  1. The Dodgers will not do that. Forget about it.
  2. What? Magglio is only 1 year younger than Nomar. Nomar is a 2 time batting champ. Former ROY. He led the league in triples one year. Led the league in Hits. Led the league in doubles. He is a great fielder, really good base runner. Maggs hasnt done any of this. Magglio lolly gags in the field, has never won a batting title, and is a terrible baserunner. What makes you think that Magglio is anywhere close to the player Nomar is? I love Maggs too, but be sensible. DAMN! This quote is the dumbest thing I have ever heard and we are all dumber for having read it.
  3. Kinda wierd that it's coming from the Cubune. They will do anything they can to piss on the White Sox' parade. I have heard they do have a deal in place with Seattle for Valentine. Maybe for Wynn? Garcia? Who knows, but we shall find out. THis article is a piece of crap. Take it for what it's worth.
  4. He is a f***ing idiot. The Rangers can't start shopping him around. There is a deal with the Red Sox.
  5. This is the dumbest thing I have ever read. The Sox don't only need a hitter in return for Magglio, but it would be nice to get a poster boy type of player. Who do you think of when you think of the Red Sox? NOMAR!!! The White Sox don't haev that type of player. With Nomar they would. Magglio is great. However, when was the last time you have heard him speak? Why is he such a fan favorite? He doesn't say anything!! Is it becuase of the chant? O-E-OOOO-MAGLIOOOO! Big f***ing deal!!!! Nomar is a draw. He brings in fans. HE may cost you 12-14 million a year, but he will also bring more fans and revenue in. Magglio doesn't bring the fans. He just doesn't. What is everyone so upset about? I don't have any idea why this guy is such a fan favorite and he is not worth 14 million a year. He just isn't! I really doubt KW is trying to drive up the price. You are losing Magglio, the middle of your lineup. If you then trade away Nomar for pitching and prospects, then you are creating a huge hole in the middle of the lineup. No one will replace that. The White Sox, who are trying to get more fans, will lose even more fans if they ever put a team like that out. This thread sucks my f***ing ass!
  6. They would also be giving up Nomar, Manny Ramirez, and Scott Williamson. It is not like they are getting away scott free.
  7. If there are other deals that allow us to dump salary you can count un us making a deal that picks up some salary. We are not that far away from our self imposed 58 million cap.
  8. 1) I feel sorry for you since you think Magglio is above average defensively and on the base paths. SBs does not equal a good baserunner. Neither does speed. He is terrible at trying to take the extra base at the wrong times. I have seen him way too many times try to stretch a single into a double and a double into a single and the most inappropriate moments. He is no way an above average base runner. In fact he is below average. His arm is overrated and he lolly gags in the outfield. He doesn't always give 100% out there and has been critized for that over the last 2 years. He is average in the field and below average base runner. I am suprised you can't see that so I guess we will have to agree to disagree. Jose was only good defensively once ALomar came over. He is no longer here. Crede also helped him out a lot. Crede is a great defensive third baseman. Damon is an average defensive outfielder? STATS INC writes this: "Baserunning & Defense Damon's first-step quickness and fine straight-ahead speed make him a rangy center fielder and fearsome baserunner. With a righthander on the mound, Damon is one of the better basestealers around, though he has trouble reading southpaws' moves. His biggest weakness is a well-below average throwing arm." Ther aren't many CF with a good throwing arm, so if that is the worst thing he has I will take it. He definately isn't an average CF and again he is a big upgrade on whoever we can throw out there right now. Plus he is a leadoff hitter which we also need at the moment. Huge upgrades, great trade! 2) Trust me Jose is going to continue to switch hit. He is 34, he is not switching. I will tell you once again, regardless of what you THINK, he said last year that he will not stop switch hitting. REGARDLESS OF WHAT YOU THINK, HE WONT STOP! He will sit against lefties. 3)Mota is highly respected, you are the only one that seems to think he sucks. From what I have read he is a great setup man. The Dodgers don't even want to part with him. That should tell you something. 4) Garcia would be released because of his contract. The same reason why he would be traded. I would want him because he has a better lifetime winning percentage than Bartolo and he would be our 4th starter. I believe in Cooper and I believe he can change his pitching habits. I have heard that Garcia tips his pitches. A change of scenery and a different pitching coach may do him some good. I think he is worth the risk. 5)I don't know where you are getting your numbers. Supposedly the Sox have a deal with him for 3/18 million. That is the last I heard or have seen. I have not seen a rejected deal by him for 3 years for 21 million. Bartolo was overpaid. There isnt a pitcher in the league that will get more than 3 years. Bartolo was considered the best FA out there. He only received 4. Everyone thinks the Angels overpaid in both years and money. I am suprised you havent read that anywhere. 