  1. I'm with you witesoxfan. They got to get this park looking like the ones in the photos by 2005. Still, i'll wait till I see the paint before I comment. Maybe they are trying to build another green monster. If so, they are idiots cause that stadium is and always will be crap in my mind (Referring to fenway)
  2. The MLB.com rosters aren't official. They have Edwin Yan and Guillermo Reyes playing in AAA which isn't going to happen. No rosters have been announced yet, at least not publicly. I also don't think Durham will make it up unless he really turns it on or can find his way in as a utility player.
  3. That stuff is terrible for you. I have two friends that take that crap and I've finally got them off it. I don't even understand why people take it. There weren't really overweight or anything to begin with. I know its a big weight loss thing, but come on, your just going to put it back on when you stop. The only ways to permantly lose weight imo, is an improved diet and exercise. You really can't short cut it, unless you go with lipo which is really dangerous, but even after that you got to exercise and eat right so you keep it off.
  4. The silver and black with that fro look real tight.
  5. I figured they would consider sticking Maggs or Konerko in the 3 hole with Thomas in the 5 slot.

I think last year is a lot different then this year. last season they rushed him back from an injury and he didn't have any experience in AAA. This year he's had a full season back, pitched in AAA as well as the majors and had quite a bit of sucess during his second stint with the big club. I do agree though, if he doesn't earn the job outright, then give him a month or so in AAA.
  7. Don't worry about it; Were glad to have you here.
  8. Wow, I forgot all about him. I don't remember much about him anymore though. I don't think he's playing anywhere in the majors or minors, but he could be playing in a different professional league.
  9. Oh trust me, this guy will be good. Add some muscle and such and oh ya. The guy has great plate discipline and I gave him some more kind words in my AA Preview which will be up tomorrow.
  10. No. They haven't shortened them. I know i've mentioned shorter fences but I was refrencing it back to last year.
  11. Baggs, from what I heard those reports on Rios were false. He never got into a fight and that he's supposed to be a good guy in the clubhouse. Still, I guess you never know.
  12. CW thats an amazing story. I've never met ya but I can tell your one of those people thats always nice to everyone and just flat out works hard. This story is just another testament to that. You did what many people wouldn't of done. You were in a wheel chair in great pain and worked yourself all the way back to the point that your friends, Baggs, can't even tell this type of injury once happened.
  13. Well, this is how I look at it. I think the two of them both have tremendous stuff. To me though, what happens if Koch develops better control, something he has slowly been doing since coming up to the majors a few years ago. Then those 44 walks drop down to 34, then maybe 24. Then lets say Marte gets much better control, how much better can his control really get? I guess I'm looking it as Marte already has a lot of those really refineably areas refined while Koch has been doing darn good despite the fact that he still has a lot of his game left to refine. Marte still has stuff to do as well and he's got filthy stuff. I can't complain about either of them.
  14. Your probably right on the money with that belief. I don't have any stats to back me up on this other then I remember him doing quite well last season and he got better every day away from surgery as he got healthier and was building his velocity and such back up. You are right though, he was almost never out there in key situations, but his numbers were still more then solid for a reliever, especially one coming back from surgery.
  15. im looking at your bench: i agree thats probably the bench players that go north....but with rios and daubach we have two identical players...wouldnt it be better to keep josh paul , mr versitility??...he can catch , spell , crede at 3rd and play the corner outfield spots...of course it does give jerry the tinkerer move tinkering ability wonder how tradable mr rios is??? Rios could very well be dealt. I see him getting dealt if and only if Nunez plays good during spring training. Still, Rios hit pretty good last season and even better as the season went on. I like Armando quite a bit. He's got good pop and can hit for a solid average and he's proven he can come off the bench. I'll keep both of them. I think Rios can play a bit of center, although it may not be pretty.
  16. This is terrible news. Man, a true tragedy. This guy seemed like a good kid and well no one should have to die at such a young age. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.
  17. I don't have the numbers on me, but isn't Koch younger then Marte or right around the same age? All I know is they both have tremendous stuff. The thing with me is I still see a lot of room for improvement with Koch. I also remember reading if you take two teams runs out against Koch, I think it as the Rangers and Blue Jays and he had an era under one or something like that.
  18. From Chicagosports.com Anyway, he says Maggs will be hitting behind him which implies that Thomas will be back to his old slot, the 3 hole with Konerko hitting fifth.
  19. 2003 Spring Preview By Mario Scalise and Ross Meister Febuary 17, 2003
  20. I remember reading about his signing, and then not hearing another word about him the rest of the season. This organization can tend to be a black hole for catchers, so him just disappearing wouldn't surprise me too much I think every organization is a blackhole when it comes to catchers. Its just such a hard position. Mainly because its so physically demanding and they typically don't get as much credit or love as the big home run hitters and everyone else. Usually the best athletes get moved around too, and never find the catcher position because it will hurt them in the long run. Also the fact that they have so much to work on makes it hard. Calling a game, blocking the plate, release point (Throwing guys out) and then the swing. Its a really tough job.
  21. I think he's still in the lower levels, but I don't think he's ever going to amount to much other then a roster slot. Burke is the one catcher still in our system that I am interested in seeing. Olivo is not in our system anymore right now and I hope we don't see him there again, because it will mean he's suceeding at the major league level
  22. Hudler and I see eye to eye on the Miles situation. If he proves himself in AAA this year, then I'll buy into him, until then I don't see him coming anywhere close to a major league roster. This is going to be his first time in AAA and I think he's 26 years old now (Thats off the top of my head).
  23. He does his job, but I also see upside in having another lefty that can really throw innings or a righty in Almonte. I don't think Almonte can make the team out of spring unless one of the righties gets injured or if the Sox decide to carry an extra reliever. With Marte as the set up man with Flash, the Sox will need a second lefty whether its Munoz, Sanders or Wunsch. As long as Wunsch doesn't suck, I think he'll keep the job, but it will be interesting if Sanders and Munoz put up stats similar to winterball, cause if thats the case one of them will be getting a job, imo.
