  1. QUOTE(Jake @ May 13, 2005 -> 02:09 PM) I'm going to be different. I say Garcia goes, I know I'll get b****ed at but for some reason I see him giving up the big hit with a lot on the line. He beat us in the playoffs.
  2. Great article, but no mention of Puffers Tavern?!?!? http://centerstage.net/bars/puffers.html
  3. Todd Helton is an absolute stud. Preston Wilson may be better than Dye but not $6 mill better. If I were stealing Rockies, I'd be looking at Shawn Chacon.
  4. Sweeney's been on fire lately. He and Anderson will soon be making the Cell fans very happy.
  5. It looks more likely that we'll be drafting a shortstop in round 1.
  6. The draft will have a number of quality shortstops and I think the Sox system is relatively weak at the position. Our best shortstop in the minors isn't Lopez it's a guy by the name of Robert Valido who plays for the Winston-Salem Warthogs. Check out his stats at... http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil...milb&pid=449804
  7. Everything Hermanson touches this year turns to gold. DOUBLE PLAY!!!
  8. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 11, 2005 -> 12:51 PM) Jermaine with a single to score another run 5-1 Sox and that is all for Brazelton For those scoring at home, that is 3, two out RBIs As a result of Konerko and Dye hitting the ball to right field. Good work guys.
  9. This sounds pretty cool... http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/news/...10worldcup.html Baseball’s long wait for a World Cup-style international tournament, with the game's best players representing their countries, is over. Two Major League Baseball Players Association officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Major League Baseball and the MLBPA will announce either Wednesday or Thursday that a 16-team tournament will be held during spring training of 2006. “We’re working on a joint press release to be issued over the next few days,” one union official told Baseball America. “It’s a collaboration--we’re hammering out what we’re going to say and how we’re going to say it.” MLB spokesman Pat Courtney declined comment. One high-ranking baseball official with knowledge of the pending announcement said suggestively, “I would be here,” in reference to the owners meetings that are being held through Thursday at MLB’s offices in Manhattan. Tentatively called the “World Baseball Classic,” the tournament will be staged across three weeks next March and will be the first full-scale event involving major league players representing their home countries. Olympic tournaments included only amateur players from 1984-1996, after which professionals have been eligible. Because of scheduling conflicts, however, international competition has generally involved minor leaguers.
  10. QUOTE(The Critic @ May 11, 2005 -> 06:46 AM) I love this place after a couple of losses....ugh.... You and me both...
  11. I noticed that Podsednik has been thrown out twice stealing this year in 19 tries. Why the hell did Ozzie send him those two times? Hermanson has given up no runs this year. Why don't we just pitch him the 7-9 innings every single night?
  12. If I was managing this team we'd be 33-0. Because everytime Shingo gave up a homerun in the 9th this year I wouldn't have put him in the game. And, every time one of our runners gets thrown out on the bases I wouldn't have had them steal. :banghead
  13. Even if TB could be considered a bad team. It seems obvious that we are beating the bad teams this year. Our record is 24-8 people. During a baseball season you eventually lose games against everyone. When we start losing more often than not against teams like TB and KC then we can get concerned.
  14. I'll take a 2-0 start. Now, Freddy's in charge!!!
  15. I actually appreciate JUGS posts. But, I recognize them for what they generally are -- good statistical analysis that does not even remotely take into consideration things like team chemistry. The reason not to make this trade is team chemistry. Konerko is one of our leaders and right now we are the best team in baseball. It would be moronic to make such a huge change in the clubhouse right now. Note to JUGS: Keep up the good analysis though. It's always informative.
  16. QUOTE(Finkelstein @ May 3, 2005 -> 11:50 AM) Brian Anderson vs. White Sox... http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/bvsp?pitcherId=2994 Rowand owns him, hopefully this game will get him on track. Late inning pinch hitter, Freddy Garcia??? Too bad we don't have Frank tonight. Frank has 4 dingers in 29 at bats against Anderson.
  17. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 3, 2005 -> 09:08 AM) It's cloudy downtown Isn't it always cloudy downtown?
  18. I'd hate to see us lose Konerko but we can't afford to pay him $10 million per year. I'm not convinced that he'll find that kind of money on the open market. If he hits 40 HR's and drives in 120 runs maybe but good hitting first baseman are not in that high of a demand. I hope he's back next year at 25 million over 3 years.
  19. b****, b****, b****... Obviously they want another middle infielder on the roster with Ozuna and Uribe's injuries still nagging them. The reason it took three days is pretty clear... they know that Lopez is not ready. Cheer up! We're 17-7.
  20. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 29, 2005 -> 03:13 PM) I'm sorry, but Harris starting at SS tonight is bulls***. To play at least two MLB games with guys who have never played there before it absolutely inexcusable. I know KW would rather starve his own kids, but it's time we release Timo and call up another middle infielder. With Harris being able to play in the outfield (poorly, but still much better than he plays SS), there's no use for Timo. The real problem here is that Ozuna is also hurt. I imagine the Sox expected he'd back up Uribe at shortstop.
  21. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Apr 29, 2005 -> 03:11 PM) Do you have the lineups? They just announced the Willie thing on ESPN 1000.
  22. QUOTE(mreye @ Apr 29, 2005 -> 07:39 AM) Great stuff. This team seem to be a bunch of fun guys. According to Bruuuuucccceeeee Lhevine, Paulie was none to pleased to be scheduled to film this spot at 8am in the morning after returning from the west coast.
  23. QUOTE(Brian @ Apr 29, 2005 -> 03:08 PM) Harris starting at SS tonight. ugh Get well soon, Uribe!!!
  24. Tulo also sounds like one of those good character guys, like Josh Fields. They are both good guys to build an organization around.
