  1. Well, I think he may be taking a cheap shot at Manuel. I know one thing and this is an article that pushes my belief that Manuel is an asshole that needs to shutup. He goes out and tells people this is what they have to do to get there job back and when they do it, he just ignores them. I remember he kept saying Foulke was the closer, then he never even would come into close another game. It was really ridiculous. You need to have your players knowing there roles. If he's not going to close, tell him that, don't give him some bulls*** story that he's the closer, if he's never going to be out there. Either way, I'm glad we have Koch, cause his role is in the closer slot and I feared with Foulke, Manuel would of still dicked him around the pen. It really pisses me off when a manager believes he can tell his players whatever he wants. You got to be honest with them, if you lie, then they won't trust you. Oh ya, I don't see how that talks about Thomas. For all we know it refers to Konerko speaking out or the so called spies in the locker room.
  2. You start the season with Rauch is AAA. I'm assuming we'll have some AA headers where we can bring him up, but I'm also assuming we'll have some injuries whether it is to a reliever or a starter. Plus, you never know what Rogers does. He may eventually go into the bullpen as another lefty, with Rauch coming into the rotation.
  3. I tell you what. The more I think about the Sox the more I like this team. Usually it works the other way for me, but I really love this team. Oh ya, I think Gardenhire is afraid, but this is a great motivational tactic for him. I know one thing, this is a heck of a rivalry. I actually think its better then the Indians Sox rivalry when the Sox and Indians would go back and forth, with the Tribe thumping us almost every year. This time, I think the Sox will be the ones doing the thumping to every team in the majors. They are going to go the distance and get that ring.
  4. I agree with the foot injury, but I also do believe that some of it was because you change your swing for the home run derby. Still, this one took place in the offseason not mid season so I'm assumimg Magglio should have his swing ready to roll for the regular season and he'll have the hole home run champ thing out of his mind.
  5. Ya, you shouldn't have to register. Just hit tune in at chisport.com and then play.
  6. curious...if saying "raghead " makes one a racist would it be safe to assume john mccain is a racist too??...or jesse jackson??...or shaq???...charles barkley???oh wait..barkely is a "conservative" republican that automatically makes him a racist... where does robert byrd fall into this..is he a racist???..you know "the moral compass" of the democratic party as quoted by one bill clinton... Please don't even mention Jesse Jackson. I'm so sick of so much crap I always hear on the radio. The latest issue is how the Lions are going to get fined because they didn't interview candidates for the position and simply hired Mariucci. First off, the Lions went after and wanted to interview several minority coaches, but the black coaches association (i think thats the name) told them not to go. How can you blame the Lions for that. Oh ya, let me say anyone who didn't go was an idiot, because they seem to forget the experience they would get from going to an interview and being thought of as a head coaching candidate. Also, owners all discuss things, and often they will say, hey, this guy gave an awesome interview and we would of hired him had we not intended to bring in Steve Mariucci. Secondly, the guy UCLA hired as their head coach was never expected to be hired as their head coach (They were going to hire the guy from Washington State), but instead he had such an impressive interview that they hired him. Whether your a minority coach or an white coach assistant it wouldn't matter, if someone is offering you an interview as a head coach and you want to be one, then you better go out and interview. Also, the NFL needs to mind there own damn business. It was obvious that they fired Morninweg soley to hire Mariucci, so why can't they just simply hire the man they want.
  7. I think his next step will be the Kenny Rogers signing.
  8. Kip Wells. Mark my words Fogg will never be more then an average pitcher on a bad team. His numbers will be much worse this year and I actually think at best he'll be a #5 pitcher, more likely a middle reliever. Kip has a lot more talent and I think he'll do pretty good. I don't see either making the hall of fame and I doubt either make an all star game.
  9. I think they made him the offer. I know it was rumored they were going to talk to him this weekend and he was going to make his decision this week. Hopefully he wants to come to the Sox. I'd think Boston would be willing to offer more then the Sox. I don't know where Rogers is from, but to be honest, I wonder why he'd pick this Sox team over Boston. Maybe he realizes they got to get by the Yankees and we have a bad division where even if the Sox don't get past the Twins, they would still have an excellent shot at the wild card because of all the poor teams they play. I know I want to see him signed.
  10. They may piss you and me off, but the fact of the matter is most HOF players aren't all sunshine-n-smiles. Most people aren't, period. Nodoby likes Albert Belle and Barry Bonds, but you can't ignore their on-filed contributions. If you don't want to get Griffey because he is lazy, declining, injury-prone or combination of all 3, that's fine. "Selfish and arrogant" arguement doesn't and shouldn't hold up as far as winning (care to remember when the Sox last won the series, Mac?) is concerned. Maybe that's just me. I despise Tiger "I am a cheap, arrogant, apathetic and racist prick and proud of it" Woods, but his talent is undeniable. I know one thing, there is no offensive player that I've ever seen thats better then Barry Bonds. That guy is a machine. He has a beautiful swing, a great eye, and in his prime he was a gold glover outfielder. He also is a very good baserunner. He's truly an amazing specimen.
