  1. "And I'm gonna look him straight in the eye, and I'm gonna tell him what a cheap, lying, no good, rotten, four-flushing, lowlife, snake-licking, dirt-eating, inbred, overstuffed, ignorant, blood-sucking, dog-kissing, brainless, dickless, hopeless, heartless, fat-ass, bug-eyed, stiff-legged, spiny-necked, worm-headed sack of monkey s*** he is! Hallelujah! Holy s***! Where's the Tylenol!"
  2. I love to see us get David Eckstein. I think the Cardinals are after him though and they can outbid us.
  3. According to http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1951346 the deal is dead and the Drew thing is just the Dodgers moving on...
  4. This may effect the trade... The Dodgers and J.D. Drew have agreed to a five-year, $55 million contract, the Bergen Record reports. That's a better deal than what they reportedly offered Adrian Beltre. A healthy Drew might be worth as much as Beltre, but this a player whose career high in games played is 145 and whose second highest total is 135. He shouldn't have gotten this much money. 5. This would be an excellent move. It's likely he puts up better numbers than Clement and we still have money to add depth at middle infield and catcher.
  6. It would appear that Bruce Levine's sources are misleading him.
  7. From www.whitesox.com The White Sox tried to upgrade behind the plate earlier in the offseason, but a trade with Pittsburgh for Jason Kendall never materialized. Williams also squelched any rumors concerning the imminent signing of A.J. Pierzynski on Tuesday, stating that the White Sox will go to camp in Tucson with Davis and Burke. In fact, Williams denied a report that the White Sox had offered a contract to their former foe from Minnesota. "That is false. We never made him an offer," said Williams of the pursuit of Pierzynski. "We were doing some background work, some research on him, and determined he was not a fit with the White Sox."

    Polanco

Maybe Wade's been reading this board and figures he can get Babe Ruth in a trade for Polanco.
  9. I'm finding myself agreeing with you too much today, Jeckle. Maybe there's something in my coffee. But, really, pitching has to be the priority and I'm sure it is. I also wouldn't mind El Duque. If it is El Duque I'm sure we can afford to sign both him and AJ. Does anyone know if El Duque and Contreras got along in NY?
  10. According to earlier reports on ESPN 1000, no, the White Sox are also pursuing AJ.
  11. ADAM RUSSELL Hometown: North Olmstead, Ohio College: Ohio Univ. Height: 6-foot-8 Weight: 260 pounds Class: '04 Bats: right Throws: right Born: April 14, 1983 Signed: June 22, 2004 Adam Russell performed great all season for the Great Falls White Sox, whether as a reliever, or as a starter, which he became late in the season. After being drafted in the 8th round in this year’s draft, the 6-foot-8, 250 lb. Russell, who looks more like a Power Forward in basketball than a baseball player, went 4-0 with a 2.37 ERA in 15 appearances (4 starts). The huge righty out of Ohio also struck out 33 in 38 IP, while walking 18. While neither his strikeout nor walk numbers are great, you definitely can’t argue his effectiveness. Russell was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the sixth round of the 2004 First-Year Player Draft. "It was a dream come true," said Russell. "There are no words to describe what I am going through right now." Russell, the 179th overall pick, appeared in 38 games with 24 starts in his first three years at Ohio. He is 6-11 with a save and a career ERA of 6.28. In 166 innings pitched, the 6-8 right-hander has struck out 126 batters. After a slow start to his junior season, Russell came alive in his last eight appearances posting a 1-1 record and a 2.69 ERA. In 40 innings pitched he allowed 43 hits. He also walked just 18 batters against 40 strikeouts. Russell, a 20th round pick by the Florida Marlins in 2000, finished his junior year at 1-3 with a 4.50 ERA, striking out 61 batters in 64 innings of work. He was the third Mid-American Conference player selected through the first 18 rounds of the Amateur draft. Eastern Michigan's Brian Bixler was picked by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the second round (52), while Miami's Mike Ferris was tabbed just eight picks later (60) by the St. Louis Cardinals. MLB.Com Comment on Adam Russell TALL, STRONG, SOLID FRAME. WELL PROPORTIONED. BROAD SHOULDERS. LEG STRENGTH. SIMILAR BODY TYPE TO JEFF NELSON. HIGH 3/4 ARM SLOT. EASY DELIVERY. GOOD RHYTHM. 12. Yes, Jeckle. We are in "agreeance."
  13. Ya'll are freaking out over nothing. The reports I've heard regarding Davis do not say that we will be paying him MORE money than he was going to get before he was non-tendered. And, we need Davis on the roster whether or not we sign AJ. We need more than one catcher on the roster. Hell, many teams carry three.
  14. That is probably why we are negotiating with AJ.
  15. ESPN 1000 reporting both that we are working on resigning Davis and along with other teams trying to sign AJ. They also reported that talks broke off last night with Shoe.
  16. It's all about how they spend the $6 mill. I think we have a consensus.
  17. I think this is a very fair point. Though unlike the Dodgers case, we were clearly the agressors in this move. We wanted Pod, whether we like it or not. And, I don't think we're f***ed -- not yet anyway.
  18. I didn't say you weren't a real fan. My point was -- HOW MANY TIMES CAN YOU SAY THE SAME s***!?!?! Point made. You think Kenny sucks and this CWS team is gonna suck. We get it. You obviously have the right to post whatever you want to but I beg of some of you to recognize the repetitive nature of almost everything you write. I will now go vomit on myself. :puke
  19. Given the fact that we were able to sign Garcia to a 3 year extension at $27 million I think this trade was a good one. I don't think we could find a pitcher with the extended amount of success that Garcia has had for less than $10-$12 million per season now. Hell, freakin' Clement almost got what we are paying Garcia. Plus, I don't think Ozzie would have seen Reed as a potential leadoff hitter. Reed is a good on-base guy but Ozzie was looking for someone who could also steal bases. We're clearly building with the Florida Marlins in mind.
  20. How many times can some of you say the same negative s***? Ya'll need a therapist or a new team to root for.
  21. They are indeed reporting this as a done deal on ESPN News...
  22. You're assuming that we're giving them all three guys. The reports I've heard is that it would be two of the three. I don't like this trade if it includes Garland, as I have said before. But, if its Konerko and Marte for Vazquez I think its an excellent move.
  23. Trading Konerko to upgrade from Garland to Vazquez doesn't make any sense unless someone is picking up a substantial portion of Vazquez's salary. Vazquez is better than Garland but this is too much.
