  1. There are going to be a ton of us at the Angels and Dodger games rooting for the Sox.
  2. The Giants play in a sweet park in Tuscon. Your gonna have a blast. Oh ya, get directions to the Oakland park, its kind of weird to get to or at least it was for me the first time I went there. I remember they had all these signs pointing in the wrong direction.
  3. The only talented players he traded away were Kip, Fogg, Myette(Sucked in Texas), and Bradford. Thats about all I can think of. Oh ya, put Guerrier in there, he's got a shot at developing.
  4. Players from that 2000 team that are no longer here... James Baldwin -- Traded after becoming a walking wound Cal Eldred -- Retired after an incredible 2000 (even though his ERA was high, he somehow won) Ray Durham -- Signed by the Giants for more money than the Sox could give him Charles Johnson -- Was pretty much a rental for the Playoff run Mike Sirotka -- Traded just in time ( ) Keith Foulke -- Traded after falling out of favor with Sox management for some reason Chris Singleton -- Don't remember how we "lost" him Jim Parque -- Herbert Perry -- Traded to the Rangers, I think (or maybe TX just signed him, I don't remember) Ken Hill -- LOL, that was funny for a couple of games I'm sure there are more...but I think those are the main ones. So how did Kenny Williams "run this team into the ground"? We've replaced our rotation (most of which is either retired or still not recovered from their injuries) with some great young (and healthy) arms in Dan Wright, Mark Buehrle, Bartolo Colon, and maybe Jon Rauch. We've replaced Singleton/Perry with Rowand/Crede, and we've replaced Ray Ray with D'Angelo, who has tremendous potential (he could score 130 runs quite easily if he can do his job). Our bullpen is better now than it was in 2000 IMO, and our overall team D is probably about the same I'd say. KW takes way too much heat. :fyou They traded Singleton for Willie Harris. By the way, I agree with you on KW taking too much heat. I'll also say he made some mistakes as well, some very big mistakes, but he's done good too.
  5. Thats when I'm gonna be there Michelle...although things are looking shady cause my history professor just pushed his test back to the 7th so I'm going to have to ask him on Monday if I can take it on Wednesday. He says no late tests or makeup exams, but if you take it early do they consider it that? I sure hope not, otherwise I don't think I'm going to be able to make it out there, other then like one day driving out, which would upset me. Man I hope he's cool with it.
  6. He had one back in 2001 I think after his whole asking for a raise thing.
  7. I've not said f*** you to anyone opposed to the war. I won't either. I disagree but everyone here is entitled there own opinion. I don't know what I said in that post that made me come off horrible. I am always willing to help people, and if the time came where we had to defend our country, I'd be the first one up to help. Maybe my thinking would be different if the military was asking for people to join right now or saying they need a draft. I know there were so many rumors regarding a draft being re-instated but I've never heard them say they need more soldiers. Would my thinking be different if I had to fight in the war? To be honest it probably would be and I should think about that. The only reason I feel that way is because I don't know how I'd act during a war when the heats fully on and your life is at risk and you can die any second. My beliefs on this issue is that it should never come down to this. I'm not calling for a full fledge war, but many special operations and a few bombings of the weapons plants. Other then that, I don't think this war is going to take much when it comes to fighting. The big goal is going to be rebuilding the country and that will take a lot of time.
  8. I don't buy into us being ranked 22nd at all. i'll get a bit more in depht on that at a later date, but I'm pretty biased I guess cause I think pretty highly of quite a few of our players and still think we are a top 10 system.
  9. So does that mean when we believe we need to send aid to other countries I have to go there too, simply because I want to help them.
