    2022 Catch All

If you think about it though (and this is coming from someone who coaches my son's pony team, my daughter's softball team, and have coached each of their soccer teams - asking me to ref on top of already making the committment to coach is a ton. Youth sports (at least rec youth sports) is a volunteer organization and everything can't just get stacked onto the coaches who are already committing their time (its a lot of work and in my case - I do it and enjoy it, but than I get back hom and work another few hours after my family goes to sleep to make up for the work hours I lost to get to the weekday game early to get the field set-up, get a good warm-up in with the kids, to attend practices (and getting early to make sure all the stuff is set-up, etc).
  2. If they are going to go old school - go get someone like Scioscia. Who else is out there as a more seasoned guy who you might be able to hire in-season (vs. just going to your bench coach)? Too bad they never hired my guy, Bud Black, whose doing a real nice job early on in Colorado.
  3. I don’t know how they shit the bed this bad. Just awful.
  4. Was coaching a little league game and missed this one (and don’t have heart to watch the replay). What the heck happened?
  5. Probably half of them. But I also fully understand its baseball - teams can look really bad and people go through slumps. Living and breathing on every pitch is just not a healthy way to analyze it, especially given small sample size. Yes - some of those lineups were atrocious but there were years with Ozzie where I think we had Timo hitting clean-up and probably lineups with Erstad & Timo at 3-4. Big deal - if you watch enough baseball, you will see plenty of teams go through spells they look dead, etc. I mean Keuchel stunk - I happened to think he would bounce back (and by bounce back be like a 4.5 type of pitcher this year)...but maybe that doesn't happen. Lambert/VV - both are out once you get your two starters back. I can whine all I want about wanting Rodon back (i was the original Rodon qualifying, constant member of that fan club). But whatever - this team should still win the division and win it handily. It is not a world series favorite (right now) - but the right move at the deadline can change that (although my preference would have been to do more in the off-season using cash and better allocation of resources vs. trade - but whatever). Its baseball - sh*t happens. Now if it were May 31st and we were 10 games under .500 and everyone is out hurt...that is a whole nother story. But its 12 games into the season and 3 days ago we had one of the best records in baseball and now we are .500. Now if you told me we just lost 3 of our best players for the season - than by all means, I would panic away at that point.
  6. Everyone needs to take a chill pill. We are .500 12 games into a season where are two best pitchers are on the DL. It’s freaking early. I get it - they had a bad last 3 games but geeze it’s baseball. This team is still really good. Sit back and enjoy what will be a fun season (even if front office and mgr were dolts in there ability to make a strong team even stronger…which they were).
  7. Yeah. He did well and like you I hoped that 3 would drop.
  8. This - the officiating was awful. But Caruso was nails (other than I needed one of those 3s to fall)…but man that d was so nice. Looked a lot more like the fun Bulls from the first half. And yes - with Vuc in foul trouble they ceded the paint late. Don’t stop now boys!!! Let’s go Bulls!!!
  9. Honestly - it isn't very smart to have inexpensive alcohol. Most people drive to games etc - so better to have reasonable priced food and than have more expensive alcohol. But I'm the wrong person to ask since I very very rarely ever order a beer at a game and if I do - its one.
  10. Better safe than sorry though. You don't want it to be the type of injury that just continues all season.
  11. I agree - I saw some hope, with the exception of Derozan. Part of that was his shooting was bad - but just watch the game closely and look at what the rest of the Bulls do when Derozan gets the ball (especially Lavine). There were mutliple times yesterday where all Derozan had to do was make a quick pass and you had Lavine/Vuc wide open for 3. Not saying either of them would have made the shots. The defense though got better and looked much more like shades of the good Bulls team for this season vs. another.
  12. 2nd straight year - I go from watching nearly every game to almost no games in the 2nd half (I Would start watching games in 2nd half - see all kinds of things that were self inflected and just roll my eyes and shift to something else cause they were such an un-fun watch (it isn't about the W/L - it is about how entertaining the watch is). I will agree ball movement was a bit better - but you just see how when it goes to Derozan there is very little movement. I was glad, as poorly as Vuc shot, that they gave him that many shots. If they are to win this series, they need to get Vuc the touches that he is putting up a lot of shots. If he does that - than the rest of the offense should naturally flow better.
  13. Yeah - that was a really poor charge call - Middleton was really moving and unset. In general though - it all goes back to what I have been saying for 2 months - Derozan went from a very unselfish player to a complete and utter ball hog over the past couple months and it has been a disaster. So much stagnation etc.
  14. I said it five years ago - Ala carte would go crazy and we would all be begging for cable again (at least for sports fans). I don’t need a freaking app for everything. I like one or two places where I can get what I need.
  15. Bears need a lot of weapons on offense. Don’t care how they get it but they need a massive upgrade. Take two and hope one sticks…of Pringle is also very good…great…this team needs some freaking weapons and stat. Than take some more next year again.
  16. If Robert is healthy - he is a legit mvp threat every year, first ballot hof type of guy. Dude is so special.
  17. I love Vaughn. I could trade him, but if I did it’s for an dynamic front line cost controlled player…not Montas.
  18. What are they doing playing these guys in a back to back?
