  1. Lonzo made material adjustments to his 3 - his first 2 seasons in the NBA he average 30-31% and than 3rd year took a major jump. I believe Lonzo's 3rd season would have been when he was 23/24 years old for reference as well. Also - just because Lonzo made major enhancements does not mean the Giddey will go from 30-31% in his 1st two years to a high volume 40% 3pt shooter like Lonzo did by year 4 and 5.
  2. Probably not - but I can't really argue this trade that much. If you asked me Giddey or the OKC #12 pick or whatever first rounder they had this year, I would have told you give me Giddey. Giddey isn't even available for Caruso back at last year's deadline. Bulls are buying a guy in year 3 at a low coming off a series that OKC lost where he wasn't a good schematic fit. He has been a 3 year starter, I have to imagine his off the court issues impacted him as well (now if we want to rip this move for that reason that is fine by me). But in terms of pure basketball move - I don't think trading a 31 year old pending UFA - who is a great role player and a GREAT get for OKC for a 21 year old who has been a starting caliber player on a very good NBA team (and whose strenght's probably weren't ascentuated by his teammates given he had to play more off ball than his skillset would indicate - as would 98% of the league if you were playing next to Shae). I also happen to think, more often than not, NBA group think isn't so good. Last year it was Celtics maybe paid too much for Jrue and Bucks were in business getting Dame. Same with Celtics picking up Porzinkis when they did - no one viewed that as a great move. Or Kyrie was a trainwreck....almost anyone could have picked him up last year....but than he puts it all together with Luka. Just saying - Bulls are paying for a guy at his high and NBA players at his age continue to develop a long time. Plenty of guys who continue to take material steps forward at 21 and beyond - so he already has set his floor as an NBA starting caliber player (not star) with potential to go further and as an RFA you at least have control. If Bulls keep Demar to be a vet around the youngsters - fine, I get that, but I can't imagine Demar coming here to do that job (I have to imagine he wants to play in the playoffs). So go younger, they are going to add another young player with their pick...if they resign Patrick Williams they will stay super young - at that point they absolutely need to find some quality vets though to make sure you have good vets, even if they aren't great players, who can make sure the work ethic and that is instilled. One other difference with the Bulls - I don't love Billy Donovan - but he is a legitimate NBA caliber coach who is actually very well respected and liked in the league. He isn't Pedro Grifol or Boylan and I think giving him a younger nucleus that will push tempo is maybe not a bad thing. Note: I don't like our front office - I just think their lack of action for 2+ years when things were twindling made no sense, so I don't like that they are getting this chance - but this move isn't terrible, just like Getz, as bad as this team is and while I would argue he shouldn't have got the job, I think since he's gotten here they have at least taken steps to improve things. It isn't like he came in and signed 2 more Benitendi type deals to pretend compete. He signed veteran stop gap guys to 1 year deals and made some trades and I have to imagine is going to trade some more players, including some of those stop gaps he acquired. So on paper - the minor league talent should be better - regardless of how bad the major league team is. We can rip the free agent/trades he made with veteran catchers - but Fedde, Pham, Grossman, & Dejong are going to get the Sox some decent pieces. So what that Lopez, Maldy, and the other catcher won't pan out? We also probably can deal Brebbia if he can build on the more positive momentum and get something for Wilson. I'm not saying they will get a ton for Brebbia - but something. So the way I see it - I think his off-season moves will end up a net positive in terms of the give back to the Sox and the misses were very manageable misses (as in - one year deals - and you know when you know when you are doing this - you are going to have hits and misses - but at this point I actually think relative to free agent expectations, he actually did pretty decent as a whole). Plus he supported Crochet moving to starting pitcher - which if teams are willing to pay a premium - is another big move that happened under his watch (also to Crochet's credit and the organizational pitching support staff).
  3. I will caveat - if Zach is dealt, I think it happens between now and draft night - don’t see it dragging out past than. If market isn’t their by than, it isn’t showing up…at that point you probably have to plan on first part of this year being the Zach rehabilitation plan where you do everything you can to improve his trade value.