  10. I still don't believe everyone is built for the military or should serve in the military. Here we have the right to chose whether we enlist or not, just like we have the right to chose our job. I admire your son and I respect all those in the military as well as the police, and fire departments, but that doesn't mean I have to do it. Thank goodness there are a lot of people out there that do want to do it. We all need doctors too, but thats not what I'm going to be either. The thing is, here in America we aren't forced to enlist in the military like they are in Korea. Man, I think it would suck if everyone had to enlist. Well first off our military would be huge. Secondly, If we think military spending is high now, well then guess what it will be when they are having to pay salaries or college fees to even more people. Lastly, just because i"m not in the military doesn't mean I can't have a belief. If I believe we should help another nation, doesn't mean I personally have to back it up. I'll do my part, but I'd like to think I could do it in other ways, such as morally supporting the troops or doing my best to support the economy and this country or plenty of other things. On a last part, the Revolutionary war was completely different. It was on OUR soil, this is somewhere else. Your damn right if it was on our soil I'd be backing it up or if it was for our freedom. This war is for other peoples freedom. I may not be over in the Gulf with people like your son or Nuke and God Bless them and all the other troops over there, but it doesn't mean I can't say I'm for the war. Thats for damn sure. Saddam is a tyran thats killed his own people. Why would he hesitate doing the same on the US or other countries. Just cause France doesn't find it a big worry isn't my problem and I don't think its the US's problem. Plenty of countries are supporting us in this issue. Saddam needs to be stopped. He's been given numerous chances to disarm and comply with inspections and he's never done so. Why the hell would he change now. Do we have to wait until he kills more? First off, chisoxfn, I respect you. Just to get that straight. But with a war in Iraq, its almost a 99% chance that you wont be killed. For the young soldiers serving in Kuwait, its possible they could be killed. They are in harms way. I dont agree with cw in that all supporters of the war should enlist but I think youre also wrong to say that by supporting the troops morally you are in harms way. I have nothing against you, so dont think that. Just wanted to point this out... Oh sorry if I meant that. I was simply implying that there are other ways to support the country then fighting in the war. I respect everyone over their. I do agree with you in regards to the war over there as well. More will likely die of friendly fire then anything else. Hopefully all casualties will be a minimal. I know the US has been contacting Saddams generals via private email and they are doing all they can to prevent lots of battles. I think when the US goes in, the war will be very short, but if they do this right, the rebuilding effect will take a very long time. When the British won the French and Indian War they had the dillema of having to govern all that new land. This time around it will be a lot different, but the US is going to have to support this area for a while until people establish themselves and get it back together. This could take 10 years or more, it all depends.
  11. But without knowing that the French were to support us, moral would of been a lot different and you don't really know how the leaders would take it. I'm not positive on when the French became Allies during the war. If I recall it was Jefferson or Ben Franklin that negotiated them becoming allies, but I may be wrong. Still, I'm with Cerb, they had a navy and that alone could pretty much whipe out all of the seaports if they wanted to.
  12. I can act on my beliefs in different ways. By voting candidates in office, making statements in other ways. This war isn't a World War, it isn't a war on our soil and I'm not going to fight in it. I'll admit, I'm not in the military, but I agree with Kark. I'm glad those people did join the services its why they joined. They are there to defend this country and our country would stink without people like them. It would also suck without doctors and other people that make society go around. Korea isn't looking all that great and all of them have to joing the military. Everyone in society has some role or another. Some are defending this country and I respect them a hell of a lot. Some are defending this country as fireman or police officers while others are doing it as attorneys or doctors or politicians trying to make this country better, even though some may disagree with some of those professions I just listed. Iraq didn't attack America, AlQaeda did.

  14. You fail to realize that without France, the United States wouldn't even be a country. Instead of going on uninformed tirades on how about France owes us, maybe all you hawks should look at history and realize that WE OWE FRANCE. We would have won the revolutionary war on our own. The French just made it faster. Now, in 1956 France was about to collapse and we saved em. They came back and spit right in our face. Screw the French. Sorry OldRoman, but I disagree with you on this aspect. Without France's help the English would of ended the threat very quickly. I still continue to say the English rule on us was not as bad as so many history books make you believe. All those acts, it was the first taxes the colonials had to pay to the English. Prior to that they were basically living for free.
  15. I just saw the club on fire and man was it burning quick. Terrible tragedy.

No, I was just looking on the net and found the photo so I put it up. I'm a big Borchard fan. The guys going to be great, I'm definately with you on that. He's my new favorite position prospect in the majors now that Crede has finally joined the big club.
