Anyone seeking Buehrle, Ordonez, Konerko jerseys...

The one thing I like so much is that KW has not only got the system loaded with very good starting prospects, and very good position prospects, but we have to be the deepest organization when it comes to relieving prospects. Ring is nasty as is Munoz. Plus we have Majewski, Valentine, and Almonte and then some other guys like Sanders, Meaux, etc. KW hasn't done a great job at the big league level, but I will not deny this guys sucess at the minor league level. Like him or not, I just try to see things from a rational point of view, trying to be as unbias as I can be.

I wish the White Sox had the trib's management. They may of been cheap for a long time, but over the past 3 yrs they've opened their wallets and let Mcphail and now Hendry run the show.
-
Remember, last season Foulke's role was changed a lot more in terms that he didn't have as many multiple inning outings. Plus, if you watched the way Jerry handled the relievers, it changed drastically late in the season. Near the end he seemed to leave his relievers out their much longer, but during the majority of the season he was very quick with them. Plus, if a manager can't change his style when it comes to a closer, then he shouldn't be managing. The typical closer only goes one inning and thats something ever manager in baseball has to deal with, if Jerry can't, then get his butt out of here.

I'd sign Lieber, but the Cubs will probably give him much more money. The only way I'd sign him is if it was to a minimum contract with option years and big time performance clauses that could push his salary up to about 7 or 8 million if he returns to his pre-surgery form. Basically, that ain't going to happen as the Cubs will offer him a couple million a year and he's very loyal to them and thankful that they will take care of him. Plus he won't be any use to us at all this season, cause it takes one full year after the surgery to recover. At the earliest he could make his first start August 1st.

The big ten will get the rose bowl. The only way ND would of played in it would of been if Washington State made the national title game. I know Iowa isn't guaranteed the Rose Bowl, but the BCS has hinted all along that they will take both big ten teams. Notre Dame probably won't get a BCS bowl because they lost by so much, but it is a joke that in one poll they are ranked behind a 3 loss Michigan team, a team in which Notre Dame beat. Vince, I got to call it like I see it Now I can only hope that Iowa somehow moves ahead of Georgia and gets into the 3rd slot in the BCS and then Miami loses and Iowa can play Ohio state cause Iowa will kick their butts.

Oh God, just say know to Lankford. That guy has a huge hole in his swing and k's a ton. I think Hollandsworth would win the left field job if Carlos Lee is Dh'ing(If Thomas goes to Bmore) or if Lee is traded(Something I wouldn't really like to see)

Thast right. Meaux is a lefty right? I know we got one lefty closer and I thought it was Ryan Meaux.
-
Amen to that.

Ya, Thome couldn't turn down all those years. The tribe still has Vizquel, but you know they are trying to move him, especially since they acquired the premiere shortstop prospect in the majors in Brandon Phillips. He was acquired via the Bartolo Colon deal.
-
Cool...Actually come to think of it, I think thats where my mom lived for like a year during her childhood. The name seems real familiar.
-
Ryan Meaux is who I think your referring too. Although he may of been the guy we got from the Rockies for Sandy Alomar.

Is that city in Illinois?

Buerhle is the type of pitcher that definately could win 20 plus. Last season their were many games where he pitched good enough and deserved the win and their were also many where he just didn't have it, mainly later in the year as his arm fatigued. As is arm gets stronger I think we'll see less of those games where he just doesn't have it. Buerhle is a battler and will put up tons of quality starts and if the offense is producing he'll win the vast majority of those starts.

Now the Indians can concentrate soley on the younguns. I guess Lee Stevens will start at first for them until they can develop a prospect. Also, the Cubs signed left handed reliever Mike Remlinger to a 3yr deal with just over 10 million. ESPN is reporting that.

Great move for the Phillies. They get a leader in Thome as well as a guy that will help launch Phillies baseball into their new stadium in 2 years. I'm glad we won't have to see him on the Sox. Hopefully we'll meet him in the World Series, cause i'd love to just see the Sox in the series.

