  1. Dunn was lazy - don't want him. But Arci I would be okay with. Shaq Harrison has had some 10 day stuff too - I would prefer him over Dunn (for sure) but reality is arci is best fit right now since they need someone who can handle some back-up PG minutes.
  2. No division stinks like the Al Central over past decade. Haha. One team with winning record over that horizon.
  3. I am glad there was some real action today - hopefully they can both build on this day by day. Could care less which side wins - I just want me some baseball and preferably some spring training too Give me a floor - expanded playoffs - and If it were up to me a shorter regular season.
  4. Does someone want to explain to me why Caruso has already had surgery yet Lonzo Ball isn't set to have surgery until the end of this week. That would seem like his surgery is literally almost 10-14 days after the team announced he would have surgery. Are they waiting for a 2nd opinion or something here? Or is there an extended time to let swelling go down or something. Something seems really odd with the Ball thing (I mean 2 weeks of potential recovery time is huge for this squad).
  5. At least they got a big lead - but man - crazy how they blew it. Thank goodness they held on.
  6. Bulls playing with so much more pace in this 1H with Lavine in. He just changes the tempo on misses with his athleticism. Helps that the ball movement is significantly more crisp and defensively they are actually playing it. Also OKC stinks (not that at this point it says anything and there is a whole nother half of basketball (at this point I dont' know what to expect with this team given how depleted they are).
  7. I am glad Bulls ended up sitting Derozan tonight. Presume nothing more than get the man some rest (as I've posted a few times on here recently). Ayo having a great 1st half.
  8. This is where I differ - with the right head coach, presuming he has the ability to bring in a great staff and has a good plan - I am okay with the HC being defensive oriented in nature, as long as he has the special intangibles at the top. But I clearly still prefer Daboll. Leftwich I am okay with but he doesn't excite me any more or less than someone like Quinn or Bowles.
  9. HC wise - I wonder if they land on Quinn. I do think if it is Brown as the GM - we see Eferus hired, but I think if it is Poles/Khan - Quinn is my guess (as I'm resigned to fact it won't be Daboll/Harbaugh).
  10. The hard part is - Bears have not been fully transparent on the GM's they have interviewed - so we are all speculating that they haven't had 2 convo's but they might have actually had 2 conversations with some of these and it just isn't being reported (hard to believe but quite possible). I agree with you - fact Daboll hasn't probably says enough. It seems like Giants had long identified the two of them and I understand why the Bills GM took the Giants job (closer to his east coast routes + high picks to start completely from scratch). If I were Daboll - I would need to be pretty blown away if I had a really good relationship with former Bills Asst GM to take any other job given how important that "trust" factor is. I keep thinking how McCaskey had a lot of conversations with Rooney family and really think the two of them talked a lot about Kkanh and Rooney knows Khanh not being the person in Pitt but wants him to be that person somewhere else (and in the NFC better than another AFC team) so I still think Omar moving to the Bears is what I would bet on.
  11. Bruce Arians and others would probably counter that point. But I do get it. That said - Caldwell will get good assistants (I believe) and you might find a really really bright offensive mind who he's worked with in the past that could be groomed for the HC role. Desai could be that guy on the defensive side - if they went that way, but he also could just turn the defense to someone like Fangio and than spend a lot of his time on offense. Bringing in someone like Pep Hamilton would be a great start. I think Eberus might be a pretty exciting guy on the defensive side of the ball and would think given some of the stops he has had, he too would have pretty good connections to build a staff. Odd thing is - this hiring cycle I have heard a lot less out of which coach has various "specialists" tied to there names vs. past cycles it seemed more common where you knew X or Y defensive guy had "paired up" with so and so as an OC (or vice versa).
  12. I don't think I've seen anything indicating Bears are hiring a HC first. I'll wait and see how it plays out - but yes - if in fact Polian hand picks the 3 people the GM gets to pick - yeah - that wouldn't be so hot, but I just can't believe (I mean I guess I can - it is the Bears afterall) that after all their past mistakes they would think that is okay. I do think they have now interviewed all of the GM's and either know exactly who they are going to hire or one of 2 / 3 people it would be and likely know who those GM's have on their short list. So they probably have a darn good idea and may also just know that the smart thing to do for those in hot demand that you think are on the short list is get em scheduled (you can always cancel - but if you don't schedule now - you might have a few of them take a gig where they would have otherwise waited). I still go back to - unless the HC they are hiring is on a playoff team - they will have made a decision by the end of this week. I still think GM comes out as soon as tomorrow - although now seems more likely Wed/Thursday.