  17. Listen, season-ending trades suck sometimes and fans do suffer, but, common, if you think Danny Darwin-led team was going to catch the Indians powerhouse (that eventually was 2 outs away from winning the friggin' championshiop!) that year, I have a nice bridge...Hawk is a FRANCHISE announcer, but so what? He is a funny and insighful commentator (I don't think anyone who praised Steve Stone can contest that; he may not have the academic vocabulary down, but this aint academia-land), so what else do you want? For him to take JR to task? Even our GM's can't do that, FCOL. the indian powerhouse that year that came within 2 outs of the world series won 86 games..they only had two pitcher win more than 10 games and out of their starting 5 eras's ranged from 4.28 to 5.65....that was no powerhouse... had we traded at that deadline for help instead of dumping..we could have easily caught the indians...plus..its a PR disaster to give up only 3 games out of 1st....after the sox, no team in baseball will ever do that a..no matter how hopeless they feel the situation is...hell, teams 8 -10 games back are trading to improve..and look at st louis in '01...8 games back..trade for woody williams (who they still have) and he catches fire and leads them to the playoffs...you never know if we would have traded for someone to help that team if he would have been our woody williams... plus the indians winning only 86 games but going to the series only emphasizes how weak the AL was that year and how good are chances were if we just got in it... plus,plus...who do have left from the white flag trade 6 years later..all those prospects??..no one..and what did we accomplish with them when we had them??..one division title and a 3 and out in the playoffs worst move for the sox since the players in '19 threw the series... Baggs, I remember the day we made that trade. I had tickets to the Angels Sox game that day. I was almost in tears - tears of anger. I went with my dad and two friends. I couldn't believe what had happened. On that day I swore that I would never support the White Sox again. That was the only game I have ever rooted against the Sox. The next day I calmed down a bit, but I never understood why they made that trade. They freaking gave up. I was only 11 or 12 at the time so I didn't really understand the idea of prospects but I knew what they were. I remember the tv analysts saying the Sox got absolutely nothing and that it was a shocker. I was so freaking pissed off at that deal. I ended up sitting behind Robin Ventura's dad and talking to him, pretty cool guy. I think Robin had just came back like the week before after that horrible injury. The only day in my life I wasn't a Sox fan. I hated JR for that, but since then I've learned a lot more. Looking back, we didn't give up that much and got some really good arms, but at that time I was growing into becoming a diehard fan, although I've basically been diehard since I was 6, reading the sports page everyday and watching the games when I saw them on tv.
  18. My thoughts exactly(UNLESS it is a player like Lofton that we are trading and we would be getting two pretty good arms in return). It wouldn't hurt getting a good defensive catcher that is coming out of college....give him 2-3 years, and he would be able to be up. Also in that round we could be getting a very, very good player with raw talent. And every once in a while, you'll get lucky and get a 38th round draft pick and he turns out to be your ace. Damn! Why weren't you guys here when that trade was made? Everyone ripped on me saying that we'd have gotten nothing for Ray if we didn't trade him. I was saying we'd be better off with the pick instead of a 6.+ ERA pitcher in Adkins. i was here right with ya ripping on that trade..for about 2 days..then i got so pissed off at the sox i quit watching the rest of the season...just couldnt take KW's incompetence anymore I do remember that. I also remember Baggs and I being the most vocal when it came to the Ritchie deal.
  19. I don't buy into his talk for pitching for a contender. If he wanted to do that he would of signed the deal KW had on the table. I think he may eventually come back, but the question is will he be willing to admit that he was wrong on what he thought his market value was. Plus Texas has an offer out there for good money once May roles around, but who knows.
  20. I got screwed this past year trying to pick up tickets to the World Series. The server goofed, order too many tickets for me and when I tried to lower the number the server crashed and I wasn't able to get any. At least you got them to one game.
  21. Ritchie will be one of there better pitchers. He won't be near as bad as last season, plus he won't be playing for anything.
  22. Wow, I haven't heard that rumor, but it would shock me. By the way, welcome aboard
  23. Well I remember quite a few players mentioning last season how much better the clubhouse got after the trade deadline. I'm sure some of that had to do with Royce leaving, but it also had to do with the new players coming up bringing an upbeat attitude.
  24. So was it Stairway to Heaven or Over the Hills or something?
