Totally agree.

I guess you and I are reading 2 different things then. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3026151

What if we sign Alexei Ramirez and put him in CF and bat him leadoff? CF Alexei Ramirez SS Orlando Cabrera 1B Paul Konerko DH Jim Thome RF Jermaine Dye C AJ Pierzynski LF Carlos Quentin 3B Josh Fields 2B Danny Richar That gives you 4 key components to your youth movement in Alexei Ramirez, Carlos Quentin, Josh Fields, and Danny Richar. Hopefully you can build around those guys in the near future. Speed, OBP, and athleticism - if it works out. I would much rather have and be more excited about Alexei Ramirez on this team than Fukudome.
-
I am sorry, but what the hell do you think the White Sox are going to get for Konerko, AJ, Dye, and Thome? What kind of young talent do you think we will get in return? Realistically now. These are not superstars that we are trading. We aren't trading a Miguel Cabrera or a Johan Santana. What are you looking to get in return that you think will eventually make this team better in the future? Please tell me. I would love to know.

but can't play CF........ s*** in one hand, piss in the other. 6 in one hand, 1/2 a dozen in the other. It seems like the White Sox want to get back to pitching and defense. CF is a pretty important part of a baseball team's defense. Plus who said Fuk can leadoff? .265 - .280 avg, 20 HRs and 20 SBs hardly sounds like a leadoff guy and that is what they are projecting him to be. I don't get it. I think a lot of people are overrating this guy and just wanting the unknown and wishing for the best.
-
It was stated that he is decent in CF, but he is not a true CFer. Trying to force someone in a position that has never played MLB for 15 million a year (which was the rumor) doesn't sound like a successful plan to me. I don't see how he was a fit with the White Sox unless they were planning on moving Dye. Can they? Was Dye given a no trade? Rowand is a better fit, but the Sox would still need a leadoff hitter if they go that route. Can Danny Richar possibly leadoff? I really like Cabrera in the 2 hole and don't want to move him at all.
-
I didn't know he no longer wanted to catch. Thanks for the information. I am not sure he would make a good 3rd baseman or LFer with his BA and power numbers. His defense is great, but not worth it with those offensive numbers in my opinion.
-
He has asked to be traded and Detroit will accomadate that request. Any interest in this guy? He always seemed to kill the Sox and plays very good defense. Maybe move him back to catcher? He it .236 with 14 HRs last year.
-
I would love this move. Put him in CF and have him leadoff. He will see more fastballs hitting leadoff and he has a ton of speed to create havoc once he is on base. This would be a great signing in my opinion. I am sure Contreras can help get this thing done. This team would then look a lot better if some of these young guys like Fields, Quentin, Ramirez, and Richar actually develop to their potential and come through. Then we still have Crede to trade for bullpen or SP help.

Everything Falling into place to get...

I would love to get Alexei Ramirez in a White Sox uniform. How much would it take to sign him? I think he would be a great addition and would be a huge upgrade in CF. I like that move a lot. What are the recent rumors about him? I heard about him and Cleveland a while ago, but that was the last I heard. Anyting more recent? -
I totally agree. I don't see the huge jump that everyone else does. I mean he went from 4 to 18 and back to 10 and 12. It seems pretty consistent and like you said, if you take out 8 during the crazy April he had with 8 HRs then it seems even more consistent. I mean this isn't Brady Anderson going from 16 to 50 and then back 18. Brian Roberts' stolen bases went from 27 to 36 to 50 last year. Maybe the steroids or HGH is making him faster and helping him steal more bases. I find the accusation to be ridiculous. That is just my opinion.

Sox looking at Fukudome, Bay, not Rowand
southsideirish replied to beck72's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
16 per? For a player that has never played MLB and none of you people have seen play in person? For a player that will hit about .260 with 20 HRs and 20 SBs? I would rather have Rowand at 4 for 55. -

What kind of prospects do you expect back fot the aging veterans that we have? They will not be the type of prospects that you rebuild a minor league system with. You won't get the type of free agents that Florida received for Cabrera. You will be very disapointed in the prospects the White Sox receive in return for a Paul Konerko, Jermaine Dye, Jim Thome, Joe Crede, or AJ Pierzynski. Hell, Buehrle wasn't even getting the type of prosepcts KW wanted or expected. I don't get this whole trade everyone for prospects and rebuild. Rebuild with what? Rebuild with the crap prospects we get in return for the aging veterans that we don't even want? We don't have a superstar type player on this team to trade that will bring us the top prospects in return that we could build upon. We don't have a Santana, Haren, Bedard, or Cabrera. We don't. This whole notion of trading guys for prospects and rebuilding is nonsense and utter bulls***. -
f*** the cost. Cost in minor league prospects to get quality major leaguers like Roberts and Bedard? You make that move. The cost to extend their contracts? Use the money you were going to use for Hunter. You make this move any way that you can. You get this done if you are the White Sox because you NEED to.
-
Is Owens greater to or equal than Pie? I would trade Owens, Richar, Floyd, Broadway and Gio and more if we could get both Bedard and Roberts.
-
I am not willing to give him 18 million per either.
-
The White Sox can't match that offer if not better it? Come on. Plus include Bedard in the deal and the White Sox will give even more prospects. Owens, Gio, DLS, Danks, Richar, Broadway - they can have all of them. Then we sign Rowand. We just have basically replaced Danks with Bedard and Richar with Roberts. That would be tremendous.

Time to up the ante: Sign Bonds to a 1yr deal

yuck. I think I just threw up in my mouth. -
So you wouldn't give up Richar, Gio, and others for Roberts? He would make our offense so much better.
-
What would it take to get this guy? Here is our solution to our leadoff spot and 2nd base. Perfect fit. If we trade for him and sign Rowand I would be very happy. Do we have enough to offer to get both him and Bedard like the Tigers did with Cabrera and Willis. This would be a better fit for the White Sox if they could pull something like this off. I would be absolutely ecstatic if they could get either or both of these guys.
-
Why can't we go after both?
-
I will kill Jerry Owens and then you if this wish indeed comes true.
-
I don't know how true that is. I would say not very.
-
Matthews = HGH made. Is Rowand? I don't think so. He may have just been a late bloomer with his hitting. Hell if I know. I guess we will see this year. I am not saying Matthews was a bad signing. He has value. He is not worth 10 million per as a LFer though. Now that is overpaying. .252 18 HRs, 78 RBI, and 18 SBs with gold glove caliber CF play is probably worth 10 mil. Put him in LF and he is no longer worth that. Is .285 avg, .330 OBP, 15 HRs, 70 RBI, 10 SBs with gold glove caliber CF play worth 13.7 millon? I guess you can make an argument that it is given the going rate of CFers.

You said bingo and were praising his post there buttercup. Seems like you were doing more than just agreeing with 1 sentence in each paragraph.
