  1. This is a good deal for both parties. Each party has stability in this, while Thomas gets more money up front, the Sox save a bit, especially if he turns out to be a bust. If he turns out to be a bust, Thomas can still keep coming back, but from what I know the Sox can also consider to move him and their will be no serious trade kicker, like their was in his old contract.
  2. Am I the only one who liked these quotes. To me it looks like KW is inserting himself and actually being a man. I don't know if he actually will follow what he's preaching, but he's basically saying we may not be best friends, but that doesn't mean we can't have a good professional relationship, and thats what its all about. Thomas is going to have a monster season, I don't doubt it, and I'm exstatict that we have him back. I always said I'd like to see a way for the Sox to get Frank back, but not necessarily, keeping him for a ton of years, while we wait and see what we have in Lee as well as Borchard. Hopefully Lee doesn't go anywhere. Right now, he's our best option in left, cause with Rowand a big ?(Mainly cause he never has started a full season) then its good to have some consistency in guys like Frank and Caballo, PK, and Maggs, even Manos, cause you don't know what you get out of Crede, Rowand, Jimenez, and Olivo. You can only have so many young guys playing together and compete and right now I think the Sox have that perfect mix.
  3. Matt I thought this was a good article. You brought up some good points. Of course, I liked the deal, but I do like your point about not having a true catcher that can handle the pitchers and it will bite the Sox in the butt, if they don't pick up a veteran catcher. Still, I fail to recognize what some see in Mark Johnson.

    HEY CHISOXFN

Sorry I've taken so long. I'm at work right now, but I'm leaving in like 10 minutes to my mom's house. I've been swamped and finals are coming up. For the sig, I'm gonna resize it so it fits, but I can't do the old roman part(I don't know how to edit graphics, but I'm giong to give that to Mark and see if he can do it, but that takes a bit longer)
  5. Ya, and then he can opt out of the contract next year if he wants. This seems like a great deal for both parties.
  6. We need to pick up Byrd or Maddux.
  7. Ya, thats KW's very wise theory, but I don't see mid relievers getting 3-5 mill with the new salary structure, especially considering a stud like Remlinger gets just a bit over 3 mill a year.
  8. Basically if Frank wants to come back, then the contract is for less money, I think 6 million next year and then whatever the next year and the year following. If Thomas declines the option, then the So can accept it, but for a little more money each year. I'm really sorry I haven't written something up on the main page, but I think I've sold my truck, so I've been on the phone haggling the past hour with the person I'm getting my other car from. Lets just say I'm no KW, their ain't no playe to be named later with me. I'm like the US, I don't negotiate
  9. Glover is a stud. He ain't going anywhere. I love him in the pen.
  10. Mike, we are agreeing on that. Thomas is going to step it up and have a huge year.
  11. I'm not too worried about 2 or 3 yrs from now cause I think were in great shape. I worry about now. I know this farm system is stacked and were gonna have a great staff. I don't doubt it. To win this year, Jimenez will have to play, and our players will have to improve over last year. I also think having a huge yaer out of Frank will help and then as longas Garland and Wright improve and become more consistent and Buerhle stays the same and the pen does what I think, we'll be set.
  12. Well, if in fact the Sox have reupped with Thomas and they no longer have to worry about the deferred money, then maybe just maybe they'll keep everyone together and acquire Paul Byrd.
  13. I don't know how to do all that fancy stuff Heather. I can barely resize a stinking picture.
  14. From what I hear in Anaheim they are basically going to resign all their guys to long term deals and then maybe look for a starter as well as a starting outfielder.
  15. He's gonna be real good. Marte, will you bechanging to ParteArnie in a couple years?
  16. I'd tend to agree with you Baggs. Every reliever implodes at times. I'll give Keith his credit, he whined about being a starter, but he took his demotion with class and he's a good reliever. We all know I like Koch a ton, but I don't have a thing against Foulke.
  17. I'll hook it up. For some reason we can't have pics in the signature from the board, so I simply will upload it through ftp and insert it for you. If it was hosted from another site, it would work just fine, its just if its attached from our site, then it don't work for some reason. I've always told them to fix it, but they don't know why.

    CHI

Sorry to hear about your Grandma LDF. When I was back in Chicago in August, I drove by it and it looked really funny. I think at worse they'll have to redo the pillars and make them bigger.
  19. Ya, mutual options exist. I don't know the exact meaning of them, but they are their. Interesting on Frank signing a new deal. I think that would be a sweet move, especially if it voids the other one.
  20. If he's their this season I'll get a good scouting report on him. The one thing I worry about Munoz is that he's now thrown quite a few combined innings this year and I think its to the point they aught to shut him down and give him a couple months off. This guy is going to be real good from the left side. I really think the future left side of our pen is Marte, Munoz, and Ring. Thats really nasty, imo. Then you got Koch, Majewski, Glover, and maybe Almonte from the right side.
  21. I think Thomas already has been told if he comes back he'll get 3-5 million. I think they will talk to him, point out how they got Koch and how they want to get one more pitcher and if your willing to take a bit less, then we can afford to sign a pitcher and hold onto you and Carlos Lee for another year, this way the offense is intack.
  22. I'm with RPS, screw the two of em. This was a good deal by the Rangers. Drese is a decent pitcher and Diaz ain't too bad of a catcher. The Tribe got a guy that had tremendous stats and is a bit old, but its not a horrible move for them either. They aren't getting anything special in Aaron Myette though.
  23. He's a lot better then Mark Johson, both at the plate and when it comes to handling pitchers. This would be a very solid move, imo. I've only heard good things about him. Plus, for all those Cub haters here, don't you remember he went after those Cub fans I'd love having a guy like him behind Olivo.
  24. Yan is a guy I like a whole lot. The guy has great speed and gap power. He is a slap hitter and realizes that for him to be a good hitter and make the majors he has to not strike out and hit the ball on the ground/on a line, anything else is inexcuseable. I compare this kid to Luis Castill of the Marlins and I think he's going to pan out.
  25. Ya, if you click on recieve email notification when you make the posts and I Think their is another wayt to do it. I'll check for you. BB Code is simply the code that the tools use when you make the post. Kind of like how you can add a link, if you hit the link button and then you type into the box and it will enter the code for you. That sort of thing.
