  1. Bottom of 2nd -Crede lines out to 2nd -Rowand gets out somehow -Paul strikes out(I think it was Paul) To the top of the 3rd we go, still 2-0 Sox

    Rauch

Sounds like offensively he could be similar to Olivo, but defensively he's a bit below Olivo, whose one of the top defensive catching prospects in the minors. At least arm wise, he still has work on calling a game, but he's been taking huge steps in that regards.
  3. Thats probably right. I don't know what the Marlins bench looks like, but I'm sure they could carry 3 catchers. Well, Pittsburgh was going to waive Marte and we picked him up. I'm not saying we need to trade someone like Guerrier, but I do think the Sox could definately use a backup and this guy doesn't only sound like a backup, but he sounds like a potential starter. For catchers, there are so many journeyman types that have become very solid: Molina, Damian Miller, Robert Machado (Former Sox), even someone like Paul LoDuca. As long as they can call the game, play good defense, and hit decent they will get a shot. Its why I am happy with Olivo, even if he doesn't turn into a hitting machine, but I'd love to get this guy as well. Having a couple solid catchers is a great thing to have, especially if they have the ability to get better, but you always know they will be able to play defense.

    Rauch

Well getting Beckett is impossible. Burnett would be tough enough. Penny is probably the only one on that staff that you could acquire without giving up Rauch. Not that I wouldn't be willing to do that if they would listen. Getting Beckett would be like the Cubs trading Prior. Now if the Sox wanted someone, maybe near the deadline they could acquire Wood. Some don't think he's going to stick around.
  5. Jon Garland is pitching -Todd Greene flies out on the first pitch -Mark Textiera hits one deep and it bounces off the top of the fence in dead center for a double (It was a 0-2 curve). That was a shot, homer in any major league park. -Mike Lamb (don't know what he did, but he got out) -Christansen gets out 0 runs on 1 hit; Still 2-0 Good Guys Crede will leadoff in the bottom of the 2nd.
  6. Cal State Fullerton, but I live at home. Its like a 15 minute drive or so. Its not much of a dorm school, mainly commuter. Where do you go?
  7. oh ya, Maggs is going to be with the Sox a long time (I HOPE)
  8. Ya, I'll be at the beach, not studying. Heck, during finals week I'll go the beach and study there. Whether gets so nice. Only a 15 minute drive or so.
  9. Dang, sounds pretty nice. Has anyone else seen this guy play? I'm going to dig up some stats on him tomorrow and read what baseball prospectus says of him. He sounds like a good plan and a guy like this could be had for not much, if he's really going to be waived anyway. Offer up someone that isn't going to be a major leaguer for the Sox, maybe even a Wade Parrish or something.
  10. Oh man, could you imagine if the Sox had Green and Maggs as the corner guys, wowzers.
  11. Oh, all mine have them the week before. (This week). Once Mario and I are done though, we should be back to getting much more quick on our updates and such.
  12. Just Thompson is pitching for Texas. Bottom of the 1st -Don't know what Jimenez did, but he got on. -Manos rips one down the first base line for a triple. Jimenez scores making it 1-0 Sox. Runner now on 3rd with no one out. -Thomas (hitting .400 with 3 hr's and 11 RBIS in the spring). He rips one off the fence in right field and Thomas moves into second. Its now 2-0 White Sox. Runner on 2nd with one out. -Ordonez got out somehow. Wasn't paying attention -Konerko hits it to right center but they make the grab. Two outs now. -Carlos Lee (hitting .422 with 2 hr's and he leads the Sox in hits in spring training) hits it to 3rd and Textiera makes a nice play getting him out. The inning ends, but the Sox had 2 hits and the Rangers made an error (Jimenez must of reached on an error) After 1, 2-0 Good Guys!!!
  13. I don't think Mondesi's is as good as it used to be. I like Shawn Green's arm. Not quite as strong, but incredibly accurate. Not sure if he was a relative of Clemente. The guy was a pretty highly touted prospect though.
  14. Ya, I got a huge accounting test. But after that, then its just a couple more days and then spring break
  15. Hey Joel, can you fill me in on Castro? I'd like picking him up as a catcher if he's as good as you say he is. What his specialties? Good defensively, offensively?
  16. Cool. I am working on the first innings right now. Its 2-0 Sox as of now.
  17. I'd agree. I wish everyone the best out there and hopefully this can happen with as few fatalities as possible. Either way I still hope this is for the big picture and i truly believe it is. For the first time in a long time, I don't think this is going to be a short term thing where the US and just ditches when the war is over. Its going to take a long time to finish this whole thing and I continue to believe that the war is the rather easy part, minus the deaths, something you never like to see. I just hope that we don't find out that these people died for nothing, but instead died so Iraq can be free and everyone else in the world could be a little safer, knowing that one of the few countries that could possibly attack with weapons of mass destruction no longer has them.
  18. Well, for the many here that will only believe the BBC, I'd say this means something. I think were going to uncover a lot of stuff, including chemica weapons. Like Apu, I hope we don't just blow the places up, but really get rid of them the right way, by dissambling it or however you do it. I also think many of his stuff is probably burried in certain areas. Hopefully we get it all before they can use it.
  19. Well Method, I will try to do a few updates of this one. Studying for a test too, so it won't be great, but I'll try. By the way it started only like 5 minutes ago.
  20. Yep Mark...We appreciate all the stuff you've done for the Sox the past couple years and look forward to seeing you pitch many more years on the Sox side. Keep it up Mark!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    The roster

Yep, the only way Borchard is up here is if he's the everyday starter and thats very unlikely at this point in time.
  22. Another guy who had an absolute cannon was Edgar Clemente. I'm sure no one knows who he is, but I saw him in one angel game, through a peg from deep in right to home on the line and gunned the guy out at the plate. It was an amazing throw, best one I've ever seen in person. The guy couldn't hit, but he was thought of pretty highly by the Rockies who eventually dumped him and the Angels had him for a short time.
  23. Interesting. Hopefully they find all of the stuff before his troops can use them.
  24. Ichiro has a gun, plain and simple.

    Rauch

Rauch is not a breaking ball pitcher. He relies on the location of his fastball and has decent offspeed stuff to go with it, but his fastball is his key. I am not convinced Rauch will ever be what everyone expects him to be. He was great while in Birmingham, but there was always something in the back of my head that held me back from really jumping on the bandwagon at the time. His success in the Olympics further stifled those doubts. Unfortunately after the past few years, they are beginning to come back. It just semmed like there was something he didn't have that I could never put a finger on. The focus has always been on his height. My guess is that if everything to this point remained the same, but he was 6'2 or 6'3 he would almost be forgotten. Maybe that is going a bit overboard, but it is the feeling I get. All of that said, I think there is still a possiblity for him to be a solid if not great big league pitcher. I am just not 100% sold on him. You know what Rex, I'm really starting to be on your side. I think about all the pitchers that get overhyped, etc, and this guy has to be one of them. Now from what I saw out of him when he was with the Sox in the majors, he had a fantastic curve ball, but this guy is going to have to make use of a couple secondary pitches and have good control of all of them to succeed. It isn't like has an amazing fastball. Maybe it really was a bit better before his surgery, but the movement doesn't really seem to be there and thats what scares me. I don't care how hard a guy throws, you need movement, it makes it so much easier on a pitcher. I hate it when I get hunches like this, especially because last year I was pretty high on him, but I think I may of been seeing what I wanted to think. For that reason, this could be the one guy where if we could get a really good proven pitcher thats still young, where it would be worth dealing him.
