  1. Look - Here's the definition of the word congratulate: con·grat·u·late ( P ) Pronunciation Key (kn-grch-lt, -grj-, kng-) tr.v. con·grat·u··lat·ed, con·grat·u··lat·ing, con·grat·u··lates To express joy or acknowledgment, as for the achievement or good fortune of (another). To express acknowledgement for the achievement of another = "I respect the way he plays the game".
  2. I know he plays hard and I don't think he'd ever cheap shot me," Burke said. "I have nothing bad to say. He plays hard, and I respect the way he plays the game." Sounds like congratulations to me.
  3. Temper, temper little boy. Want to throw a ball at me? It'll make you feel better. Than I'll just outhit, outfield, outrun and outthink you just like the Twins did the Sox.
  4. Bad comparison. When the Sox swept the Twins it left the Twins only 1 game out. One thing for sure, KW has got to drop the phone now and not invest one more penny or one more player on this team. He should just wait and see if the Twins somehow collapse or if Frank or Maggs returns.
  5. Hmmm, we must have gotten swept because we didn't hit Torii Hunter in the head or knock him down after running out a ground ball. We would have had all that momentum, you know. If only we'd knocked him down. Damn, we'd be in first by now.
  6. This is like talking to a wall :banghead , so maybe it's not worth it. You are so wound up about hitting Torii Hunter. It's such a loser attitude. It's the attitude of a team that finishes in second place. If somebody did that to the Yankees or the Cardinals, do you honestly think they would spend one minute worrying about the silliness you have spent two days whining about? They would go out and win the next game - and then the next game after that. And for Pete's sake, nobody over the age of 12 gets momentum from hitting somebody else with a baseball. You get momentum from winning.
  7. At least I know how to spell missile.
  8. Maybe you heard a different interview than I did. In the interview I heard Burke said it was a good solid hit and was perfectly legal. You still want to go out and throw at Hunter? Maybe that will make you feel better.
  9. I don't know how many different ways to say the same damn thing. The b**** slapping is the beating the Twins administered to the Sox by not just winning the games but killing the Sox in every phase of the game. The hit by Hunter was not a b**** slap - it was a hard-ass play by a hard-ass all star center fielder on a multiple division champ team who has consistently beaten the Sox the last few years and looks like they'll do it again. If the Sox want to show them who is tougher - get out on the field and win today's game. Otherwise shut up and go home.
  10. The message that the Twins can push the Sox around is that they went out on the field the last two days and pushed them around. Throwing at somebody and then getting your ass kicked in every phase of the game for two days is just stupid.
  11. Every unbiased (not Harrelson, Melton or DJ) baseball commentator said that the collision was well within the rules and Hunter simply showed that he and his team have the heart and desire to win the game and the division. Even Burke himself congratulated Hunter on a good hard play. Hitting Hunter or anybody else was just being a crying sissy. Anybody who advocated it knows nothing about playing baseball (or is such a homer on TV that they have to say it). The best way to show the Sox's heart and to rally the team and the fans was to win the next game. Going out, once again, and getting their ass handed to them showed the Sox right now lack talent and heart.
  12. um, where did I say that? rolleyeyes.gif All I said was that I think KW decides he has invested enough in this team if the Sox are 3.5 games out by the trade deadline or if they're around 1.5 games out he pulls the trigger on a significant deal for help.
  13. I've been reading all the scattered posts and many of them are telling people to relax because we'll only be 3.5 games out with 2 months to go. Their thinking is that the Sox can easily make up these 3.5 games because the Twins schedule is more difficult and there's so many games left. 2 things, IMO, worry me though. 1. The trade deadline is in a few days. KW has got to make a decision whether to give up more minor league (or major league) talent for this year or save it for future years. If the Sox are 4-5 games out by then, I think he waits till next year. 2. The loss of Maggs and Frank basically mean that the current team CANNOT beat the Twins. And even if somehow they miraculously did win the division, they're going nowhere in the playoffs. So, I really think that the game tomorrow is critical to the rest of the season. If the Sox are 1.5 games out, KW goes for some trades and gives the Sox a chance. If they're 3.5 games out (or more by 7/31) he calls it quits.
  14. I don't think anybody should need another minute to see which direction this team is going. Without substantial help this team is at best a second place team and trading Olivo/Reed/Morse/Rausch will have got us exactly nothing.
  15. Wrong. This series will make or break the Sox because I think it will determine whether KW stands pat or goes for help. If the Sox end up 3.5 games out after this series, which it looks like they will, KW does nothing and the Sox come in 7 games out in 2nd place. If they are 1.5 games back or .5 game up, KW goes out and gets some help. This series, because it's so close to the trading deadline and the Sox need help so bad, determines whether the Sox have a chance this year.
  16. I'm glad you finally came to your senses and agree with me.
  17. Wow!? Drilling the guy doesn't ensure a Sox loss...playing the way they did tonight ensures a Sox loss. Drilling the guy doesn't ensure a Sox win...playing better ensures a Sox win. And all that matters is whether the Sox win - not drilling anybody. Forget about the absolute stupidity of worrying about the Twins confidence level - it's sky high because they came into town and kicked our ass and they're the division champs and have had the Sox's number for years. Not because Hunter drilled Jamie f...ing Burke! Geez.
  18. I read his post. He said that you bring your team together by letting the opposition know that they can't drill your catcher. He also said that they gain confidence if you don't retaliate by beaning the player that drilled your catcher. That's dumb. The division champs don't give a rat's ass whether or not you don't like them drilling your catcher as long as they keep kicking your ass! They'll laugh all the way into the playoffs after the Sox bean Torii Hunter and end up trailing the Twins by 5 games again.
  19. I never said the umps would toss Garcia.
  20. A b**** would throw at the guy and lose. I'd rather put a beating on them like they did to the Sox tonight and ultimately win the division. Everything else is just crying.
  21. Now let me talk even slower to you. You get back at them by beating them, not by plunking Hunter and losing. If the Sox win, they don't need to plunk Hunter. Remember, in case you forgot, they're the division champs, not the Sox. They don't need to run over a minor leaguer like Jamie Burke to gain confidence, they're the champs and the Sox are the perennial runners-up. Hope there's not too many big words in there for you.
  22. I don't think the Twins needed any more confidence against the Sox. I'm certain they know they will come out on top of this division once again. That's why they have no problem coming in here and literally kicking ass. The only way to shut them up is to win this division. If the Sox plunk Hunter and lose, the Twins have every right to laugh in our face.