  13. I was at that game. I don't remember what happened but I thought the squib kick was more of the disaster too, so it was more than just that. But it was bad...thankfully a regular season disaster vs. a playoff disaster. I think a lot of it had to do with going against a rookie Matt Ryan so they just played the whole thing out crazy conservative and got bit. I tried to forgot though
  14. Followed by Harbaugh as HC haha. But yeah - I am good with that duo too - hiring 2 big names from 2 extremely well ran franchises.
  15. Is that old? I know mid way into the year they had some of those view points. I even said - my only interest in Daboll would be if he could actually show he could adjust to the league adjusting to him. Than the 2nd half (or really like final 1/4 of the season), the offense made adjustments and was on fire. That was before the post-season...after they adjusted and showed it and ended up with yet another year of a top 5 unit (under the guy who literally built the offense) - I had saw enough to say - take a swing on this person (unless he has Trestman like leadership qualities). If you miss - I'm fine missing cause it seems like you might be getting someone who is real special from an X's and O's perspective at a critical position and for someone who helped lead one of the bigger QB turnaround we have seen in a while (Allen going from highly inaccurate to accurate).
  16. My dream is that the Bears announced Khan as the VP - and Brown or Poles as the GM. I know a .1% chance of happening - but boy would that excite me.
  17. I really think Fields upside/comp has to be Josh Allen. I'm not saying they are the exact same player, but there are a ton of similarities in the physical tools, etc. I don't typically over-react and my views aren't just because they had 2 great playoff games, but seeing how Daboll built this entire unit around him, etc - I just felt like it was a no brainer to go aggressive at him (and I was in the camp of - if he worked great with the Bills Asst GM - just let that duo do its thing; I've seen far worse get done). I do think Daboll will go to Giants - but I still wonder if there lack of a QB (and a weak draft) somehow gets him to swing to having a bit more interest in Chicago. That is my hope. With that in mind - if the Bears could somehow get a Khan or Brown or Poles and pair them with Daboll - that is as happy as I can get at this point (I will probably be wrong - but whatever). Note: I still would rip it all up and give Harbaugh a big deal
  18. While Frazier is on the outs - I do think there is a decent shot Caldwell is the next head coach; I buy the fact that Caldwell / Eberus are coming highly recommended from Polian and others. The one thing I will say about Caldwell - to do what he did in 4 seasons with the Lions - is pretty impressive. I don't get excited about Caldwell being a home run hire, but 36-28 record with the Lions is pretty impressive. Highest winning percentage of a Lions coach since the 1950's. Overall record of 62-50. It isn't the move I would make - but I also don't think it is a disaster hire.
  19. Today is the big day at Halas Hall with Khan and Brown both interviewing. In my opinion the two heavy favorites for the job knowing that Rick Smith evidently didn't interview/maybe wasn't ready yet in reality to get back into the game. My gut is this might actually be the 2nd round and we don't even know. A lot of secrecy / mixed reports had been out there on this due (had they already interviewed or not). Clearly Ryan Poles is the other name on the short list of names. In terms of the reports on coaching favorites - if there is any truth to them it is crazy - cause it is the GM job, but right now I think as we saw with the Pace stuff - outside of DaBearsBlog - almost no one has been very accurate reporting the Bears. And the blog hasn't been perfect - just better than most. DaBearsBlog did post that Frazier is not a finalist. Again - I don't want him as a finalist either - but the whole there are finalist when no GM has been hired is crazy anyway. However, it could be more of Polian's view of the better candidates - which would be fair - but still - GM has to get its person if they are going with this power structure. I did read something that Polian was the man who consoled Bills ownership into the front office / HC they hired and put into place, so maybe that is a good sign.
  20. Evidently Lavine and Green coming back tonight.
  21. Unbelievable weekend - but man - why were the Bills not putting pressure at end of regulation. Either way incredible. Feel terrible for Bills for losing. Oh and I will continue to say - give me some Dabol.
  22. They are in a bad place right now - especially with Ayo being off the past couple games. They basically have 2 people scoring (White and Derozan). Vuc is clearly not a LT part and they need to package him for others but the depth is just so thin. They need Lavine back but also have to be careful. Right when it was getting back with Caruso coming back and than more to come we went right back to non-existent depth. Hopefully this was the last of the major injuries and we get back to getting guys healthy and start chunking together a stretch with more wins than losses. I still say I would give Derozan some extra rest - basically throw one more game - than be ready when Zach comes back.
  23. I am not going to lie - I was googling Niko a week ago. He would be such a good fit for this team - especially with how his D came around. That said I don’t think he ever liked being in the US.
  24. Shit - I thought he was out 6-8 weeks…dude doesn’t get evaluated for 6-8 weeks. 11 weeks from now is when playoffs start. This has a shot at being a season ended. 2 flagrant fouls - 2 broken wrists - bulls need an enforcer on their bench. I was upset that no one got in Allen’s face right after the foul.