6) what does that mean? Garciaparra is making 11.5. Give me Garciaparra at 12 million a year? I dont understand what that is supposed to mean. Trade with Boston means no saving money. However, we still dump Valentin's salary somewhere, Koch's somwhere, and either Konerko's or Thomas' somwhere. That is where we save money. Not in the Boston deal. 2B Harris (bad O, average D) Why is he leadoff? where is Damon? RF Reed (average O, average D) How do you know? Minor League POY. I doubt you have personally seen him play and everyone loves him. DH Thomas (at 36) Will he be here? I still think he is good regardless. LF Lee (good O, average D) He is continually improving 1B Konerko (average O, average D) Will he be here? 3B Crede (average O, above average D) He continues to improve CF Rowand (average O, average D) Where is Damon? SS Uribe (below average O, above average D) Where is Garciaparra? C Olivo (bad O, good D) He should improve on hitting breaking balls. Loaiza (3.50 ERA) Burhle (3.85) Ponson (3. 85) Garcia (4.25) Perez (4.35) Where is Garland? If we sign Garcia and Ponson we wont get Perez and vice versa Marte (2.50) Awesome! Mota (3.00) NIce pick up Willimson (3.50) AWESOME! Wunsht (3.00) pretty good. Koch (5.50) Really? I hope not. Wright/Garland (4.00) Wright should be good in the bullpen It seems to me that you live to be pessimistic. You forgot to include most of the pickups you are arguing about. I dont understand your argument. Mondesi, Stairs, Santiago, Anderson, Sullivan, Lescanic and Graffanino? These guys are great additions? Mondesi? Stairs? Santigo? Give me a break! Anderson is average. Sullivan was not that great for us at the end of last year. Lescanik is ok. Graffanino is not going to make or break any team. Plus I keep hearing rumors of Beltran leaving. You really think KC will afford him? Can they resign him? I doubt it. How is Minnesota going to reload? They lost their starting catcher, closer, setup man, #2 starter, and may lose Jaque Jones. Good luck on them reloading. I think you are just looking for faults. I don't know why you are a White Sox fan. DUDE, with your lineup I can see why we would be a 75 win team. We gained nothing from the trades. No Damon, no Garciaparra, but Ordonez is gone. Wierd! I don't know man, but you have a lot more work to do on that argument of yours.
  9. We should know more about this after the 20th as there are players that will be released.
  10. I agree, however it is much less than 10.
  11. 1) You forget that we don't have a CF and if you consider Rowand even a half way decent defensive CF I think you are kidding yourself. Magglio is a lolly gagger and half asses it a lot of times defensively and is a terrible baserunner. Nomar is a SS so you can't compare him defensively to an OF, however he is superb in that area. Plus he is a 2 time batting champ at a scarce position. That position is worth 12 million a year, RF is not worth 14. Not even Vlad will get that. This trade would benifit us a lot as J. Reed is much better defensively in RF and Damon is better than anyone we can throw out there at the moment in CF. Our up the middle defense would be awesome with Olivio, Garciaparra, Harris, and Damon. Not even close to average as you claim. You are actually only taking on half a million more in salary. Garciaparra =$11.5 million , Damon = 8 million, Valentin = 5 million, and Magglio 14 million. Only Damon is signed after this year. You are also getting younger as well. Garciaparra =30, Damon = 30, Magglio = 29, and Valentin 34. Anyway you look at it it is a great deal. 2) Valentin will never stop switch hitting. He said this much last year when he was being asked about it from reporters. Offensively we are getting a leadoff hitter in Damon which we don't have and replacing Maggs in the middle with a 2 time batting champ. I think we are upgrading a lot! Both can also do the little things you ask of them and add speed to the team. 3) Mota is awesome and would be a closer for many teams. Who cares about Perez. If he comes through he comes through. However, he is a lefty and lefties are tough to come by. Ask the Cubbies about that. I believe Estes is still around for that reason alone. I also think if you get Perez you will either not trade for Garcia or not sign Ponson. I think they want Ponson and Garcia and do not want Perez. I would be shocked if we received Perez without the idea of trading him shortly after. 4) I believe the Mariners are desperate for power in thier lineup. They tried to trade Guillen for Vizquel earlier today. I see no reason why the Mariners wouldnt trade Garcia here for Valentin. Mariners want to rid themselves of his contract. Valentin supplies them with power, helps them fill a need at SS and they will rid themselves or Garcia's contract. 5) Ponson is believed to have be asking for 3 for 18 million. That is only 6 million per. I believe we can afford that. If you think that defense/offense and starting staff cant win a depleted AL Central then I think you are sorely mistaken. I think you are also foregetting Scott Williamson coming here from Boston. Our bullpen would be really nice if this all works out correctly.
