  1. Bartender... Joe-Boo needs a refill.
  2. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 09:46 AM) PS - on topic, Ozzie is a little different I would say. The most accurate statement made in these entire 33 pages.
  3. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 09:43 AM) Don't get me wrong.. I love the record. I just fear the walls caving in. We would hardly be White Sox fans if we didn't fear the walls caving in.
  4. For decades, managers have been abused for their use of relief pitchers. No less than managers like Earl Weaver and Tony LaRussa have been crucified by critics for their use of relief pitchers. I remember when LaRussa was managing us it was so bad before he was fired that us so-called fans would boo everytime he stepped out of the dugout. I think history bares out that us so-called fans were morons with regard to our judgment of LaRussa.
  5. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 09:36 AM) He still has his apologists, that's the scary part. Count me as one. 35-18.
  6. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 09:27 AM) I am throwing it out to everyone right now to cut out the bulls***. If you want to bicker, do it on PM or email or somewhere else. Not here. Agreed, Aboz.
  7. QUOTE(quickman @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 09:23 AM) Now for my low blow: I am happier as each day goes by that I do not have a wife that uses profanity all the time, and even though I am guilty of it regulary It just doesn't sound very classy coming from a woman. It's fine for you to have that personal opinion with regard to your choice of wives. My personal opinion is that this is an awful sexist thing to say on a public forum and I'd rather not see such opinions shared on this site. If you want to lambast everyone who uses profanity that's fine, but suggesting that somehow it is more wrong for women to use profanity is more than just a "low blow." You have the right to your opinion, but so do I. If there's any doubt about it -- I am a white man.
  8. QUOTE(He_Gawn @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 05:04 PM) I'm hoping we find another guy like Gio. I'm really liking him. Frankly, our draft last year is looking absolutely fantastic, even though the jury is still out on our #1 pick. We did a great job taking advantage of all the supplemental picks we had. Between Gio, Ray Liotta, Wes Whisler, and Tyler Lumsden we immediately solidified our minor league pitching. And, if Josh Fields and Donald Lucy work out it will end up a draft to remember. The key here isn't even whether these guys ever succeed for us in the Major Leagues. The key is that these guys have given us big time assets. For that reason, I am excited to see what we do this year.
  9. As much as I hate both franchises, I can take the Cubs and/or Red Sox picks that nobody has offered to do yet.
  10. This is a tough call. The Rox used to pick pitchers every single year but the last two years have drafted quality athletes in Ian Stewart and Chris Nelson. Thus, I'm tempted and I think they'll be tempted to take Andrew McCutchen. But, its probably more likely they go back to taking pitchers this year especially when there are a couple quality college pitchers available. Luke Hochevar has pitched in Colorado with success and the Rox aren't afraid of Boras clients. So, I'm going with Hochevar the 6-5 righty from Tennessee here.
  11. I'm on the Board for the Rox and I'll have a pick for ya'll soon.
  12. QUOTE(thomsonmi @ May 31, 2005 -> 02:23 PM) I think there's some debate about those circumstances. I sure hope Dustin was "tight" because otherwise not putting him after Iguchi's error was simply indefensible. He's the best reliever in baseball right now. The bases were loaded with one out and we were up only 1 run. You have to go with the big gun at that point. You just have too. The decision to pinch hit for Iguchi was damn close to just as bad as the Dustin screw up. Iguchi is the best hitter on the team so far this year and frankly I don't think that's debateable. Everett has flat out sucked for three weeks. And, Everett's batting average against right-handers is awful. I heard later that Shields has been dominating right-handed hitters so far this year which makes me think that at least Ozzie's decision was fact-based. At the same time, you have to let Iguchi bat there. He's been so clutch all year. I levy these complaints as one of Ozzie's number one defenders on this board. I think he had a bad day yesterday that's all. Otherwise, I continue to be thrilled with the job Ozzie is doing as our manager.
  13. QUOTE(Be Good @ May 31, 2005 -> 01:32 PM) As Steff said, Hermy told the Oz that he couldn't pitch. So its not fair to rip Ozzie on that. I think there's some debate about those circumstances. 14. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 31, 2005 -> 12:10 PM) I love the slogan. I actually like the slogan too.
  15. Which is why I have no problem with us ignoring Boras clients...
  16. Are we supposed to take the guy we'd take or the guy we think the team will take?
  17. I'd gladly take another couple teams if its needed.
  18. I'd be happy to do the Rockies since I know a little about their minor league system already.
  19. Welcome to the reason we ought to be giving Brian Anderson a shot. (Me being a broken record.)
  20. QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ May 27, 2005 -> 03:28 PM) My settings are different, I view 30 posts on each page. Sorry about that. It's as long as most game threads. WTF, was it that bad of an injury? No, just a slow Friday afternoon at work for too many of us. There's a lot of unrelated stuff in those 16 pages.
  21. QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ May 27, 2005 -> 03:20 PM) :fyou Daily Herald!
  22. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 27, 2005 -> 03:24 PM) We could all greet them at the Cell on Monday against the Angels.
  23. QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ May 27, 2005 -> 03:18 PM) I'm certainly not going to read all 8 pages, but damn this sucks for the cubs. I hate to see anyone get hurt, especially when pitchers injure their pitching arms. Best of luck to him in his recovery. 8 pages? Looks like 16 to me.
