  1. It should be the best period of young talent, considering they turned almost every decent player they had into prospects. And but for a two spells of FO delusion, you could add Tatis, Semien, Phegley, Semien and Bassitt, all of whom would be on the major league roster. Then you would also have to subtract Burdi.
  2. The pitchers I liked went bye bye in the comp round.
  3. Sox should be able to get a good college pitcher in round 3 like Campbell or Marsh.
  4. The guy they picked in the 3rd last season had a deterioration in his velocity as well.
  5. I had a feeling the Sox would take a prep pitcher in round 2. they really could use the upside.
  6. Sign me up, but are there signability issues? Thanks for the list. These competitive balance picks piss me off.
  7. Well, who else are you looking at?
  8. He's got a sweet swing (Bleday doesn't). I presume the bat speed and all off that are up to spiff. Same risk of a 1B that exists with a corner OF. If you don't hit, you aren't going to make it.
  9. Presuming this is the Cubs' pick, I had my eye on him for round 2.
  10. Except that one could move to 2nd.....
  11. Hostetler's comments are ridiculous.
  12. Sox made the right pick. If not Vaughn, I'd have gone a lot lower for some under-slot action.
  13. But he may not. Let him do that first then he's a top 5. At this point, with the attendant risk, no.... As for saving money, I'm all for it (draft Bishop, e.g.), if they use it wisely. But last time they did that, they got Burger for under slot and used it for Sheets who had little leverage anyway.
  14. He should have kept Narvaez and signed McCann. If he had done his work on FAs seriously instead of Santana, Alonso, and Jay, the Sox might actually be a contender for that last WC spot. The Alonso trade looks like the classic lose/lose. The Sox got a bad player (as expected); but the salary relief induced the Indians to delay their retooling, apparently for naught.
  15. I can see the qualms: undersized RH hitter who can only play 1st or DH has its attendant risks as a top 5 pick. Ideally, I'd like to see the Sox draft someone like Bishop, sign him for under slot, and use the savings to get premium prep in rounds 2-5 and/or thereafter. I doubt they'd do that, so Abrams (preferred) or Vaughn would be fine. No Bleday.
  16. If the Astros were interested in Abreu, that would a be a good break for us. Houston has so many prospects and so many that are blocked that they are usually willing to trade some pretty good ones.
  17. If it's legitimate interest, they probably should pull the trigger. Big IF though. But they can replace Colome. And what we're seeing out of Colome might not have much more staying power anyway. It's not about a perpetual rebuild. It's about making a real contender, instead of some faux 78 win team.
  18. He's one of those guys who ideally would be moved, but his value is probably higher to the Sox than other teams are willing to pay. In pure throw-away seasons, he would be moved anyway. But this year he'll probably stay.
