  1. I do think I could do a decent job of it. The area I woul fail in is developing the minor leagues. I'd basically have to just hire the best scouts out their and let them do the majority of the scouting for me. Then they could pick some of the guys that are really impressive or that they like a lot, and those would be the guys I'd personally scout.

    2003 Roster

Person and Valdes will probably last a while. Daal may too as he's out their and hasn't recieved much interest other then from the Sox. Oh ya, let me just go on the record as saying that rotation is ugly. Our bullpen will be killed. You have to go into the season expecting Rauch to have plenty of short starts, and we know Biddle can't go deep into games(Until he proves it, then I see it that way). Wright and Garland are pretty good at battling so you can figure 6 innings a game for them and 7 or so from Buerhle, but for pete sake, maybe you only get a combined 9 innings a game from Rauch and Biddle. What does that do to this pen? It KILLS it. They need a guy in here that can throw the innings for sure.
  3. As far as I know we can't sign him to the beginning of May (Ritchie). Still, I Would of figured I could find something to verify this. I know now that he hasn't accepted arbitration he can go elsewhere and the Sox can offer him less, its just not for a long time. Also, did the Sox actually make him an offer at the max discoutn they could get? The stuff I've read make it seem like they did, but Ritchie would of been nuts to turn something like that down, so I'm assuming the Sox decided to look in another direction.
  4. Well, if we lose Paul were still hopeless. We need 3 catchers that can handle the major league duties if necessary. First off, we dont know what happens with Olivo. Secondly, Alomar is a great pickup cause it gives us a good veteran that the pitching staff likes that can help Olivo. The problem is, Alomar does get injured, so you know someone else is going to be their, so who will the Sox turn to now, if Paul can't make it to AAA. We better look to pick up someone to a minor league deal.
  5. Paul will be the 26th man. If Alomar goes down then he will be up. The Sox can't really deal him unless they pick up some other minor leaguer thats decent enough to handle the catching duties.
  6. They said they offered Buerhle a real good contract and he turned it down. I'm sorry, but Zito is better then Buerhle, imo and he was offered more money. Allegedly of course.
  7. Well, according to KW, they gave him an offer that would be more then Zito, Sabathia, etc. Don't know how true it is, but maybe they are trying. Also, I was pretty upset yesterday. I know their are still options out their, and i guess millwood is due to make 10 mill, but I just hate giving up a ton for someone like Colon if we could of gotten a pretty good pitcher for nothing. Oh ya, it looks like it will be Daal or Valdes.
  8. It took me this to do it for me. I'd always wanted a new owner, but I have always thought these things as rational as I could and could see points, but I see no point to this, other then simple and uttery cheapness and JR's lack of desire to win. He would of easily made the money back. Common sense says if the Sox win cause you spend an extra 7 million you will reap the benefits in the end. JR mustn't of read what the Angels and Giants got for going to the Series. Well..that or he just looked and said thats too expensive, then the fans will expect that out of me everyyear.
  9. Thats exactly what JR's cheap ass is going to be saying. JR, here's a suggestion, ask the fans if they'd be willing to combine and pay Millwoods salary, cause I'd of put 100 bucks in if it would of allowed the Sox to sign Millwood and Cruz Jr. We need New OWNERSHIP!!!!
  10. Their is only one think this comes down to. Jerry f***ing Reinsdorf. Absolutely ridiculous...bulls***!!!!!!
  11. Paul Wilson is available. Yep, we could of had an 18 game winner in Millwood thats just 28, but hey, that would of cost too much (Wait, we could of had him for Josh Freaking Paul) Instead we'll get a decent pitcher in paul Wilson, who does nothing for this staff, other then add an extra arm. Why can't this payroll be at least 55 mill. That would easily give KW the flexibility to sign or acquire the likes of Millwood and Jose Cruz Jr. Guess it was a pipe dream. Is it too much to ask for management to keep the payroll the same as it was a year ago, when guys are out their that could make the Sox a World Series contender. I ain't even asking them to raise the payroll (Heaven Forbid), but for god sake they are having an all star game and so much increased revenue from that. They can't f***ing afford Kevin Millwood for one year. This is bulls***. I've sat around being patient long enough. Jr, if you read these boards, I want you to stop your silence and come out and talk to the media and tell us the fans, why you aren't making this team better. Enough with the lies that you want a World Series more then an NBA title. We all see its a bunch of bulls*** now. Hopefully you fall and hit your head and get amnesia and you forget what a cheap prick you are. Thats the only way I ever see this team doing anything. Am I still a fan of this team...hell ya...but my support of you has ended (To think I've actually defended you at times, that makes me sick) Go to hell JR....Sincerely Another DieHard Sox Fan that thinks your a jagoff.
  12. Good freaking grief. That guy isn't even that talented of a catcher. We could of given them Willie Harris and Josh Paul and I would of been stoked. This royally pisses me off. We could of had a young pitcher, entering his prime and didn't do it. Son of a b****. JR, if it was your fault, that you wouldn't add a whopping 4 mill or so to the payroll, then kiss my ass. That would of given us a damn good rotation and put us back as the favorites in the division. What a pile of s***.
  13. Your all set 420. I completely forgot about fixing it, been so busy with finals.
  14. The Sox definately want him as a coach or would like it. He just has to work in the minors before he ever gets a gig at the majors. Rigth now he must think he needs to give it one last shot, so, I say go for it Cal.
  15. I'd still take Ichiro any day of the week. He's the premier leadoff hitter in baseball and the best defensive right fielder in baseball. Ichiro is flat out fun to watch. He hustles, makes contact. I love watching that guy play.
  16. I like the idea of having a strong left handed pitcher that seems to have good secondary pitches. 90 mph is plenty if you have a sharp curve and a quality change. It ain't like Zito or Mulder or Glavine gun it. Buerhle don't either. This Holt guy seems like he's a potential 5 tool guy, that needs a lot of work. He may be one of those guys that figures things out later, but he definately has a lot of developing to do.
  17. I'm assuming they overlook the pitching in the entire minors and help out different prospects.

    Rowand

    Rowand is a team guy.
  19. The question is whether you'd want Foulke for one year then Valentine closing for 2 years or Koch closing for 3 yrs. If we are going to compete we need a good closer, so I'll take Koch for the next 3 years.
  20. To me Fizer is so much like Karl Malone, its just he needs playing time. Right now he's got a ton of confidence. Do the Bulls move him and hope Baxter can put up similar stats? I like him a lot, and think he deserves plenty of minutes every game.
  21. I'm hoping they luck out and win the lottery if they don't make the playoffs and get Labron James or trade the pick for a superstar.

    Blah

They better beat the Lakers on Christmas day.
  23. He is 28 years old and will turn 29 in the middle of April. He made 3.7 million last year. 2002: .245 avg, 18 hr, 70 rbi, 51 bb, 106 k's, 7 sb. He only played in 124 games. 2001: .274 avg, 34 hr, 88 rbi, 45 bb, 138 k's, 32 sb's, 5 cs. 2000: .242 avg, 31 hr, 76 rbi, 71 bb, 129 k's, 15 sb, 5 cs. Basically this guy strikes out a lot, and will only hit .250 but he seems to walk a good number of times and is a phenomenal defensive outfielder. The guy has an arm and amazing range. He is also very good on the base paths and has plenty of power. This guy would be an amazing pickup. He reminds me of Mike Cameron with more power and better patience. Both strike out a ton, but Cruz does draw walks. Putting him in our lineup, would really give this team a complete threat, as well as more left handed power (He's a switch hitter)
