Thats what I'm saying. Not only do we have two aces, but we have a deep rotation. People can doubt Jon and Danny, but they throw innings, which takes stress of the bullpen and over the long haul, with this offense if our pitchers are keeping us in the games we will be real good. Last season we were able to go .500 despite the fact we had Ritchie and Glover who couldn't get past the 5th inning.

Michelle. I know you don't buy KW did this, but Cashman himself is quoted as saying that Williams came to him with the proposed 3 way deal.
-
but buehrle has said he wants to go elsewhere..to st louis kw needs to mend this fence and get buehrle signed long term Well, if they don't want to discuss a deal for the time being, I don't see a flaw in that. If you keep trying to milk it (The Sox) then you could really harm things. Sometimes its best to break things off and go year by year, then talk to him in another year and see if his thoughts are different. If you keep trying to jam something down his throat, you could really tick him off. I also know that plenty of players have said they want to play here or there, it doesn't mean its going to happen. Has he ever said he's not happy in a Sox uni? I haven't heard it, he also said that(Whole St Louis Thing) just once.

I think we just took him off the 40, but I can't verify thats all we did. I'm thinking he'll be in AAA next year. I do know he's pitching in the Winter League.

jim i disagree....our bullpen is weak...with osuna gone almost every arm in the had a plus 4 era last year..and i wasnt even a big fan of osuna but we did need him and need to replace him...... with colon this might be a one year shot...we need to win now or what was the purpose of trading for him?? another name i saw on the free agent list..graeme lloyd...solid lefty Marte's era was excellent. Glover's era as a reliever is excellent. Koch's era is good. Then you have Flash whose era was in the low 3's. You also have Wunsch who I think found himself into the high 3's late in the season, but he did excell down the stretch as he got healthier. Thats more then many teams out there. Someone can check my stats, cause I'm going off the top of my head, but thats what I call a heck of a bullpen. Oh ya..we also have Munoz, Sanders, Stewart, and Almonte all ready.
-
Mac...I love that idea. I was thinking of that today when I was driving home from work. Ligthenberg is an older veteran, something I'd like to see the Sox have in the bullpen cause vets can really help our pitchers and bring leadership. Flash's deal will go final on Monday or thats what they are assuming, contingent on his physical.

This is good. Buerhle just wants to play ball. I think everyone looks into many of his quotes too much. You guys really think Buerhle is the only pitcher out there or player arbitration eligible that has turned down multi year deals? Some guys just want to do things different. Wood has turned down multi year deals and he hasn't said he wants to go elsewhere. Lets just enjoy however long he's with us. He's a great pitcher and I love watching him throw. I just want the season to start cause its going to be a fun time.

Mario and I are about the only ones who will still support that Clayton deal. In retrospect it was a terrible move, and KW admitted it. Royce's temper meshed, but HE wasn't why the Sox sucked the last two years. People can use him as the scapegoat, but there were more serious reasons for why the Sox lost.
-
again...kw will earn my credit when he improves on the team he inherited...he was handed a gold mine...95 wins , young team with 30 million dollar payroll and BA's number one rated farm system...in two years he doubled the payroll and turned it into a .500 ballclub...now we are suppose to forgive everything because on his 18th deal as a sox GM he finally got one right??? lets wait see what happens...if he adds another starting pitcher..or seriously upgrades an everyday position with getting a guy like IROD...then inks colon to a long term deal (and buehrle too)..then , if the team wins the division and advances in the playoffs more than one season he'll get my respect...but not until... Baggs...you really think that KW wouldn't do something like that if JR told him he could. The fact is he is seriously tied down. Today he made the rotation 100 times better, kept the bullpen as good, if not better, and improved the bench with the pickup of Rios. That said, it seems like they still have at least one other signing out there. I do think they are done trading. Then again, Vazquez is still out there, how bout we offer them Ginter and Jason Dellaero for Vazquez and then sign Cruz Jr. Hey, after today, I realize anything is possible.

I love the fro...Royce had a fro, but he never played with it during the season and well lets face it..Colon is an ALL Star. You won't ever here those words mentioned around Royce Clayton, unless they are coming out of his mouth. Oh ya Royce...maybe the Sox will be meeting up with ya and the Brewers in the Series

I think going far into the playoffs could change Mark's feelings and I think thats going to happen this year. I've had a special feeling all offseason and I think this is going to be a real special year on the Southside.

