It’s the only magazine I subscribe to - sports illustrated for kids for my kids. Was a Groupon or something - my kids looked forward to it every month. I’ll now probably get billed for another 50 years lol.

It also just hit me Kingsbuy worked with Mahomes at Texas Tech and I recall Mahomes had pretty favorable comments about Kliff. -

I am kind of excited by the OC process so far. Really Olsen and Roman (if you draft a new qb) are the only two candidates I don’t want as OC. But I am good with Olsen / Roman as qb coach and run game coordinator. I ripped Kingsbury as HC forever but the concept and idea of him as an OC is really growing on me. And if nothing else / they should get some good intel on Caleb, but more importantly he has done a lot of innovative things on offense, has tons of experience calling plays, has had at least some success creating successful nfl offenses (yes he also was HC for some epic Eagle like end of season collapses). He also just spent a year with an offensive guru in Lincoln Riley. -
This is awesome - maybe jr wants the deal set and than will sell with the principles in place and let the new owner take it from there?

I just assume we'll get one 2nd rounder back when we trade Field(s) - but hopefully I'm not too optimistic there. -

I think one thing we have learned - you have to be careful too around having too many people in the room as well. You don't want 3 different voices in a QB's ear - you really want to make sure you have 1 really good OC who is comfortable and smart and than he needs to have a really strong relationship with the QB coach (both the OC and QB need strong relationships with that person). Cause if they don't - than mixed messaging will happen or too much over think will happen. Such a delicate balance. -

Or his 4th year was seriously impacted by him playing very hurt. Not sure what to make of his time in Carolina - it was short lived and obviously not good. But Baker's 1st and 3rd years were pretty good. He's an interesting example of a #1 overall pick who didn't get a ton of runway. Just look up his stats vs. Trevor Lawrence's first 3 years. Just looked - i forgot how good Lawrence was last year - he really regressed with turnovers in year 3 (2nd year in same system). -

On your other point - If someone had a crystal ball and told me we could for sure get Higgins, even if it was an overpay, I would say do that, than target best defensive player or tackle in the draft (if going defensive - I'd say a slight trade back would even be acceptable). I think Bears can afford to pay Higgins, Moore, Sweat, Johnson, and Kmet given fact that they would have a lot of other players on rookie deals - including the QB (I'm just assuming the 1st pick Bears make is QB at this point). You would have a QB and your OT's on rookie deals and Higgins/Moore is a pretty good combo. I would still add yet another WR later in the draft though (given how deep of a WR draft this is). -

I think the worse case scenario is 2 QB's go in top 8 and no defensive players go. If that is the case - than I think this is what is there at 9. Gone: QB: 2 (Williams / May) WR: 3 (MHJ / Nabers / Rome) OTs: 2 (Alt / Fashanu) TBD: Who else goes if it is no defensive? I don't know at this point. I would be kind of hard shocked that a 3rd QB doesn't go - you would suspect Atlanta would take one at 8. Bears Options: Take best defensive player on the board or trade down? What I think happens: Gone: 3 QB's Gone: 2 WR's Gone: 1 Defensive Player Gone: 1 Tackle This would leave the Bears with the potential choice of two of this group: Brockers, One of the LT's, One of the Top 3 Wideouts or the next best defensive player. My big assumption here is one of the defensive players goes. It could very well be no defensive players goes - which means if Bears are looking offense they would only have their shot at one of the group of Brockers, a top 3 wideout, or one of the Top 2 OT's. -

They are going to fire their coach too. Maybe Poles was smart cause If Eagles and Cowboys open up that is a massive number of openings. -

Is this a - what would you do with Justin interview? If they hire Roman to me that means they are rolling with Justin for a year. I wouldn’t love Roman with any of the other qbs. -

Exactly - the only thing out there was a gq article and I didn’t hear anything bad. It does seem like business wise his dad is shrewd and being cautious how he is branded etc. I also think any Bear ban was crazy premature. I don’t think Williams or his family have gotten to know Poles, Warren, Flus and Mccaskeys….so I would think Williams would at least meet them before making crazy demands. Manning situation was slightly different since Archie for whatever reason had an issue with ownership and already knew Chargers ownership from his time around the league. I don’t know what it was that drove the Manning beef. -