Pitchers develop slowly. Neither Garland or Wright are ready to step into the 2nd slot. In baseball, I don't buy sticking someone into a slot like that unless they have already proved they should be there. In two years, then maybe I will call Garland a two and Wright a 3, but for the time being they are still backend guys until they actually prove it at the major league level. Thats just the way I'd handle things if I was the general manager.

Hey Nuke Its an honor to know your serving our country proud and hopefully you'll make it back safe as will your son CW. I may not serve in the forces, but their is no one I respect more then those who protect our freedom by serving in the military.

Fargas always wanted to be a running back and Michigan didn't want to play him their. They thought he'd be an all pro corner, and the guy definately has the talent to be just that. He ended up trasnferring to USC and his dream of playing running back came true. I remember all the hype he got coming out of college. He whooped up on my highschool real good, just like Deshaun Foster did. Then he went to Michigan and I swear they told him he'd play running back. He probably figured he'd get the shot once the Train left.

But Heather, if you look at the World Series teams, they don't necessarily have a couple aces, but they all have plenty of quality pitchers. In the Giants and Angels case(The two world series teams this year) they didn't really have one ace, but they had 5 guys that would contribute. All I'm asking for is a guy like Daal or byrd that can step in and handle the leadership roll of the staff and pitch against the #2 guys, that way the youngsters would have less pressure, which should help Garland and Wright to continue to develop as well as Jon Rauch, once he enters the rotation. Plus, we'll use Ritchie at the start and I know he's gonna be much better. He may not be what many originally hoped him to be, but I definately think he can win 12-13 games for the Sox and since he'll be pitching in the 5 slot, he won't exactly be facing great competition. Also, when I think back a lot of the people who really struggled one season ended up rebounding pretty well. I mean guys that went after 20 losses. Daal has really turned things around since then and even Willie Blair had a decent season or two after that. Steve Traschel also had that terrible year and he's been decent since then. Ritchie was way too good to pitch the way he did and I'd say next to Daal he is the best of that class and will do better as long as he's healthy and he's got his mechanics straightened out, and I trust Cooper to do that.

Anyone seeking Buehrle, Ordonez, Konerko jerseys...

Welcome Aboard WSC. Its great to have another Sox fan here to talk about the team we all love so much. Hopefully the Sox will pick up a backup outfielder(I will continue to lobby for the signing of Todd Hollandsworth) as well as the acquisition whether via trade or free agency of a veteran starting pitcher. I know we offered Daal a contract and I'd be very happy with him, although I have my fingers crossed for Byrd. -

I can't even figure it out. Anyone know how to translate drunk? -
Now Now now, they didn't shy away from Frank and his big pay. They kept paying him, but its hard to give someone a whole lot of money when he hasn't produced in the past 2 years and 3 of the previous 4. If you have an out that will save the money, then go for it. Personally I hope they renegotiate it to the piont that if Thomas performs he gets all his money, if he doesn't he gets half of it. I think all contracts should have performane clauses that are big time, if you play big time you get big time money, if you don't you don't. I wish MLB was like the NFL where you don't have guaranteed contracts. As far as Ray being moved, he was about the only one moved, but he was something like the 2nd highest paid 2nd baseman in the majors, so don't tell me they were afraid to pay them. They just figured it wasn't in their best interest to pay a 2nd baseman that much, when they have guys like Buerhle and PK that are more important to the team coming up. Plus, they had some prime time prospects down in the minors in Harris and Hummell and they weren't exactly winning with Ray their, of course it was far from his fault and I'd love to have Ray hitting 2nd and playing 2nd base with Jimenez playing short and leading off for the Sox, with Harris and Graffy backing up and Manos and his fat salary being paid by someone else like George Porgie. Man after writing this post, I'd love to dump Manos and pick up Ray for like 3 mill a year over 2 yrs, which would allow time for our prospects like Edwin Yan to develop and if Hummel or Harris proves they can go, we can always move him. Its not going to happen, but hey, I like the idea of having a veteran #2 hitter, since were going to have a very young and untested leadoff hitter. And we all know I hate the idea of having Manos at short.

I thought it was like 15-25% of the votes to stay on the ballot. To me it works good. Most decent major leaguers get their names up their at least once, but only the stars stay on the ballot and eventually those that are deservent find their way in.
