I completely agree with you and Balta. The White Sox were not going to sign Garland long-term. He is a mediocre overpaid pitcher who is a # 3 or 4 at best. In return he received one of the best shortstops in the league. That was a great trade. He then traded for a promising young LFer and signed a veteran arm for the bullpen - 2 more needs the White Sox filled. This team is better off now than it was at the end of the 2007 season and there is still time to get better. I really like what he has done so far this off season. I would have been pissed if we signed Torii Hunter to the bulls*** deal LA signed him to or Rowand for the one he signed. I wish we could have traded for Miguel Cabrera, but the Tigers gave up a ton of great looking prospects for him. I can't be mad with KW for either one of the moves that didn't work out. The only thing I don't like about KW is his stupid talk. Sometimes he has to learn to control his emotions and shut up.

I don't ignore that fact at all. I am sure that is not the only reason he gave us a big discount and wanted to stay here. This is not the same situation as Jermaine Dye. This is the only organization Buehrle has ever known. This is the place he won a world series title and threw a no-hitter. This is the place where he was placed on the Wheaties box. He is the face of this organization. This is his home. I am sure he feels very comfortable here. I am sure he is disappointed that the Sox didn't get either one of those player, but to say he is miffed is going a little bit too far. I think you are ignoring these facts.

You are an idiot if you go after Roberts right now. He is a steroid freak and you don't know what else he was taking, even last year. I was all for Roberts, but not any longer. You can't trade for a guy like that. It would be like saying that you accept steroids or other performance enhancers and that there is nothing wrong with it.

So wtf is the rumored trade? I read this entire thread and not once have a seen what the rumored trade is. Coco and Bowden for what?

He took less money to stay here. I think we already know his feelings about Chicago and the White Sox. He loves this city and the organization. This would be an idiotic move.

You are correct. If you remember the Drysdale days you will recall that Hawk and Drysdale were a great team and it seemed like they respected each other a bunch.

Really? I thought the both were awful. Blackjack is a terrible announcer as is DJ. I don't know how you guys can like listening to that.

I probably saw the same game you did and I couldn't stand him. I have yet to hear DJ have chemistry with anyone. To each their own I guess. We share different opinions. I really can't stand him at all. I tend to tune him out.

So why can't sweeney be the White Sox CF/leadoff hitter during the 2008 season? At least have a chance to be? Do most see him as a 4A player and he really isn't a major league starter?

I can not stand DJ with or without Hawk. He is absolutely horrible. I haven't heard anyone as bad as him. He made Chip Caray tolerable.

Bulls***. DJ is the worst in the business. Farmer is actually pretty good and can be amusing. He complemented Rooney very well and they were a great broadcast team. Singleton is not bad and definitely not as bad as DJ, but he can definitely be upgraded. Farmer is definitely not the problem.

Is this just you thinking out loud or did you get this information from somewhere? I wouldn't want to deal Cabrera. f*** Lugo and Crisp. I don't want either one. Why would the White Sox trade Cabrera to get worse at the position with Lugo. I would rather have Owens than Crisp.

Yeah, if someone says that they did something only once after being caught then it is usually much more than that. I am pretty confident that he did it a lot more than one time. I am not saying that it helped his performance in anyway, but I wouldn't say he is honest or coming clean about this. Who knows what he has used since then to help his performance in anyway possible. I guess it was more than the red contacts after all.

That is odd that you think the White Sox got robbed. Most that follow baseball can't figure out what the hell the Angels are doing getting another starting pitcher and giving up a hell of a SS - one of the best SSs in the league, plus throwing in cash. They got an overpaid #3 or 4 starter for one of the best SSs in the league plus threw in some cash to the White Sox. BRILLIANT!

He is a decent pitcher - an innings eater. He is a 3 or 4. Danks should definitely be able to fill his shoes. The White Sox received a huge upgrade at shortstop by trading away an overpaid pitcher. That is not a big hit to the rotation and I have no idea what the Angels needed him for.

So tell us how you would have accomplished it. He did everything in his power to accomplish it. What would you have done differently to get these deals done?
