Maybe Matsui ISN'T a lock to end up in New York?
Chisoxfn replied to doubleM23's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I dont' think he's gonna be a bust. From all reports I've heard, the major leaguers think he's real good. He plays good all around defense and I'm not sure what kind of speed he has, but he's supposed to be a great hitter. The big reason he'd be a good signing is I think it would be a great way to get the Asian Market involved with the White Sox. -
Michelle when you saw him two years ago, how did he look? Did he look real impressive or just ehhh?
-
Well I will always say Clayton is bad, but Manos is bad too. I think Royce was a big scape goat, and yes, he did stink while he was here and he's drastically overpaid, but I still think Manos is bad as well, not quite as bad as Royce, but he's still bad in my book. Of course I've been saying this the past year and a half, lol.

Thats the one time having a cheap owner will bail us out. We typically won't ever have to worry about picking up someone elses expensive, overpaid bum. I would take Hundley on the bench if we could pay him the minimum though. Problem is,the sCrUBs just acquired Damian Miller for prospects. So where is Todd the Wad playing next year?? Please,God,NOT ON THE SOUTH SIDE!!
-
They got the Paulie deal done first because they have been talking extension with him the past season, mixed with the fact that Buerhle is still in Japan if I recall, and then when he comes back the Sox are going to try to lock him up.
-
Sandy's a free agent now, correct? I forget whether this is his first year with the team or his second, lol. I know we signed him to a two year deal. Still he would be a solid backup catcher and he isn't super expensive. Of course the key is he's a backup, we need Olivo playing and learning, but Alomar would be a great teacher and I definately would want him as a coach once he retires.

Welcome aboard witesoxfan. As everyone else has already mentioned, don't even worry about Borchard going anywhere, he's JR and KW's golden boy. I also think Rauch is staying put. If anyone goes it will be someone like Diaz or Malone and possibly Wright or Lee. To me Wright and Lee are the only position players that could get dealt. Others will mention Foulke in their, but I think he's staying. I'd like to see Manos go, but I know he isn't going anywhere.

SN Report: Sox Sign Johnson to One-Year Extension

Thats what everyone's hinting and Lilly and Lidle are on the block. Man would it be great to finally take advantage of another team trying to dump salary. -
Our bullpen will be damn good and only get better as long as we have one guy that is a damn good closer. Foulke can do it, and I'd hate putting it in the hands of anyone else until they prove they can. Stick with Foulke this year, if he dominates, lock him up for another couple years, and let the young arms learn under him, then eventually deal him off. I like Ring, Valentine and Almonte, although Almonte may not make it because he's more of a soft tosser. Sanders is good though.
-
Well if the Sox could acquire Vladdy, I'd just say damn. It would definately cost us Lee, but it probably would also cost Borchard, Honel and Rauch, or something along those lines. Of course Vladdy isn't on the trade block and I know the Sox won't land him. Right now I won't worry about that either, the offense is great, I worry about pitching and centerfield.

The deal was supposedly nixed or is in the process of being nixed. Hampton doesn't want to go to Florida or at least thats what I heard.
-
Well if Thomas leaves, then it means Lee will move to DH and the Sox will definately have to pick up another outfielder and then just sign a free agent pitcher.
-
Welcome aboard CW. Oh ya, I'm working on a new chatroom, one that hopefully you can acess, lol. It was you that always had trouble with our current one right?
-
The Sox are looking to pick up a centerfielder if the timing is right. Now I'm not saying they are going to pick up a star, but someone like Todd Hollandworth who I recently suggested definately fits the bill and would at least provide a left handed stick in the lineup. It is not a guarantee they will pick one up, but KW did mention he was hoping he could of kept the Rowand injury quiet so he would of had better leeway negotiating a deal. At least he understands what leverage is now. See, and everyone thinks he doesn't learn, haa! Does anyone see something like a Juan Pierre for Rowand swap? I know the Rockies are high on Rowand and I don't know much about Pierre, but he's supposed to have great range and amazing speed. Any other ideas of centerfielders?

Well, I at least see that your online now, so hopefully its saving your cookie. Do you know what browser you are using?

I like Rose a lot, but I notice at times it looks like Rose and Jwill can't share the ball. You'll see Jwill cut open and Rose will hold onto it. I like Rose a whole lot, but if we could get another real good small forward who can play defense, then it would be a great move. If we keep him, its still great, but I think the Bulls should then move Crawford and Fizer and a future pick for a starting guard.

Here's the story http://www.soxnet.net/snreport/365-11.14.html Its a 3yr 23 million dollar deal, so he's getting paid very well.
-
Florida? IT looks like the Marlins and Rockies have reached an agreement, but it could be nixed by either Charles Johnson or Mike Hampton. Hampton and Pierre go to the Marlins for Charles Johnson, Preston Wilson, Vic Darrensburg and some other people I never heard of. Makes sense for both teams. Hampton would probably pitch for the Marlins and the Marlins will hope he returns to old form and ask for a large ransom in return and end up dumping a whole lot of salary while gaining some top notch prospects.
-
Lidle makes like 3.5 or 4.5 million a year. I'm guessing the Sox will sign BUerhle to like a 3 yr 15 or 16 mill deal.
-
Awesome move by the organization. Getting PK locked up is a big statement showing that they are going to try. Now they need to lock Buerhle up and make some noise by signing or acquiring a front line starting pitcher or even two of them, or just get a front line starter and a real good centerfielder.

If the Sox were smart they'd get the Matsui that plays shorstop. The guy hit over .300 and hit 30+ hr's. He is very good defensively and super quick. His one weakness is he isn't too patient at the plate but he still should hit .300 or so with 20 hr's and 40-50 steals at the major league level. Of course I would definately take this Matsui as our centerfielder. If Jr was smart he'd get him and then use Rowand or Lee to acquire Colon who doesn't make too much and the Sox attendance should shoot straight through the roof and he may just get the fans to start respecting him, especially cause a team like that would compete for it all. -
Sec, I agree with you. As far as Vladimir, I think your confusing him with Vazquez the starting pitcher, unless the sp stands for something else? Anyway, we need to get Manos out of here. He isn't starting material imo, and if Hummell keeps hitting and Jimenez can play like I know he can, then we will have 2 capable middle infielders and no need for Valentin and his salary, especially cause Harris and Graffy are capable backups. I am just sick of hearing Valentin cry and cry and blame things on everyone but himself.
-
Well to me Foulke is exceptional and Glover is good as is Osuna. I like our depth in the pen. The one guy I'm not convinced on is Rocky Biddle. He just never has shown me he can be anything more then mediocre to bad.
-
Ya, I've been watching him slowly keep improving. It looks like a good finish and some good numbers could be just what the doctor ordered for his confidence. The guy was a hitting machine up until last season and it would be huge if he could get back on track cause he should become our second baseman after this upcom ing season when Valentin moves elsewhere and Jimenez moves to short.