  11. Remember guys. Political viewpoints differ a whole lot and everyone will have there own opinion regarding the issues whether they voice it or not. Just try not to take things to far. Politics is a really difficult thing to talk with. Typically I disagree with Apu, but he definately is well educated in the areas and is entitled to his opinion just like everyone else is. Of course, lets keep all political talk off the main boards; This is for Sox talk, where we may agree on minor issues, but we all agree that the SOX KICK ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Frank struggled last year because he wasn't reading the pitches. He didn't know whether it was a fastball or a curve or a ball or a strike and when that happens, your never going to have sucess. Late in the season he started figuring things out, which is expected. When you sit out for a full season, your definately going to have trouble getting back up to game speed and it took him a long time to start seeing the ball correctly. Until he was seeing the ball, he was basically guessing and always fiddling with a swing, which stops you from being able to get comfortable. Once he started seeing the ball, he was able to work on one swing and with that came consistency, something we saw at the very end of the season. Only the first month or so do I really think the injury effected him. I think his bat speed was fine very early on, it was the things that take a long time to come back, such as game speed, your eye, etc.
  13. there is some sort of operating agreement between the leagues; the dude is under a contract that MLB is bound to respect. And as Jason says, future working relationships depend on abiding on the terms of the agreement. The dips*** is this Millar. Signs a contract and then wants to say never mind. It reminds me of that great governor in California, named Gray Davis. He signed a contract for electricity deals. He got ripped off on the contract and once the energy crisis was over he had his people rip up the contract, even though it was a 25 year deal, just because he's the freakin governor. If you sign something, then you damn well better represent it or pay the money to get yourself out of it.
  14. Ya, that was an awesome read. I really like Cooper and I truly believe we have one of the best pitching coaches in the entire major leagues. Thank goodness the Sox finally gave Nardi the boot. I expect Cooper to do an excellent job developing our young pitchers and helping Colon and the vets as well. I wonder what would of happen to Kip had Cooper been the pitching coach then.
  15. that happens to me a lot also...for almost up to a week sometimes the site will just not load I'm going to have to contact the server company about this and try to fix that problem. I never knew of it before, but hopefully they know what to do and can fix it. What kind of an error message do you get Kark?
  16. This is sweet. I read somewhere a while ago that we pretty much had Ortiz until the Braves made that offer. Then we made a fair deal to Daal. Man, this would be a sweet signing. I'd really be happy. You can never have too many pitchers, especially when you got 5 guys that can throw innings.
  17. Really? So if Delgado only cost 8 mill as opposed to 18 you wouldn't do the trade? Common, it's not like we are talking about Tony Clark or Fred McGriff here, whitesox247. Paul's potential and leadership are nice to have and all that (although the latter os overrated; whining is NOT equal to chemistry), but Delgado's best year is amazing 300 OPS points higher than Paul's. With shorter fences at the Cell and the general lift in spirits that often accompanies change in scenery (for one, don't tell me Latino comminuty in Torono is anything like it is in Chicago), Delgado is a near-automatic MVP. ETA: Just for future reference, am I the only person who uses OPS and RBI/ab to gauge a hitter's productivity as opposed to average and homers? Typically, I go off my opinion. I am confident in my knowledge. To me though, I think the best way to do it is to look at many different stats as well as see how they play. There are many different ways to judge it. I do think Avg, Rbi's are important. Now sometimes, those numbers can be lucky though.
  18. I can't wait. March 15th or so and I'll be watching the Sox. Damn it I need a time machine.
  19. Damn this is really intriguing. If Griffey could get back into his form and stay healthy, this would be an unbelievable deal. Adam Dunn is a freaking pimp of an outfield. Borchard is too and then you have Griffey, one of the best centerfielders of all time. It would be really tough to deal Magglio though. Still, this is something that I'd definately think about. Financial wise it makes sense and Dunn and Borchard would both be awesome defensively at their respective positions. Geeze. If there was a way to give up Thomas and not Magglio, then it would be really sweet, but that ain't going to happen. Either way, this deal would really intrigue me. Financially it makes sense and we get two awesome players in return......IF GRIFFEY IS HEALTHY.
  20. I wish I could of seen him play.
  21. Thats what Maggs reminds me of. He's a lot like Edgar with that live bat. He can hit the ball to all parts of the field. Magglio may be the best offensive player in the majors in a year or two.
  22. Still, he did sign a contract and I think MLB doesn't want to ruin its relationship with the japanese teams.
  23. Its alright, Dallas is America's team too and look where they are. All I care about is the Sox being World Champs.

That one works. Its the older version. I have the other one set up, just need to customize it and then I'll let everyone decide which one they would rather use.
  25. Things have been quiet. The longer he stays out there, the better the shot or thats what I'd assume.