  12. I belive it has been 4 at the most. Get your facts straight please. No one is forcing you to read this thread. WOOHOO!!!!!!!!
  13. Has ESPN ever been right when reporting about the hot stove? Peter Gammons had every team but the white sox ending up with Bartolo last year. We got him. That is just one example, but ESPN sucks at reporting these things as they are usually always wrong. Plus Gammons is a Boston Red Sox fan and everyone available seems to be talking to the Red Sox. Go figure. ESPN is also east coast biased. They never talk about Chicago, especially not he Sox. One more thing that pissed me off about the ESPN f***ers was the pre game all star game last year. They did some s*** from Wrigley Field! f*** THAT s***! WHO WAS HOSTING THE GOD DAMN ALL STAR GAME? THE WHITE SOX?!?! DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND THE HATRED? THE RIVALRY? WHAT THE f*** IS UP WITH THAT?
  14. I know this my man. In case you didn't hear, there are rumors that the expos will send him our way for some prospects. Sign and trade deal. They supposedly signed him because we couldn't talk to him as we didn't offer him arbitration. This has been brought up as it may not be legal. However, I can remember many sign and trade deals. I can only remember this when the team he is with resigns him and trades him, however I am not sure if that makes a difference. I don't know all the rules here.
  15. Another reason why I love this board. Check out the responses some time from WSI. Then come here. This board is so much more optimistic. That board is so pessimistic it makes me sick. I LOVE THIS BOARD!
  16. I believe KW has to wait for this trade to go down. This is what is holding back all of his moves. If we get Williamson, Kim, and Garciaparra for Magglio we get quality for quality. This deal can be found on: http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-b...ov=ap&type=lgns To summarize the deal that I read on yahoo: Then we can start unloading salary. Thomas, Konerko, Koch, and Valentin are all options to go for cheaper alternatives. Valentin should bring us some good prospects in return and may allow us to handcuff him to Koch or Konerko to get them off our hands. Possibly Valentin to Seattle for Guillen. Guillen can be out 2b. I believe Guillen started in the majors as a 2b. That would give us strong up the middle defense. Then we can go out and get a CF and sign Ponson and Freddy Garcia once he is released. Maybe make that trade for Carl Everett to return to fill in for CF. Looking good guys! I am sure someone out of here has to go. Konerko/Thomas. But this team looks good! J. Reed RF C. Guillen 2B N. Garciaparra SS F. Thomas DH C. Lee LF C. Everett CF P. Konerko 1B J. Crede 3B M. Olivo C M. Buehrle S. Ponson E. Loaiza F. Garcia J. Garland K. Wunsch B. Kim D. Marte S. Williamson
  17. I like WSI too, but this site is much better. When did this site start? I bet all the people over at WSI start coming over here. It seems like a lot have already. Very knowledgable over here. I LOVE IT!!!!!!!
  18. That is the dumbest thing I ever heard. Pudge is hurt a lot. Last year was the first time in a long time that I can remember him healthy for an entire year. Olivo is the best defensive catcher in the AL, no question. Once he learns to hit the breaking ball he will be outstanding. Why on earth would you trade Olivo to get a guy with, at the most, 2 more good years left at the catching position. Pudge will be moved to 2nd base or another position by the time he is 35. Catchers just cant play that position for that long.
