with this team and they won't give him a no trade clause. f***ing unbelievable. For once this organization should return some loyalty. Buehrle is being extremely loyal to this franchise and he is getting absolutely nothing in return. I am getting really turned off by this whole situation if this is in fact because of a no trade clause. I for one would absolutely agree that the person responsible for not letting him have a no trade clause should be immediately fired. Obviously you can't fire the owner, so if it is his idea then there is nothing we can do about it. If it is Kenny's or anyone else's they should be gone immediately.
  20. QUOTE(Wedge @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 04:36 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Name me an NBA skill or talent he possesses? I haven't seen him play in the NBA and neither of you, so we don't know yet, do we? Let us see what he does in the NBA before we judge him. Plus, NBA skill or talent does not mean he is untalented at basketball. He has more basketball talent in the tip of his pinky finger thank you have in your whole body. That isn't saying much, but it's true. QUOTE(Wedge @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 06:25 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I have my doubts Noah can aspire to as lofty a ceiling as Cartwright. Cartwright was a superior scorer in college and I suspect he will be a superior scorer in the pros in the end. You do know that Noah played hurt almost all of last year and the previous year's draft he had a chance at going #1 overall, right? He has to have some kind of ceiling. He must have some kind of talent. QUOTE(Wedge @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 06:25 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I appreciate the effort... I didn't expect a LeBron, Kobe, or Wade. Our need is "low-post scorer" not "ass-clown". Who was this "low-post scorer" that you wanted in the draft? Ridiculous. QUOTE(Wedge @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 06:25 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If he's going to be a rich, NBA playin' assclown, I hope he's a good one. Although my previous comment on needing a low-post scorer stands. Who was this "low-post scorer" that you wanted in the draft? Ridiculous.
  21. QUOTE(Wedge @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 02:56 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I cite from UrbanDictionary: 1. From video 1 and 2, he must either be drunk or stupid and is definitely making a fool of himself. 2. Maybe those weren't serious attempts at anything, but he definitely makes a complete fool of himself. For that I posit the following picture as Exibit A: 3. I think from a basketball perspective, "untalented schmuck" pretty much fits the bill. He is far from untalented. He may be making a fool of himself, but he likes to be entertaining and he likes to have fun. I have no problem with that at all. I don't know why you do or why you hate him so. This is all very strange to me. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 02:59 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The guy has one of the longest criminal wrap sheets in all of pro-sports. If he were playing in a major outlet, the entire world would know about it. He is going to have some big time problems in NY. He also is known to not practice much, and not hard, not play defense, and not to be anykind of a teammate. Wow, I never knew. Now I am glad that we didn't get him. I thought he had a couple of run ins with the law, but nothing like you say. I also never knew he was condsidered such a bad teammate. I am glad the Bulls stayed away from him. They don't need that around this good group of guys.
  22. QUOTE(Wedge @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 02:45 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If you can't identify what in either of those videos makes him an assclown, then you probably are one yourself. I'm j/k, mostly. Then please explain it to me. He is a young kid that just won a championship. He is goofing around, happy, excited, and having fun. Please explain it so I know why you think he is. Really, I am not joking. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 02:05 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> We would have had to do a little work to get some salaries to match. We could have done it if Pax and Skiles were interested, but the last thing they want is a lazy criminal poisoning the chemistry that they have worked very hard to get here. Remember they have let players walk for nothing because of the problems they caused. His numbers are what the Bulls need, no doubt, but his persona would take away from everything he would do on the floor. Besides it will be hilarious watching two of the worst front court "defenders" trying to not give up more points per game than they can score in NYC. OK, if they thought he was a lazy criminal then I can see why he wouldn't be wanted. I knew he had some law issues, but I didn't know he was considered lazy. I agree - Randolph and Curry are going to give up a lot of points. That is a bad combination.
  23. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 12:25 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm not surprised at all. The Trail Blazers wanted Randolph gone, and they wanted him gone BAD. They woudl have drove the bus all of the way to NYC if that is what they asked. The sad thing is, Portland still wins this deal, because now you have to get Curry and Randolph to play together, and that isn't going to happen. There are going to be some HUGE problems in that clubhouse when you throw in guys like Marbury. I totally agree with you about the Knicks, but wouldn't Randolph be a good fit with the Bulls? What would the Bulls have to give up if all the Knicks gave up were Channing Frye and Steve Francis? QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 12:21 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> One of the most horryifying experiences of my life was standing less than three feet away from him. His teammate, Corey Brewer, had mono, and Joakim was having respitory problems as well, caughing all over everything. In the end though it was worth it to see him cry as he walked off the court. God this pick is so hard for me to take as a Bulls fan... And I don't mean any harm by this video, I just found it funny. If you guys want to take it down thats fine with me. That was pretty dumb. Not even funny or offensive, just dumb. QUOTE(Wedge @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 12:04 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> In case there's a question, here's our assclown first round pick in action: And just in case you were wondering, he's not well spoken... You have no idea what he is talking about because he has no idea what he is talking about. Why do either one of these videos make him an assclown? He is entertaining, happy, and having fun. What is wrong with that? Why do you guys hate him so much? I can't believe the reaction some of you have over this guy.
  24. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 11:17 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Aaron Gray? Are you kidding me? Did anyone in the entire Bulls' scouting offices bother watching him in college? late 2nd round pick, what did you expect? I guess we will have to wait and see how it turns out.
  25. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 10:38 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No, I said this: "I'm sorry, but Noah is what -- 21, 22 years old? If he hasn't learned how to properly shoot the ball as of right now, I don't think he's going to learn." Please, do me a favor -- two things, actually: read more carefully, and don't say that I said something I didn't say. I f***in' hate when people do that. Ahahahahah! How ironic is this! Talk about the pot calling the kettle black -- it's funny because immediately after you typed that sentence, you type these three gems: Apparently that doesn't qualify as "stat[ing] things as if they are fact when they are all opinion." Nope, not at all, tool. I'm just going to stop here because the rest of your post is more of the same. I'll just let you be right -- you have me right on the dot, I don't give a lick about defense, I clearly said that somewhere in this thread or otherwise. And also, the rest of what you say about Hawes is definitely not more of the same "stating things as if they are fact when they are all opinion." Nope, those are... I don't even know. Learning is developing. If he can't learn it he can't develop it. Case closed. I f***ing hate it when people say one thing and then state that they didn't. You clearly did. It is obvious. Tool = perosnal attack/insult = you should be banned. What is wrong with you. Grow up. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 10:39 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Another awful pick. Aaron Gray is soft and just plain bad. Pax having a bad night. Pax has drafted well in the past and I didn't necessarily always agree with his picks. He has done very well in turning this team around with his picks. I will trust him and see what we have until I judge this draft. I would bet that it turns out to be pretty good the way Paxson has done in the past.