That was an awesome game Cali. I was there, sitting up in the club. Got free tickets (I love free) and remember that was one of the rare times I actually get to see the Sox win. Usually when I go they suck..of course they do lose like every game on the west. I can't wait till they make it out to LA and Anaheim. Buerhle started that game if I recalled and pitched awesome. Rowand also had a monster game, my friend, she was going nuts..she loves Rowand. Either way I'm hoping we get to see wins on the west coast this year, and from the Sox in general.
-
I agree with you on Harris, but I really don't see the point in rushing Borchard. I do agree with getting his feet wet, but until July comes around I can't say what is best. If Rowand is struggling, then he shoudl be up for a spark, but if the Sox are in the thick of things you could even see them acquire someone for the stretch. Its really hard to say. I love Borchard a lot, but he has a ton of work to do. With that stead, I don't doubt he could come up to the majors right now and hit .240 or so with a ton of power, but to me that wouldn't be best for him cause he should hit near .300 with a ton of power, walks, strikeouts, and gold glove defense.

whoooaaaa...slow down there partner....we dont even know who the 5th starter is yet..and garland and wright were both disappointments imo last year eventhough they did win 12 and 14 games...they still have alot of room for growth...5 potential aces???....would be nice but cmon now I'm dead serious with that statement. The other three will take some time, but they will all grow up big time. Rauch has a long way to go, but I really think he's going to come in and win the Rookie of the Year..as a matter of fact I don't doubt it whatsoever. I'm very confident he's the type of kid that will come in, and pitch, and yes he will struggle, but he's going to be a real good #5 and even better as he evolves. As far as Wright and Garland go, they are better then most teams in the majors 3 and 4 and both should only get better. They both pitch innings, as do Buerhle and Garland which really makes it easier on the bullpen.

Sweet Bonnie..its good to here your sticking with the Sox. You and Lee are awesome fans and I do wish the Rockmeister the best of luck!

Lol...first off welcome aboard..and secondly this move warrants enthusiasm, but the Sox still got those Twins ahead of them and they are the division champs until someone knocks them out. I've not seen so many happy Sox fans since the start of the 2000 playoffs. I think this is going to be a real exciting season. I've had a great feeling this whole offseason and I'm real excited for the start of the season. As far as who starts..I'm not concerned cause I think when its all set and done were going to have one of the best 5 man rotations in the majors, that has pretty much 5 potential aces, and two proven aces. I love it
-
Only if one of the starters goes down or if Rowand really struggles and Borchard is tearing the cover off the ball. Otherwise, it will be wait till September, but he will with the Sox permanently after this season.
-
Both sides are happy and he will go to the Jags. Come on Bears...get him....get him......get him
-
Of course all are consist on failing to get the big wins.
-
I want to buy tickets for the dodgers games right f***ing now! I'm with you on that. man jason i gotta get my dad to get us those corporate tickets when the sox come to town, how great would that be! HELL YA Gary...that would be sweet...right above the Dugout...Get talking right now Gary
-
He didn't say it was all me...he just said how it went on. I don't think he was bragging like an ass...just stating facts.
-
You will cause Ginter won't have a shot next year. I wouldn't be surprised if the Sox dealt him. The only reason they will keep him around is as a backup plan in the minors, something thats always good to have.
-
Ya...he's like Sosa in that regards. Sammy always does that too. There are actually a lot of players out there like that. They go back to there home and eat and get fat, but atheletes and shed weight real fast.
-
where did you hear this. Chicagosports. Ken Williams in his interview also discussed the gist of it and basically he was the sole creator of the whole deal. Check out Soxbadgers post...he gives a great overview of Williams interview for those of us that are out of towners.

That is a bit of a bothersome tidbit though. Seems that if he hasn't made it yet he might be destined for a utility role? Not that we can't use such a player with Graffy on the mend and Harris still learning. So what? Nunez is only a sweetener. If he turns out to be something, its a bonus. For now tho, this deal is great just because we got Bartolo! does this mean that tony g injury is alot more severe? Torn ACL is severe and I do think the Sox wonder if he'll be back at the start of the season. Nunez is a pretty solid player.
