Almonte was in AAA last year. He did exceptional in AA two years ago, set the save record (Valentine then broke it last year) and Almonte moved to AAA last season where he excelled. This would be his 2nd year in AAA. He is definately going to get a shot at making the bullpen this year, and if their are any injuries, he'll likely be the first one called up.

Hey Judy...when your doing the font and stuff, after you finish your typing, then hit close all tags, which can be found right next to the color icon. Then your posts will appear in color. I fixed the coding on the other too. You picked a real good player though. Herbert was an awesome guy, and a real solid player. He did the little things, hustled, and helped the Sox big time in 2000. One of the better waiver pick ups that I can think of.

Well, that game definately made up for the lousiness of the yesterdays games, although the teams I wanted to win, did win.

The Hawks represent everything evil in this world. Please, GO HAWKEYES GO. They almost upset Mizzu in basketball yesterday.

He definately needs to improve his d. I don't really worry about that though, cause I Think he's going to be one of the premier big man defenders in this league in a couple years. He has speed, is gaining muscle, has great reach and leaping ability and has awesome ethic. This kid is going to be great defensively. I've always wondered what he'd do offensively, but I see him developing into a very good nba player.

What an awesome comeback. I can't believe it. Man, the Browns choke more then any other team in the nfl. Niners are up early, after Terrell Owens made a huge touchdown grab. Owens is such a good reciever. "Sign O Trouble"

The one thing I like about Rauch is that he hasn't really been rushed. He shouldn't of started with the Sox last season, but they saved face, as they gave him more time in AAA and he's really had quite a bit of exeperience in the minors and is a pretty complete pitcher. If he's healthy, he should be up, but he shouldn't be back up until he's 100%. I liked his control, loved his curve ball, love his arm angle, and now its just time to see his fastball gain about 2-3 mph (Which should happen as he should be healthy after a good season back where he gained stamina, muscle, etc)

If we could get Vazquez for someone like Liefer and a mid level prospect (or at worse Hummel or Harris) I'd definately do it. I really think this is an odd year and players don't have the value everyone thinks they do. If they make money, they can be had relatively cheap.
-
Well, I believe if we dealt Lee and nothing else, it would be well worth it, but I'm really starting to think he can be had relatively cheap, as in Lee straight up or even just a couple middle of the level prospects. No one like Crede or Rauch or Borchard. If we were to move Lee, I wouldn't be totally against it if we got Colon, although I see Carlos blossoming into a real real good player this season. I really got to hope the Sox get things together this year and fans come out and JR can expand the payroll a bit next year. I do believe if the fans came out (Which will happen if they win, etc), and the Sox make the playoffs, things could just be right where we want them as Sox fans. Remember, now we have a better pitching staff then in 2000, and more of our younger guys are ready.
-
I definately think Rauch can be a true ace, thats why I never want to see us deal him. The guy is going to be phenomenal. I am so excited to see him pitch. I really believe he is going to be one of those kids that can make an immediate impact. I'm not saying era in the 3's, but low 4's throwing innings, winning a lot of games. I'm hoping he can burst onto the scene ala Freddy Garcia, Mulder, Zito, and Hudson.

He had another game last night and is becoming a much better offensive player every game. Earlier in the week he had that 27 point game where he shot amazing from the charity stripe, and you can just see that he's gaining so much confidence in his moves. As his jump shot continues to develop, he will become a legit scoring threat. Afterall, he has extreme quickness to take it to the hole and as people start to respect his shot, it will make him so much better.
-
I'd be all for 2 veteran starters, especially considering that it would probably cost something like 750k a piece, which is only 1.5 mill. Even JR's cheap self can afford that. Of course, maybe he really is holding out for Colon and hey, it could turn into a real good thing cause Colon's value has continued to drop.

No problem. We'll have minor league coverage back up on Soxnet.net as the minor league season approaches. We started doing it late last year and it should only get better. I think we have a small writeup on him somewhere on the site, when we did our top 25 prospect list.
-
I think they'll end up getting Person or Valdes.
-
You have to think if the Browns go far with Holcombe, that they will try and move Tim Couch for a 1st or 2nd round pick. Its amazing how many backups have stepped in and played so well, and yet, with the Bears, they played so horrible. Giants will beat the Niners later.
-
I've been considering that. Was trying to think of something that could go between All Star and MVP or MVP and Hall of Famer.
-
Yep, I made it so they were bigger gaps, so it would last longer. I had to figure out some way to be creative. Also, some of the smilies are back, I got to find a couple of the other ones on my computer still.

Almonte is a AAAer but some thing he may just make the bullpen out of spring training, especially if the Sox go with an 11 man staff, and keep Ritchie and Rauch as their starters. If they pick up another starter, he'll likely start off in AAA. His best pitch is a changeup and many compare him to Keith Foulke. He's put up unbelievable numbers in the minors at both AA and AAA. What you have to remember is, the Sox AAA park (Where the Knights Play) is a hitters paradise and he's still put up really good numbers.

Well, the metal smilies are these rock smilies, they aren't like typical smilies. I have done a lot of customizing today, getting all the settings and stuff back. We have about 5 or 6 of them that will be added.

Over the next couple days I'll be adding to this list, but I want to inform all the users of some of the new featuers of this board. 1. Private messaging works again. 2. I've created a brand new ranking system. - 0-30 (Rookie Leaguer) - 30-100 (A Ball) - 100-200 (AA Ball) - 200-250 (AAA Ball) - 250-500 (Setpember Call Up) - 500-1000 (Starter) - 1000-1500 (All Star) - 1500-2000 (MVP) - 2000-up (Hall of Famer) 3. Open all the tags, then type in what you need, then hit close all tags. - Different way of quoting. From now on, just hit the quote button and do all the typing in the top box, that says enter the post. The quote is in a seperate area, so people no longer have to worry about moving the quote around, etc. If you do want to quote, just something seperate, hit the quote button in the post area. - Different Stats area. On the bottom of the main page, you can look at a whole lot of posters, stats, etc. 4. Posters can still upload and all that stuff. I got that feature turned back on. I also dropped the time, so you no longer have to worry about posts in a certain time period or whatever was on. 5. Coming Soon -New Chat Room -New Color Scheme -New Smilies (Some more Still to Come) If anyone has any other suggestions, that weren't mentioned, here, please post them and I'll put them on my list and see what I can do.

I'm shooting to get those added on Monday.

I like Rowand a lot. Still, I don't know if he can be an everyday player. I like what he does defensively, and I really like how he moves runners over, can bunt, etc. The thing is, he's still got to work on his eye, and if he can do that, and continue to cut back on the strikeouts, I Think he'll become a solid player.
-
He was one of the guys we acquired during the trade deadline and I think we got him in the Kenny Lofton deal along with Felix Diaz, but don't quote me on that. He's a solid closer, but he's too old to be pitching at A ball. Still, don't count him out, but don't expect huge things from him either. He's got to get to better levels and continue to pitch well.
