  3. I want 3 lake homes and 3 mountain villas…haha. You better not of jinxed it…if owners and players lose momentum I officially blame you
  4. Echo this. He is covering this better than MLB network which I am watching non stop hoping to see breaking news pop up tonight…keep the updates coming 2K…sleep is for the weak.
  5. Big news and good sign they can agree on this
  6. Yeah - in general I like more. But I do agree with players - division winners need a strong differentiation. And there is the aspect of that is another few starts a World Series team has to make over course of long season.
  7. Shoot after Covid I don’t even remember how many teams make the playoffs (that is sad). Precovid it was 5 right? 3 division winners with a playoff between the 2 wild card teams? So this is a proposal from 10 all the way up to 14. Pretty big increase. I actually like 12 - very curious how the 14 team format would work. Critical under both scenarios for real benefits to go to better teams but 14 with 162 is too many games. I much prefer 140 or even 120 and 14 teams. But hey what do I care - more than anything I just want baseball.
  8. I can’t imagine they get a deal done with 12 playoffs vs 14. Seems like those extra two teams drive a lot more revenue. 14 does seem like a lot depending on how it is done…maybe more byes for better teams and than very quick mini series for back end teams that make it / or heavy ghost wins.
  9. Oh my god - I used to read Matt Christopher books like every week as a kid. That and the Hardy Boys were literally my two favorite books. I have probably read over 100 Matt Christopher books and now I am ready to go to library and big some up for my son.
  10. This - now we are talking - that is the meatiest concession we have seen in months by the owners.
  11. Those protesters have stones and serious courage.
  12. Falcons like former Bears GM's. They did the same with Emery.
  13. Derozan came up huge again at the end. Such a big shot as time was running out to put the Bulls back in the lead for good (after they kind of choked during the final 3 minutes). Nice win.
  14. Really interesting data set and excellent point.
  15. Thank you - so the equivalent of just over 1% of total revenues. Or if I frame it from the players perspective - you have ~850 active MLB players so if I take that same $135M and assumed it was spread out - just over $150K impact per player.
  16. Out of curiosity - what is total MLB revenues. So we basically have a $126M GAP in CB/PRe-arb Bonus and whatever the impact of the new minimum salary is (not sure how much that is - but I presume not massive in aggregate dollars) and than the 3 picks isn't a lot. So lets just say $135M. How much total revenue are we talking about in all of baseball cause while the overall #'s look large, I got to imagine we are talking about relatively small percentages in grand scheme of things (taking an optimistic view).
  17. That is such a warm and awesome story from Kittle.
  18. That is why I assume the compromise will be -> owners get expanded playoffs, players get paid as if there were 162 games (so no pro-rata nothing in '22).
  19. Players aren't going to give expanded playoffs (this year) without getting paid for 162 games (even if they don't get it). everyone keeps saying if season goes shorter than 162....owners won't do x - but who is to say owners don't just say we will pay you those 12 games so we get the expanded playoffs...which is presumably worth far more than the 12 games (to the owners at least). Seems like a win win and likely bargaining chip used. In long-run I don't envision that holding and presume at that point, you see the season go back to 162 with the extended (and the bigger pool is used for revenue sharing). My example was more around my prediction on how the two sides will ultimately reach a deal that gets them both what they want in '22 and positions it for what they want in '23 and beyond. But if I were players - I would anchor on slightly shorter season with similar to better revenues (anyway) cause why in this day and age should any player sign up for more games if they aren't getting more money (% of pool can be the same - but total $ should increase).
  20. March 15th - I suspect we will see a 150 game season (this year) but players will be paid for 162 games but with expanded playoffs. March 15th agreement - means spring training kicks off about March 22nd-31st (as I figure you need at least 7-14 days for the rest of the off-season to finish and everyone to get reported etc).
