  1. Why are they announcing player for month of July at the end of August? More curious - awesome to see.
  2. His defense has been outstanding and since the break he just looks different at the plate. Still work to do but he has looked like a totally different player the past 8 weeks!
  3. I think on one hand - one could say regarding Kopech the Sox developmental team was aware of the issues - so give credit there. The inverse of that is - the message wasn't being received by the player - so is that the player or is that how the message was being delivered and structure. Now in fairness - I think there is a balancing act of both - because what works for one player may not work for another and vice versa - development is very individualized. And some players just don't listen - given Kopech's past - wouldn't shock me if that is where he was. Regarding Vaughn - could be a bit of that - rock bottom scenario of going to minors and than clean start that just put him in a spot where it took all of that to drive a fresh look and change. Now one question I truly have is - was the jolt to the minors the biggest indicator in which case - would the Sox being a bit more patient and taking that hard / aggressive approach - actually have worked and they could have brought Vaughn up later on this year and see the same results. I think there might be some truth to the fact that the Sox traded Vaughn too early and they should have seen if their tough love approach could have worked - knowing at least with Vaughn they had the ability to keep him around next year had he made this sort of jump where as with Civale he's walking.
  4. Burke is interesting because I could see him being a pretty good high leverage reliever - he has very good stuff. No idea if given his injury history that doesn't work and I certainly am not saying they should move him to the pen - he's a solid starter - but if they ended up with real starting depth - I could see him being very successful out of the pen.
  5. In all honesty - as much as it stinks - most of the young players did well at the plate and the pitchers like Smith did good - other ones who aren’t part of the long haul drove the loss.
  6. I hope somehow Smiths injury ends up being less serious than it looked. Outside of that - very sharp preseason game by Bears. I’d have kept Caleb out for another series or two - but he looked awesome that first series and on 2nd one Rome dropped the first down. Was nice to see him being decisive and accurate with his throws and spread the ball out. Burden just looked like a dude and he had a few real nice blocks which was good to see.
  7. For 2.5 months he was starting on a number of teams. He than had a month slump and now has been banged up. I think you are writing off a dude who looked like a .385+ OBP machine for a decent chunk of the season.
  8. I am more worried about Caleb and Poles than Johnson. Johnson seems to be setting right tone, culture, his push for greatness, focus on details etc. Even the time in press conferences - they are clear in the standards they are setting an unapologetic. Whether stating Caleb isn’t ready or the oline coach making clear Wright isn’t where he needs to be at RT. All of these things I think are various ways to reinforce the message around the standard and how high the standard is. It is so necessary because the bar / standard was just so low relative to what it really takes to excel at the highest level.
  9. I feel like he just hits tanks - they are always bombs when he hits them.
  10. Im now ten episodes in - my words are even stronger - outstanding.
  11. The new king of the hill is outstanding. 3 episodes in - a reboot done right. So much crap out there - judge has still got it!
  12. If Hagens stuff really disappeared that would stink. That is like Fulmer. We all saw how nasty his stuff was in college last year - that type of stuff doesn’t just go away without an injury. He also has a big frame. This has to be a mechanical or health thing and I hope we see whatever it is - he will get over it and we’ll see that elite stuff and see him develop.
  13. Baldwin is going to be a good hitter
  14. I legit think the 9-11 percent window is aligned with when they traded Tatis for Shields.
  15. He is playing like a superstar for the past month. Changing the game in the field, on the base paths and with the bat.
  16. Yes - can always keep the classic - but I’d bring the whole south side thing and brand the hell out of this being the White Sox era.
  17. That is why I think adding a Tucker type and than a year later another player is not unreasonable presuming Ishibia is legit being involved.
  18. I really think a key is a brand new owner and actually landing a star plus another good player or two with free agent money. Sure as s%*# puts a lot less pressure on having to be perfect everywhere else.
  19. In fairness - he is still striking out on like a 30 percent of his at bats which is pretty atrocious. When he hits it - he is destroying it - but that swing and miss is still real. Tools are legit strong - but he’s still got plenty of things he has to work on.
