  1. Brando, I'm not getting at anyones throat in this debate.
  2. You can't blame Nardi for what happened with minor leaguers who never were at the big show, cause thats pretty much the only time Nardi would of touched him. You also can't look only at numbers, there are a lot of other things that point out. If it was up to numbers, then how come Liefer sucked. How come Harris hasn't turned into a stud already. Look at the hitters, plenty hit incredibly well, but never amount to a hill of beans at the major league level. There are so many things than just stats. Stats are key for those guys that don't have all the hype as its a great way to get recognized and hopefully be given a shot, while others kind of get the shot handed to them.
  3. Is that all he said? Right now I have a lot of doubt in regards to the Angels. Their staff is pretty banged up and the rotation doesn't look good as of now. Appier blows in my mind.

    Wright

Great article. I think we'll all know whats going on after he takes that second test. If it comes back clear and that he's got no damage, then this is just something that will go away with a bit of rest. If it isn't, then they'll have to fix it and I have no doubt Wright will be able to recover. The Sox are doing the (W)right thing in this.
  5. playing both sides is typically what most countries do that act like they are neutral.
  6. Hope your having a great 19th birthday Can't wait till the Dodgers/Sox games as well as the Angels/Sox games

    Wright

It just swelled up, so I'm assuming it wasn't one particular thing. They thought he was just sore and it would get better. They need to give him an MRI again, now that the swelling is down, imo. On a sidenote, arm injuries can be really funny like that. Wright could of hurt it as far back as last year, thrown two games and then it swelled up. Usually you can go one or two times with a hurt arm if you've rested it long enough, so its really hard to track when it exactly happens, unless of course it just blows on one pitch, but even then its hard, cause it may not of really been that pitch that caused it.
  8. Well, wasn't it Tipper Gore and Joseph Lieberman who were the big people involved with getting Family Guy off the air.
  9. Sweeney is phenomenal. Royals don't have the "name" recognition but they are pretty solid.
  10. Your numbers look pretty good, as well as semi conservative to me. I think Lee may have a few more rbi's, otherwise I don't have much disagreement. I'd also say Jimenez has a few less since he's at the top of the lineup.
  11. isn't he a rp or a closer? Yes. He did make a few starts with the Dodgers two years ago. He was also a closer/potential closer. Guy came kind of out of nowhere in the Dodgesr system and became a favorite of my dad, who went nuts when they traded him for Guellermo Mota (Another guy with an incredible arm, and I think we all have heard a bit about him)
  12. Speaking of Herges, this guy is damn good. Remember watching him with the Dodgers quite a bit and he could light it up on the radar, throw plenty of innings, but the Dodgers overworked him and he was hurt last year. He was healthy all spring and the Pirates were nuts to make this move, especially for Denny Reyes, another Dodgers reject.
  13. i heard you giving JB some love the other day...only why do you think we should switch him from pitcher to CF??? whats really sad is despite both these guys doing absolutely nothing since leavng the sox , kenny williams still came out of both deals as the loser...you gotta be talented to that I'm telling you Baggs, we got Majewski. Thats in regards to the JB deal, and the Ritchie deal won't be as horrilble as thought. It sucked losing Kip and Fogg, but out of them I really believe Kip is the only one that may develop into a #2 pitcher, with Fogg pretty much a #5.
  14. There's exceptions to every rule. But, overall, and more importantly recently, the Sox have been terrible while playing out west. Yep, every time i watch them over the past 3 or 4 years it has been ugly. I think it all started when the White Flag trade was made, cause that happened when the Sox were in Anaheim. I remember I was so pissed that day that I decided I would never root for the Sox again. That lasted till about the 6th inning, when I said, I just can't do it, I'll always love them.
  15. His changeup looked more then good when I saw it this spring, it looked fantastic. Now I'm sure it will have its ups and downs, but once fully perfected and confident, this may move Bartolo from a 1B ace to a 1A ace, meaning he's in a very very elite group. I sure hope we have this guy for a while, cause I am going to like watching him pitch (I think).
  16. Especially in regards to Rauch because we haven't seen him at the major league level. I will also say Wright won't be sucessful unless 100% so he needs to sit down, get healthy and then come back. Most likely, surgery, my take at least and I'm not a doctor.
  17. First off, welcome aboard Soxfan. Secondly, I love the idea of adding another pitcher. I guess I'm one of the only ones. I like Herges, but he's only a reliever in my mind, especially after all his arm troubles. Herges would be a great pick up, if the Sox weren't so deep in this area. To me Reynolds or Finley would be perfect fits, especially if one of our 4th or 5th guys struggles. Loazia doesn't have impressive career numbers and you don't know what Stewart will do. Finley will be around longer then Reynolds (as in available longer; thats my guess). Reynolds would be a sweet pickup. Sign him cheap, give him incentives and see what he can do. If Wright is down a long time, then we could be in some deep trouble with only 3 effective starters cause we truly don't know how Stewart, Loiaza or Rauch will pan out.
  18. I'd take Bako or Miller as long as the Sox weren't giving up a top prospect. Give them Dellaero, we get a catcher.
  19. Its nice to see someone in the media who has a lot of confidence in the Sox. I just hope all the players got confidence in themselves, cause this is going to be a very good team.
  20. I second that. To all those that have joined recently, welcome aboard. Its great to have more Sox fans here
  21. SN Report: Sox Place Wright on 15-Day DL By Mario Scalise March 28, 2003 SoxNet.net
  22. How about we give him a fifty cent cd?
  23. Well, he had as good if not better stuff and maturity than Kerry Wood and Mark Prior. Just say you've never seen him pitch healthy and avoid embarassment. Besides, I never said he was a "HOF player", just that he had "HOF ceiling". Too bad his arm fell off. You only mentioned a FEW pitchers from different organizations. I mentioned no less than 12-15 quality prospects from just one. Not such an aberration. (Look at Cubs: Kerry Wood is still relatively healthy and Zambrano, Cruz, Prior are looking great. And we had BETTER, deeper for sure, pitching system) Quit yer extrapolatin' in other words. Embarassment???? What are you talking about. I saw him pitch in 2000, but even then that was after one surgery, from him screwing up his arm with the GIANTS. You talk as if all our top 10 prospects are going to become stars. They are called prospects, not stars when you talk about them because most of them will fail, and some will come out of nowhere and make it. I understand a lot of them put up good numbers in AA, AAA, etc, but that doesn't guarantee anything. You also need to make do with many things. Also, look at Wood, healthy??? Look at the injuries he had, now he's healthy, one season over 200 innings though in his entire career. You need to realize not everyone is a hall of famer until they prove it. If everyone that had HOF potential lived up to it, then the hall of fame would be useless and everyteam would have 9 hall of famers on it.
  24. Dellaero gave up pitching. He's either going to make the majors as a shorstop or nothing.