I will say if Bears move down - they need to get one of the stud qbs or Marvin. I don’t like a scenario where they move so far down they don’t get one of them. That doesn’t mean they can’t move down and trade back up though. -

NFL also put rules in place around ownership stakes so that isn’t an option for a demand. -

If Caleb’s dad was as bad as described something would have come out from legit USC sources. His dad pushed him and has pushed him and clearly is involved but so far he isn’t Lavar. That isn’t to say he can’t be - but he wasn’t a pain around USC and if he was it was swept under the rug. -

Maybe Green Bay is better than we think and that loss wasn’t crazy. What if a team with a qb decides they want to dangle their qb and picks to draft a new one? -

At this point I would be stunned if the don’t take a qb at 1. Whether they get the right one or not I don’t know. -
Absolutely pathetic - sickens me fans would do that.

I am presuming QB goes 1-2-3, so if you have a list and you grade 3 similarly, the furthest you can drop is 3 spots. You also have Falcons at 8, who I presume are taking a QB if one of those 3 was there (so Bears would have to move up). I guess the question is - if you move back 1-2 spots, do you have enough draft capital to than move back up and get a wideout, whether Harrison or others (without mortgaging the farm). So moving back assures you get Top 2 QB & Top 2 wideout. I have to imagine Chargers & Cardinals, currently sitting at 4/5 are taking a wideout. Giants sitting at 6 are interesting - I could see them going oline (although they also have a clear need at wideout - so could see Harrison, Washington Receiver & Naybors (LSU) all being off the board by 6. Reality is - for Bears to get one of the top wideouts at 9 (and I think there are 3 legit Top 10 wideouts in this draft) - they need 3 QB's to go off the board before them (a 4th going would be even better - but I don't see 4 going in Top 10 - unless Atlanta falls in love with JJ McCarthy or Penix). They need the 2 LT's to be drafted, 2 WR's I see for sure being gone, and you need at least one defensive player selected (Verse or Dallas Turner or a surprise). I think worse case scenario for the Bears is - you take your QB at the top, all 3 WR's are of the board, & both LT's are off the board - leaving you looking at taking the best edge player at 9. I say that in the sense that this doesn't seem like a year where you have a no brainer edge player, not that the Bears don't have a need at this spot. But if this works out - this could be where the Bears actually slide back down a few slides - move into the mid teens. But my early Mock Draft is - Bears aren't cute: Draft Caleb @ 1 Draft Odunze @ 9 -

Jayden Daniels is growing on me if they opted down 1-2 spots and punted on Williams. He has a TON of experience and clearly has improved as a passer each season. He has size and is clearly an athlete. Development wise he is on the older side (23) - but you can see clear progression from his time at ASU to LSU and as a passer his accuracy, etc improved. I think of it the opposite of Fields - he really showed minimal improvements in college - got to the NFL - and he has basically been the same guy in the NFL as well. Daniels is different - presuming the physical tools are there - you see a much more upward trajectory in college, including playing in the SEC at a high level (not sure what to think of Kelly's scheme and how that translates to the NFL though). Drake Maye - does he end up being like Herbert. Physically dude has all the tools - at college it's been a mixed bag, but when you surround him with more NFL caliber talent - do you see him make like an immediate next step as a pro. It really is a strong crop of prospects. -

Did I read those stats accordingly. Starting on Right Side: Basically - both our QB and Oline are pretty-bad. So Non-QB pressure we rate poorly, but he is also really poor and creates his own "pressure". Basically 7th worse in the league (is where Fields is) where as the oline is 9th worse. yet the % that is OL responsibility is very favorable (how does that add up with being really bad at Non QB pressures). The bright side is our LG (Jenkins) and RT (Wright) are good...the LT and RG are mediocre and center is bad (passes my eye test). The % other responsibility is pretty massive - does that mean our RB's are terrible blockers or is that like not being set-up appropriately? Looking at the Left: Fields is good at maximizing time on the scramble - the next question is how effective is he actually making plays on the scramble (relative to expectation). Clearly in side the pocket he is bad and this also highlights he does not throw into tight coverage. On one hand - that should be good - fewer picks, downfall is, to win in this league you got to throw guys open and have conviction making tight window throws. Fields clearly doesn't have it. And from an expected completion percentage - he flat out executes poorly. Ranking 45th of QB's which is clearly AWFUL. -