  4. I am thinking this is the start of rebuild - so you got a guy who is 21, long, athletic and a very good passer who started 80 games for a 1 seed. He is not a good 3 point shooter which is his major issue - but he has improved each of past 3 years there and is literally 21. I love Caruso and I get the hype over draft picks but we weren’t getting a top 5 pick for Caruso. Should they have gotten a pick or some 2nd rounders, sure but I don’t know it matters a ton. I don’t have a major opinion on Giddey cause I haven’t watched a ton of his game - but trading a 30 year old elite role player for a 21 year old player who will be an RFA (so Bulls control him) who is like 4th in the league in triple doubles the past few years and had a pretty damn good 2nd year before taking a step back this past year (but his per minutes production was still pretty good)…isn’t something I can get too mad about. At least roster is getting a lot younger and I think this probably makes retaining our own draft pick more likely. But Ayo, Coby, Godfrey…not great but at least it is some youth…depending on what they do with Williams (we all know I am not a fan but he is young too)…than make sure you have some quality vets but at least you are giving a ton of minutes to young players and seeing if they can grow (none are stars but maybe 25pick becomes something and than see what happens after they dump Vuc and Lavine (or at this point maybe Lavine isn’t an awful Option running for a few months on this squad putting up empty stats (but regaining some trade value) and sign and trade Demar for some picks. After last few years of going in on vets and doing nothing I can’t get too mad at getting a young player who has shown something and certainly has real potential.
  5. To be honest - I just want different. If different blows up than no excuse for new front office and maybe they luck into a lottery pick and can finally start to go somewhere.
  6. They got younger. I suppose away from Shae maybe he can bloom a bit more? Super young - Ala Lauri Markanen was
  7. I actually was refreshed by the answer - it was honest. JR said his nonsense but it’s clear Getz is bringing it down to the studs - Pedro will be gone by end of the year. I don’t think Getz is greatest in world but what he is doing fundamentally has made sense. No long term deals / seems very open to dealing almost anyone not on a full rookie timeline - made a couple high risk high reward moves, some worked but some didn’t - but none had long term risk.
  8. I wonder if you slide him to like a once a week program for rest of the season - so more innings but more rest in between?
  9. Sosa - let’s keep hitting around order so he can hit a triple for the cycle!!! Or bullpen can blow it so we play extras hahah. I love west coast games when I can watch games easier.
  10. Baseball is fun when your team hits 4hrs!!! Way to go Lee!!!
  11. If you don’t get two legit prospects (not top 25 or anything) plus a power arm who could play in pen or some other quality flyer (or international money or draft picks), you hold onto him and see if he can do it for rest of the year and deal him on offseason. Dude is dealing and is for real. Not Crochet good but he would be a great get for any team in July. Note: Fingers crossed these guys stay healthy and keep dealing / hitting (in case of DeJong and hopefully Robert).
  12. He has 2.5 years of control. Whether you extend him or not that is plenty of control. Extending him is not a leverage thing to get more in trade it would purely be a we want to lock a front line starter into our rebuild. For the record - if Crochet hadn’t been consistently hurt, I would not be proposing to trade him, cause he has an elite arm, but with his checkered past and the Sox being the biggest small market club on the planet, you got to go get a haul for him.
  13. I think if you trade Crochet - you probably want a high end pitching prospect and a high end bat plus two other solid prospects. Same goes for Robert. I would also try to get some international slot and draft picks in these deals - seems like teams are more willing to ocassional give that up so take advantage of it.
  14. The thing is - my 9 year old saw same thing I did. Why was Lopez not on 2nd base on the ball that got away from the catcher the pitch before Vaughn hit the grounder.
  15. Ok Pedro. You’ll take a different flight back. Let this be the nail in the coffin.
  16. I will say as someone who has ripped Beckham a ton, he has gotten better.
  17. Would be huge if Wilson pitches well next few weeks - you know what contenders will pay for a quality reliever like him.
  18. He looked toast - those were two lousy sliders and his bat just looked slow and off.
  19. I don’t think he was going to get paid a bunch over last couple years - he has barely pitched. Given what he has done this year someone would give him something north of 75M for his arb years plus two years. If you are still healthy - than follow that up with a Rodon like deal.
  20. Let him get thrown out at home vs getting two outs and not trying
  21. Nice inning for Kopech. I legit forgot they still do this runner on 2nd in extra innings.
  22. Given his injury issue - I do understand the concept of - get a big bag of money for your first real payday now…guarantee yourself generational wealth for life.
  23. Im fine with TLR in an interim role too lol
  24. I really think if they keep this up on the road trip the club cans him.
