  1. I like this ump - tight, but accurate, strike zone.
  2. I'd rather Engel out there, Leury in right and Alonso on the bench, where he can be great in he clubhouse and mentor young players.....
  3. Not even close on any of those 4 pitches.
  4. To make room for Yonder Alonso. Gotta have those great vets!
  5. Those are the top prospect guys who need to develop. But they also need some of the non-top prospect young guys to develop...it's high for a "diamond in the rough" or three.
  6. To say "message board posters didn't know either"..... Good gracious, is that the standard of a major league GM? Evaluate talent no worse than a message board poster? Hahn's list of compete mis-evalutations of talent is long, and goes far beyond Shields and Tatis. His severe limitations as GM are a major anchor on this organization.
  7. Hahn can make up for it by grabbing a diamond in the rough and having them turn into a stud. He makes enough trades for that to happen; trading for older prospects and Rule 5 guys like he does makes it less likely to happen, but those guys blossom sometimes too. Let's see Rodon and Leury turn into everyday ballplayers. As for the Tatis trade; trading for Shields is virtually indefensible. There is some element of "he just blew up after we traded him" excuse for trading Tatis; but he was a good prospect and not worth the risk considering who he was traded for.
  8. I'm glad they didn't trade for Peterson. Rick Hahn is ramping up the excuses at an even higher level than usual....I hope this means that there is some pressure on him.
  9. They need a CF - hand Jay over to them.
  10. Were these pitchers prospects? I had never heard of them. Top of the 9th was silly as well- 2nd and 3rd no outs and no runs. But I assume non-roster guys were participating.
  11. If he's good at 3rd, it makes sense. Because we have zero in the pipeline at 3rd.
  12. A rebuilding team needs young players to call up.
  13. Beyond the magic wall are 2 Padres, 2 Royals, a cub, several others, and no Sox.
  14. I hope you're right....and that if they end up expending Yolmer they finally get something, at least some ceiling, for one of these guys. Dopico looked good. Relief pitchers can come from anywhere.
  15. There is no objective reason why this rebuild should take as long as the Astros/Cubs, much less longer. Nothing but excuses.
  16. They did well with the extensions, but never this early. And their talent evaluation hasn't exactly been sharp the last few years. But given that we're stuck with this front office in perpetuity, I guess why not.
  17. We don't have a consensus solution at any position except 1B and that's for this year only with Abreu...is there another player on this roster who you can comfortably say is above average? That's not to say several won't become that, but right now, they aren't.
  18. Yes, we'll do better than 62 wins for the foreseeable future. So we've hit bottom in the single season sense. Have we hit bottom in the consecutive losing season sense? Don't see a light at the end of that tunnel. But some better pitching would help.
  19. Fine. A lot can happen 2.5 years. They consistently mis-evaluate these veterans...I wonder how much work on the analytics and film they do prior to acquisition.
  20. Exactly.....4 years ago. Never a K guy either.
