Until that. I like Delmonico - good batting eye. -

Alonso... How about giving him a day off. -

Hopefully his command looks like Q's we'll have something. Fortunate call on that last pitch. -
Bring Back Gio pt Deux?Update: Signed by Brewcrew
GreenSox replied to bmags's topic in The Diamond Club
He was available all winter, they've had him before, and didn't make a move. I suspect he's not a Cooper guy. -
The Sox basically need everything to go right from this point forward, since they've squandered so much already and the future is heavily dependent on consistent quality drafting, international signings and development.
-
As I predicted...get him away from Cooper and his pitchers and that's what happens. I hated that trade from the outset: a young catcher improving significantly with the bat and who showed excellent plate patience for a fungible closer. The quality orgs stockpile hitters like that - Rick Hahn can't wait to get of them.
-
Burdi was just a ridiculous pick on several levels. Specifically, though was picked to be rushed into the 2016 bullpen....the same thinking that brought in James Shields, and rushed up Fulmer and Anderson. Ahh the resources Hahn wasted trying to save 2016, which had no chance to be saved.

4/19 White Sox @ Tigers | 6:10 PM CT | Rodon v Zimmerman

Seems reasonable. I measure Astros/Cubs from when Luhnow/Theo took over. Astros had done some disbursing prior to Luhnow, though. I think the Cubs were pretty much trying to win, but just sucking anyway. -
I'm a Tulane season ticket holder (the "Green" in my name) and go to about 1/2 the games and Hoese is sensational. I will caution this though. Tulane's schedule this season is unusually weak (usually play LSU twice, e.g. - not this season) and we have faced some really bad pitching. We start playing the better conference teams beginning next week, and that will provide more insight. Bad pitching or not, he can rake...but whether he can hit at FRD level, we'll see.

What is a timeline for measuring the success of a rebuild? Rebuilds are fluid. Some take 10 years. Personally I would measure it on the Astros-Cubs timeline: 3 years, and this is year 3. Astros/Cubs had some luck, and the Sox had a jumpstart. 3 years falls in between the Royals/Pirates timeline (a decade - of course they were just sucking more than rebuilding during that time) or the Brewers/Rays (2 years). -
Another org minor leaguer who is doing well is Evan Marshall, Counselor at Law. He had a great spring and it's continuing through Charlotte. He's spit the bit his 2 brief turns through the majors. But it looks like it will be a steady train back and forth from Charlotte with relief pitchers. My man Mercedes continues to rake for Birmingham. If he can hit like this (big IF, I know), it's not like the Sox are stacked at DH.

Fulmer was the year before. Substitute Burdi for Fulmer for the June 2016 dog and pony show. -

Right - and if you won't do it with a 4 run lead against the woeful Royals... -

Nova pitching like his stats from last year suggested he should. Bullpen all messed up... Ricky needlessly pitching Colome for the third day in a row on Tuesday didn't help. -
Cordell has 1 walk in 30 at bats and has struck out 1/3 of the time. I know his BA is high, but is that sustainable in the majors? AAA has a ton of AAAA pitching. Tilson, Delmonico and Mendick (no spot for him) show some plate discipline. They might as well send down Engel too, unless he's out of options. His bat is insufficient for even a 5th OF at this point. He was rushed, but nothing they can do about that now. Then again, aside from Leury, he's it for CF.
-
The Indians and their starting pitching. ... good enough to be better than the good lineups and medicore pitching of the As, Twins and Mariners. But if that pitching falters... The NL looks decidedly stronger this year.
-
I know he's older and on-paper perhaps an org guy, but ....Yermin Mercedes. He can hit.
-
The Sox are certainly better than the Marlins, Orioles, Royals and Tigers. If they can pitch, they may be better than 1/2 dozen others. I would suggest Delmonico as a replacement for Palka. He can and does take pitches and walks.

Anyone else want to claim Swihart / DFA Castillo
GreenSox replied to bmags's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Of course control matters and McCann is on a 1 year contract. If there's a crowd they can make a trade. Meanwhile Swihart could play OF. They wouldn't claim Swihart in hopes that he replicates what he did in Boston....they would claim him thinking they could improve him. And he was well-regarded at one point, so perhaps he can be fixed. -
With 3 OFs raking in AAA needing an audition, is there a need for Jay at all?
-
Or they are just trying to analyze a prospect and look at strengths and weaknesses. Speaking for myself, I neither disliked him as a #4 pick nor as a prospect.

Certainly true. Considering he's been on the 25 with a contending team for a contending team for so long, I would have expected some good numbers somewhere....He does walk some. Adam Dunn, without the power. That's all I've got. The only risk in grabbing him that I can see is the lost opportunity cost should Wellington pull it together, have a good year and become moveable in July. -

Swihart has a few years of control, but he doesn't look close to decent. Maybe change of scenery would help..maybe. -
I'd like to see a few more walks out of Madrigal...he can probably slap-hit anything through an A ball hole, but those holes won't exist in higher classifications. Needs to wait for driveable pitches.

That's what I did and nothing comes up. But when I scroll it, after 30 comes 42 so there's some missing info. Like I said, I take your word for it and stand corrected.
