  1. A month ago I said the same thing but Valentin has been hotter than hell this spring.
  2. I think Ozzie's making the right call on Willie today. Being in the opening day lineup is important to these guys. During the season, Uribe may get most of the LHP playing time but for opening day the "starter" needs to be in the lineup. Willie really came on strong at the end of spring training. Hopefully, it will continue.
  3. The game appears to be on WGN which means I will head home from work at lunch, open a tall bottle of Stone Brewing Company's Arrogant Bastard Ale, kick back and watch the White Sox kick some ass. I love opening day!
  4. Loiaza was taken out of today's game in the first inning due to a stiff neck. There was some brief April Fools stuff about him missing 4-6 weeks. The Trib is reporting that Ozzie says he won't miss a start.
  5. Being in Colorado, I didn't hear Hawk but his involvement is what gave the joke away to me.
  6. 56 users... and headed for 100!
  7. Do you really think Hawk would so forcefully object to something the White Sox really did? I like Hawk and all but he is a homer.
  8. This must be crap as not a single news outlet on the web is reporting it.
  9. N Cotts (W,1-1) 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB. 1 K
  10. Mags was 4-4 with a homerun and four RBIs.
  11. Willie seems to have turned it on over the last week. Hopefully, its a sign of things to come.
  12. Too bad today's game wasn't on radio. $14.95 and I still don't get to hear the damn game.
  13. I will await judgement. I was simply voicing concern. Obviously, Spring Training is not always a very good indicator of success.
  14. I was out in Arizona over the weekend and thru Tuesday's game against the Diamondbacks. I saw the Sox play the Brewers on Monday and the Diamonbacks on Tuesday. I have to agree that I was not very impressed with Schoenweiss. He seems to have good stuff but I don't know if its a lack of concentration or what but much like last year after we acquired him he has stretches where the hitters just seem to be hitting the hell out of the ball off him. I raise the lack of concentration issue because it doesn't seem like a pitcher with the stuff he has should be hit the way he was hit on Tuesday or last year. Willie Harris had two hits on Tuesday and so did Jeremy Reed. Both good news. One of Harris' hits was a blooper over the second baseman that he turned into a double with his speed. On Monday, Brian Anderson had a triple which was well hit and he seemed to get around the bases pretty well. With regard to speed, Jeremy Reed seemed to lack it when he was held up at third after a basehit Tuesday afternoon. Tuesday, Joey Cora made a huge error sending Frank Thomas home on a basehit. Thomas was out by 20 feet. The White Sox looked great at the plate on Tuesday other than Miguel Olivo who looked plain awful striking out twice. He was utterly clueless against Brandon Webb even though everyone else in the lineup seemed to be hitting Webb well. Shingo had another poor performance on Monday. Damaso Marte and Kelly Wunsch are still very good. And, Jim Parque pitched in relief of Brandon Webb for the Diamondbacks on Tuesday. The Sox hit him pretty hard. The weather was beautiful down there. I highly recommend the trip.
  15. Thomas hits a hard two-out double to left. He's 2-2 (single, double).
  16. Valentin is again batting left-handed against left-handed pitching. This is good news even if Jose is now 0-2 today doing it.
  17. White Sox batting in the bottom of third leading 3-1. Uribe at bat.
  18. Rockies are retired in the top of the second, White Sox coming to bat.
  19. Apparently, the game is on the radio back there in Chicago on ESPN network -- I believe AM1000.
