But point is - it was pretty bad. I will point out - on the blitz, he wasn't getting the ball out quick to his hot routes. Given he wasn't blitzed a ton in week 1 (Titans interior was generating enough pressure on its own)...I'm not surprised he struggled out of the gate (hence why a lot of teams blitz rookie / young QB's a ton). So Caleb did a pretty good job on the non blitz situations of getting ball out quick...he was not quick when the blitz came...now not all of those pressures were on the blitz either but they got to get better at beating the blitz...but to say it is surprising for a young QB to struggle against the blitz...no...now lets see how he uses the film and experience to grow.

It depends - how did they finish the season. If the offense is trending up and looking pretty dynamic and defense is consistently playing well...than I probably stay status quo. If it is more like last year and offense is still a mess, than I think the Bears might go another direction. I hope Caleb takes multiple steps this year and defense can help enough and they end up 10+ wins and good momentum late (even though it is tougher part of the schedule).

I just don't like the fact that in key 3rd down's we see Homer and Everett (his former players) on the field a ton. Herbert and Swift are much better players as is Kmet. Don't get cute - get your best players out there and scheme them appropriately. With that in mind - these were 2 good defensive fronts the Bears faced the past 2 weeks, so hopefully those challenges early test them, but don't break them, and Caleb, Waldron, the oline and the whole rest of the offensive unit cause use those challenges early to grow and develop into a better team. It is clear to me that the probability of Bears sending Caleb to a completely new system are real...which just kills me cause its what the Bears do. But I'm going to for now - hope that they can right the ship and 3 weeks from now we are having a very different conversation as we are seeing the arrow continue to trend positively.

Terrible performance by oline and also a poor job of offensive coordinator doing anything to slow down the rush or test some good double moves. Caleb was better than the week before and thank goodness he didn’t get hurt. He made progress though - was he good, no, but he grew. I think we are going to see a wow game in the next 1-2 weeks or at least a wow half.

Man sorry about your son’s injury. Hopefully he heals up strong 💪. -
Wtf is this. He is a 3B and no one is pushing him right now (maybe Colson but not yet).

Reinsdorf releases statement to say he'll speak more later

If above was true - there is no way if I were JR I would give Getz a pass. I suspect he always expected to loose 100 plus games but clearly not 120 plus games…but if Getz seriously committed to being .500 or better this year in an interview and this happened than I think even Jerry might just launch him to the moon. -

This is what I am struggling with - there has to be something more to this… -
Regarding Caleb. I expected some bumps - like any rookie qb. It was week 1 and given 17 game season and preseason softness I really view week 1 as a throwaway. So now he has 4 games in 4 quarters. I want to see progression each of those 4 quarters but I also want to see a splash half in one of his first 4 games. Even if not a complete game in those first 4, I want to see a half where you see the special show off. Than in the 2nd 4 I want to see a big game, it’s ok if there are some turnovers in it - but a big game. Want to see some elite highs across the board and than improve the floors each quarter of the season.
-
Nice way to battle back. He is a rookie and Titans dline did good. He left some throws out there but I expect him to get better. There was some miscommunication out there and that one dropped td - he also had some other shots for big plays but hey defense really turned it in in the 2nd half and they stayed at it.
-
Alright offense - let’s get to work.
-
They don’t know what to do with all that motion. Although i said all along this defense isn’t that good - dline is weak. It is one game - but what an awful first half so far.
-
Titans offense looks quite good. Very creative.
-
Velus stunk but they had a ton of 3rd and manageable with nothing going and than have given up some 3rd and long. Tney just got really lucky cause Johnson was toast on that play.

We need a new thread for a new season…not the continuation from last season!

Well - Iowas offense still sucks. -
This was how I always thought it worked.
-
They stunk too - thanks for that added nugget. I always assumed they spent time doing both and some specialized in minors and others handled more of the advanced scouting and other big league scouting .

It was their analytics department that was really small. Like really small…not the scouting department. Don’t know if that is big or small but Sox analytics is one that is a few while their marketing department is massive…Sox got it all backwards…have good scouts and analytics and development people and you don’t need a marketing team…your product sells itself!

Their pro scouts were clearly AWFUL. Hate anyone losing their job but they need to clean house here.

Chet Lemon in bad shape from multiple strokes

Thoughts and prayers with Chet and his family -
Until Taylor got hurt - the Taylor pick was looking great. Hopefully he bounces back and ends up being a dude.

In fairness - this was number 3 within this scouts region - not necessarily number 3 on the big board.

The only thing I can think of - and I should caveat that I don't think this is the right way to do it, but I could see in the world of Jerry this making sense...was him looking at it as - if I have someone in house who knows what is wrong and I'm aligned with in that thinking, I'll let him start to make the necessary changes in time and begin making wholesale changes. If I were to bring in an outsdier - before I let him just start with, its all broken, I would essentially force him to watch for 1-2 years to really assess it vs. just throwing everyone else out with that assumption. Hence - in JR's mind - him hiring Getz accelerated his own personal comfort in making more radical wholesale changes than if he brought in a big time front office hire (since by nature he just hand the entire keys of the kingdom over to anyone). Again - I'm not saying its right and there is plenty Getz has done wrong / less good this year. I don't think he has set the franchise back this season (in the sense of any horrific deals and/or just totally stupid lets go buy some talent to get ourselves away) and it seems like what he has planned at least on paper makes sense. Whether he is capable of actually leading it through and getting the right people etc - there is enough that has went wrong thus far this year to materially question it - but he is getting at least 3 years to get the arrow pointed back (especially knowing JR). Only thing accelerating that would be a change in ownership in my opinion (and / or something non baseball related).
