Finley's agent contacted the Dodgers today and said he will not be returning to St. Louis. The Cardinals have already informed him of this. I'd definately want him, but he ain't worth losing our 15th pick for.
-
Whoops...for some reason I thought I already turned that on for you. Its all set up now Mario.
-
I heard that...I still think they may make a move for an offensive playmaker and then draft Ragone in the 2nd. Oh ya, I would of been so happy if we got McGahee, but its also known that the Texans (3rd Pick) were planning on taking him.
-
If it were the Niners who had that happen to them, I'd feel a bit more, but the Giants blew a 24 point lead and screwed the snap up anyway...They didn't deserve to win. Does it suck they got screwed...your damn right it does...I was hoping for Mooch to get canned and that Mooch getting fired would somehow convince Bears management to can Jauron and hire Mooch. Still, I can't feel sorry for a team that blew a 24 point lead. Just like I couldn't feel sorry this season when the Bears squandered all those double digit leads this year. When teams blow leads like that, its bad coaching with a mix of bad play, but its still horrible coaching.

I can't believe how hard it is for some of the games great closers to make it into the game. In the past closers were tough guys that had to really go out and pitch. They didn't pitch 50 innings, they'd pitch 100 or more and were really great. It looks like its going to be a while before any of them get in too.

If I could have any owner, it would be Mark Cuban...I love that guy. He cares about the fans, and his players. I've never seen a guy that is less selfish then him. Whats he do, he builds a great stadium and makes it all interactive for the fans. He then does all he can to put out a great team for them, and is always at the game enjoying himself and is very friendly with the fans. As far as the players, he'd let them live at his own house if the NBA didnt' make rules against that, and he built them a state of the art clubhouse and training center so his players would be happy, but also so players would want to come their. Mark Cuban is the man....I sure hope one of these days he gets some interest in the South Side and rejevunating a team with awesome fans, but little hope.

Lol..speaking of Navarro he's pitching pretty good down in the Venezulean league, or one of those winter leagues. Got like a 4.19 era. By the way...thanks for the kind words....we all have a ton of fun running this site and community. Its awesome to see how much its grown since we started a year and 8 months ago or so and it wouldn't be what it is without the great posters who contribute and those that browse. Hopefully we'll be talking about getting playoff tickets at the end of the season!!!!!!!!!!!!

Will someone please explain the Millwood trade to me? I know money is always a consideration in today's game but to get so little for him. I don't get it. The Atlanta GM is supposed to be one of the best. Right? I don't get it. No one can really explain or understand the Millwood deal. It was a deal done in the terms of now. The Braves had to cut payroll and for some reason instead of waiting a week or two or even a month to get it done, they did it immediately and didn't even sit or wait on other offers. They were nuts to deal Millwood for that little, a 26 or 28 year old backup catcher that isn't regarded as anything. Josh Paul is twice as good as him. The deal wouldn't of been as horrible had the Braves traded him outside of their division, but they gave him to division foe, Philedelphia, whose one of the up and coming teams in all of baseball and could just end the Braves consecutive division titles streak.

I won't be their, but I would like to hear any comments that the GM makes.

The best thing you can teach kids is fundementals, they will grow into throwing hard and everything else. Plus, in the lower leagues, you don't need to throw a curve, if you can throw accurate, and learn to throw a changeup (A pitch I think all pitchers should throw) you will be very sucessful. When it comes to fielding, you need to stress, staying down on the ball, and staying in front of it. Basically if you want to be a good coach, tell kids to forget the flashy play, and just to learn the fundementals cause when you got great fundementals flashy plays come along with them. Its those that only care about that that screw things up, and coaches tell them to do it.

I was lucky, when I played my coaches didn't even let me throw a curve ball and I even think it was a league rule until you were like 15. It didn't stop me from blowing my arm, but that happened because of overuse, I always felt I could throw and I threw way too much, considering I basically played year around in many leagues. Still, once I got to the higher leagues where you would travel and such, I'd run probably 5 miles every other day. I'm trying to get back into that groove now, just for the sake of staying in real good shape.

Its simple, if you are going to go to a losing team you expect to get more money. If your going to a winning team, they are willing to take 500k less or so. Still, that was pathetic, 1.5 mil for Albie Lopez, haaa. Way to go Royals, looks like your on the way to the AL Central Title
-
Yep, all signs point to me doing my first show on Saturday around 12 pm (2 pm Central time)
-
Thats a great comment, but George isn't losing money on the Yankees.
-
Abbot always had a pretty sweet swing, and I'll always remember that homer he hit against the Twins.
-
Dang...one thing for sure is, we know kids are throwing harder and its got to be a big reason why kids are throwing their arms out more and more often. Arms just aren't meant to throw the ball the way we do it, they are meant to throw it softball style or at least thats what I remember hearing a year or two ago when they were talking about all the extra surgeries. Of course I still think most of the injuries are because of the radar gun (Forces many to overthrow or forget about mechanics so they can do all they can to cheat and throw harder) and the fact that pitchers now don't run anywhere near what pitchers in the past used to. Man, pitchers in the olden days would run till their legs fell off, and would then run some more. I'd like to see the Sox step out and go back to that old school mentality and run the heck out of their pitchers. It ain't going to hurt their arms and at worse we'd get to see our players come back at Soxfest more often as they'd be living a lot longer.

Welcome Aboard Godfather. I couldn't be more with you. I still can't get over the fact we didn't get Millwood. I was pissed about not getting Ortiz, but figured it was because they were asking too much, and then Millwood gets traded for Johnny Who????? We could of given them Josh Paul and had a done deal. As far as I'm concerned JR just isn't interested in anything but money and he definately doesn't care if they are going to win, unless he makes more money along the way. JR is a royal prick, but I just hope this organization finds a way to win inspite of him. Man...well...the only thing going is I should outlive JR (Knock on Wood) Still, I do have some hope left that they'll land Colon or Vazquez for next to nothing, and I do believe the Sox will compete for the playoffs next season and I think they may just make it.

You better enjoy that feeling, cause those lungs are only going to get better

I think Sandberg deserved to be in over Gary Carter though. Also, I will look up Jim Kaat's stats, but from what I've heard about the guy ya, he deserved to be in. I didn't see him play though.
-
Hahaha, spoken like a true teeny bopper Yep...that was great Cerb
-
Here's a pic: Thanks for the info mac...If I recall he's put a couple miles onto his fastball and they think he could still put a couple more miles onto it. The Sox are really high on this kid and he could be our best sleeper pick since, Mark Buerhle
-
Your all set up now...how does that look Vince?
-
But his fastball is as fast as a 38-year old's and his breaking ball breaks as much as much as a 10th grader's. God I hate Osuna Last I remember Osuna was getting clocked around 94 near the end of the season and he pitched pretty damn well for the Sox, especially as a mid reliever.
-
Is that because you don't think he deserves it, or you don't think he's a first ballot hall of famer? If you don't think he deserves it, I'm curious to hear your argument.

Are you quitting cold turkey?
