Jerry Reinsdorf open to selling the White Sox per Britt Ghiroli
Chisoxfn replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Hopefully a legit buyer shows up based upon this league and the mlb owners force JR to sell to that person and drive it home - a legit deep pocket buyer with real money. Or if this is a ploy as it seems to be (although I know some of the minority owners have pushed/suggested it’s time to sell) it’s so pathetic that I hope at some point MLB just steps in and auctions this thing out - stay in Chicago - highest bid wins. -
Happy for Justin though. But man talk about a fun two weeks. Now the bye week and what should be a really good battle between two outstanding rookie qbs. Please let this be just the beginning of a super magical run with the Bears!!!

They had to make that move.

The trade ideas begin! Robert for Holliday ++
Chisoxfn replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
A year ago - maybe - but now - no way. Even a year ago would have probably been no - because O's wouldn't have traded him, even at Robert max value. Now here - Robert's value has came down more than Holliday's. Now I would be very happy if I was wrong about that and team(s) are going to bid up a bit here and there are more teams who are all in on Robert presuming he really is a stud and the Sox just wrecked him...fine by me...but not betting on that happening. Feels like Robert is a better hold - have new coaching staff work with him and hopefully we see him have a good 1st half of the year. If he plays really well - than move him. I've always said with Robert - his peak is really strong - so try and trade him when he's on one of those runs vs. not. Is it a risk sure - but it isn't like he's walking next year so I feel like it is worth accepting that risk. -
Nice win! Caleb protected the football and made some big plays. That drive in 2nd half (ended up being ruined by the penalty) was beautiful. He was just dicing up the defense. Swift a second straight good game….penalties got in way during 2nd half though but great progress. 2 300 yard games in first 5 games of career and a very strong 1st half today (200 and 2Tds).

I assume he ends up on Angels. He lives in Orange County.

This would have been an amazing hire - but I see why he went to reds. I’m sure Sox never even tried anyway.

A legend -
Progress…nice to see running game get going a bit more. And a few really nice throws by Caleb and no turnovers. Got to clean up the penalties on offense though.

Chasing Records — 121 losses, modern MLB record

Now the real question is where are they going to set the new bar at. Congrats to the entire organization - you ass clowns deserve it and we as fans are absolutely stuck with it. Hope this is the final straw to drive real changes. -
He looks pretty good - but him being good doesn’t mean Caleb is bad. Caleb has gotten better every week and while there will be some bad weeks, I think we will see continued progress.
-
I’m really excited - I believe that was the most passing yards by a Bears QB in 16 years…by a rookie in his 3rd game. Week 1 - awful Week 2 - better but still not good (solid 1H though) Week 3 - Big time improvements - again more to improve on. This was also I believe the most passing yards by any QB this year. There were a lot of good tight window throws and anticipation throws today. Some head scratchers too but this kid is learning…I’m excited (too bad they didn’t get Saquon). I expect turnovers by him as a rookie - but I want to see wow plays. We started seeing more today but also just a ton of anticipation throws. Even that first down throw on 3rd down of the very first drive…easy throw to Kmet but with such smooth anticipation.
-
360+ yards in game 3…ill take it. Mistakes sure…but third straight week of progress. Can’t say the same for Waldron or Swift but at least they stopped giving all these reps to Homer and Everett like idiots. Caleb had a lot of real good throws today…and clearly some he wants to get back too.
-
Cutting it all aside - would the Cubs have ever made it to where they were without WGN and Harry Carray in specific. I really think that - combined with mistakes on Sox front - is what drove the huge gap.
-
Yeah this actually seems like a good thing.
-
I think the above is very true.
-
But point is - it was pretty bad. I will point out - on the blitz, he wasn't getting the ball out quick to his hot routes. Given he wasn't blitzed a ton in week 1 (Titans interior was generating enough pressure on its own)...I'm not surprised he struggled out of the gate (hence why a lot of teams blitz rookie / young QB's a ton). So Caleb did a pretty good job on the non blitz situations of getting ball out quick...he was not quick when the blitz came...now not all of those pressures were on the blitz either but they got to get better at beating the blitz...but to say it is surprising for a young QB to struggle against the blitz...no...now lets see how he uses the film and experience to grow.
-
It depends - how did they finish the season. If the offense is trending up and looking pretty dynamic and defense is consistently playing well...than I probably stay status quo. If it is more like last year and offense is still a mess, than I think the Bears might go another direction. I hope Caleb takes multiple steps this year and defense can help enough and they end up 10+ wins and good momentum late (even though it is tougher part of the schedule).
-
I just don't like the fact that in key 3rd down's we see Homer and Everett (his former players) on the field a ton. Herbert and Swift are much better players as is Kmet. Don't get cute - get your best players out there and scheme them appropriately. With that in mind - these were 2 good defensive fronts the Bears faced the past 2 weeks, so hopefully those challenges early test them, but don't break them, and Caleb, Waldron, the oline and the whole rest of the offensive unit cause use those challenges early to grow and develop into a better team. It is clear to me that the probability of Bears sending Caleb to a completely new system are real...which just kills me cause its what the Bears do. But I'm going to for now - hope that they can right the ship and 3 weeks from now we are having a very different conversation as we are seeing the arrow continue to trend positively.
-
Terrible performance by oline and also a poor job of offensive coordinator doing anything to slow down the rush or test some good double moves. Caleb was better than the week before and thank goodness he didn’t get hurt. He made progress though - was he good, no, but he grew. I think we are going to see a wow game in the next 1-2 weeks or at least a wow half.

Man sorry about your son’s injury. Hopefully he heals up strong 💪. -
Wtf is this. He is a 3B and no one is pushing him right now (maybe Colson but not yet).

Reinsdorf releases statement to say he'll speak more later

If above was true - there is no way if I were JR I would give Getz a pass. I suspect he always expected to loose 100 plus games but clearly not 120 plus games…but if Getz seriously committed to being .500 or better this year in an interview and this happened than I think even Jerry might just launch him to the moon.
