  1. Well the Sox could and certainly should top any of those offers.
  2. You're right. Machado alone won't turn this bunch into a winner. It will revolve around development and talent evaluation. And given the history in that regard, the org. could really use the jump start of Machado. Plus, there is no one in the pipeline at 3B.
  3. Fair enough although I could add a few bars to that song. And Byrnes was the GM who sent Rizzo to the Cubs.
  4. No way could Rick Hahn be outfoxed or out GMed by Preller.
  5. Rankers tend to give high draft picks the benefit of the doubt for a season or 2. Our top guys are very good, as they should be...we gave up a lot to acquire them. But the ongoing absence of draft picks is troubling and gives me pause as to whether this pipeline will be continually replenished.
  6. The $250 rumor struck me as solid (as far as rumors go) so it would make sense that a Yankees $220 wouldn't beat a Sox $250. But it's kind of cutting it close.
  7. I don't want to envision it - I want to see it!
  8. Great player. Entertaining player. I'll miss him around MLB. May he rest in peace.
  9. Just not interested in losing any good prospects for a 2 year player when one of those years is a throw-away year.
  10. Based on rankings it's probably light. But a good GM and his team are much better talent evaluators than the rankings, so we'll see what Jeter's got. Who's going to the the best prospects 6 months or a year from now? And avoid the stunted ones.
  11. "Literally" because he's ineffective and is not helping his team when he is...that is why
  12. A couple of those are fine, but "3 batter minimum for pitchers" is idiotic. It's will last as long as pitchers start faking injuries.
  13. He's been terrible for the last 2 years...but I know, when he gets to Ricky's clubhouse, he'll turn it around...they all do. No harm in signing him, but I hope they don't consider this something serious. I still don't see anyone who can play CF other than Engel and Leury, who can also play IF. Leury has utility value - don't diminish it.
  14. What exactly is an injured FORMER top 75 Prospect worth? Certainly not Gonzalez.
  15. Ricketts would probably go to the City Council and ask that the taxpayers pick up the luxury tax.
  16. You never know how power shakes out. Alex Bregman had 21 homers in 3 years in college...he hit 31 for the Astros last year. Give Madrgial a chance. The last thing they need to do is trade him for some short term player.
  17. Well that's partially true: if we don't outbid the Padres we won't get him. On the other hand, I doubt that outbidding the Padres assures that he signs with us.
  18. I think the Sox and every team in baseball are in agreement on Adams...if the Sox thought he could challenge for a spot in the rotation, they would have protected him; and if some other team thought so, they would have taken him.
  19. Well I did say injuries would be a concern. Regardless, the man has multiple pitches and should be a really versatile, cost controlled guy in the pen. And Eovaldi had TJ x2.
  20. For what purpose? The 40 man is replete with relievers. On the subject, I'd consider starting Jace, although I suppose injuries and workload could be a concern.
  21. Tomorrow as in Wednesday? Or is today now tomorrow?
  22. He's an org guy...nothing there to fix. Don't know why we traded for an org guy either or why he's kept on the 40.
  23. I can't imagine how the could convince anyone to trade for Longoria.
  24. Plenty Just usually not the ones the crowd likes. And at this point my default position on trades for veterans is usually against, due to the dismal track record of those trades under this FO.
