  1. QUOTE (flavum @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 12:15 PM) Bregman, younger and more years of control- and extremely talented. But I like the way the Sox match up with LA better for a monster haul. I like the way we match up with the Dodgers farm and perhaps their secondary needs for a monster haul. But the Astros front office is a much better match up with the Sox.
  2. QUOTE (Carpe Diem @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 11:51 AM) Apparently Bregman and Springer are being dangled (not together) but the team still would ideally prefer trading him to the NL. Want Bregman Don't want Springer. Springer with his tools and high Ks is probably a KW guy...Stay out of it, KW.
  3. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 07:29 AM) I think it'll be Sale, Frazier, Melky, and Jennings. Maybe Robertson but they might just see if he can dominate the first couple months before trading him. Edit: I keep forgetting about Gonzalez. If a team needs a back end starter hes there. If Jones has another good year, they should be able to squeeze a real premium out of him in July.
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 22, 2016 -> 11:33 PM) Petricka's coming off an injury as well, so you can probably cross him off the list. In terms of the minor leagues, a couple of guys who might thrive in that role would be Jordan Stephens and Spencer Adams. Hansen's another name to watch, as well. Petricka should be able to throw multiple innings (based on performance before surgery). Trouble is that he's a last man in the bullpen quality pitcher, so it doesn't help. And really, regular multiple inning outings doesn't make a lot of sense in the regular season. It reduces the ability to use them when really needed - high leverage.
  5. Sale will return more than Q. Q not viewed as an ace. Q would work much better in a retool or rebuild. Keep Q and trade Sale.
  6. He was special enough for the braintrust to protect on the 40 man. Can they protect another player now?
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 19, 2016 -> 02:03 PM) He is going to get 1 chance to cash in on the FA market in his career. You want him back you're going to have to pay for him. If you want him to stay past this season you'd have to pay for him.
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 19, 2016 -> 06:38 PM) And likely a large amount of spending after 2018...especially if you don't crush the Sale trade. Well, I am confident in saying that if the Sox don't crush the Sale trade then it will be a major failure. But for the long haul, they have to do a better job drafting, signing international players, and development.
  9. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 19, 2016 -> 02:34 PM) If true, this proves they're planning a half-ass rebuild. We should be open to moving anyone other than Rodon & Anderson if the right price is met. True, although I would call it a major retooling. If done right, it could work (big if). Not being willing to move Jones seems really silly.
  10. QUOTE (Carpe Diem @ Nov 19, 2016 -> 09:30 AM) Adam Eaton would get more in a trade than Chris Sale. Fact. 5 years $38 million for a 6 WAR player? And you are talking about Vlad Jr. wowowowowowow These discussions are beyond silly, not to mention it is extremely frightening there are so many ignorant White Sox fans. Eaton would have a 3-4 WAR value on the trade market. If he threw up that 6 WAR playing CF and did it for successive years then he would have closer to 6 WAR market value.
  11. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 18, 2016 -> 10:15 AM) Not sure why Toronto would empty their already mediocre system for a guy like Eaton when they could just sign Fowler and give up 1 pick. Eaton is a better player and a lot cheaper salary-wise.
  12. They have a lot of the same type of these AAA/AAAA relievers on the 40 man. Seems they could have squeezed in Delmonico. Purke, Blake Smith Soto....all LH AAA relievers kind of like Lamb. What about Avi? Isn't he hitting arb? sox keeping him around? I guess they just as soon do so if they rebuild.
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 10:16 AM) Yes, but would you really care? The chances of these guys being impact players is beyond small. They won't get you anything in a trade, and are easy to replace with something similar, especially if they are rebuilding. A team that spent $3 million on Bonifacio should make the effort to protect a utility infielder.
  14. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 08:06 AM) Tomorrow (Friday) is the deadline for teams to add players to their 40-man rosters in order to protect them from the Rule 5 Draft. Here's a look at who is currently exposed that may need protection, and who is already on-roster that could go. What the Sox do Friday could perhaps be an indicator of direction for the offseason. Thanks for the analysis. For sure Delmonico, May and Engel need to be protected. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 18, 2016 -> 12:56 PM) Pisses me off that we traded that kid for Tommy Kahnle He was a legit, although low minors, pitching prospect. Traded him for another cooper fix 'em project.
  15. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 18, 2016 -> 07:57 AM) please. which way is the wind blowing today Superior GM? (here comes the response when he calls me and everyone else hahn supporters and blah blah hero worshipping) Everyone has an opinion, bothersome to you as it appears to be. As for wind blowing, I've been consistent- Sox need young talent. There are a lot of ways to get there. if that is now Hahn's approach, I think he'll do a decent job if it.
  16. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 18, 2016 -> 07:45 AM) Aren't you the one that was advocating selling everyone including the hero Adam Eaton months ago? Nope. I advocated trading Eaton last winter to fill 2 holes. That's still a possible approach. I've never favored the Hahn proven veteran approach, however. So if the choice is Hahn ball or tear down I would favor complete tear down, because Hahn ball is a failure. Bregman is my favorite of all of these top prospect already in the majors possible, although unlikely, targets.
  17. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 18, 2016 -> 07:24 AM) Sooo assuming Springer and Reddick hold down the corners and McCann and Gattis share DH and Gurriel being paid to likely play third with other options able to play 1B, where does Bregman fit? They should really step on the necks of the AL West and trade for Sale. I doubt it. But it sure would be nice. If the Sox could score Bergman, I'd move Frazier and hold there. Push Melky and Robertson and Jones in July. But I'm an advocate of the partial tear down.
  18. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 18, 2016 -> 06:52 AM) This a joke? Obviously - the first part anyway.
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 05:01 PM) Hero worshipping. He's elite. Pricey for a platoon hitter but the Astros are almost there.
  20. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 09:43 PM) How is everyone seeing "Swanson and Maitan should be starting points" and somehow ignoring Dansby Swanson's name? He's a GREAT starting point in his own right. So why not take a generational talent along with him, even if he's 4 or 5 years away? You don't want the Braves top prospect because he's too young? The fact that he's so young and thought of so highly should tell you enough. I wouldn't want Maitan is the ONLY centerpiece of the deal, but you're still getting Dansby friggin Swanson. Sounds good to me. I haven't seen any realistic proposals with 2 Swansons, which seems to be the objection here.
  21. QUOTE (QuickJones81 @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 08:23 PM) Sorry, I know it's not a popular opinion, but I'm just not a fan of Inciarte. I think he is one of those guys that the metrics love but just isn't actually worth what the imperfect metrics say. If we're dealing with Atlanta I want Swanson, Maitan, and some pitching. Not really interested in Inciarte. He's not a good hitter. He's a throw in like a Swithart on the RedSox side.
  22. This should be Hahn's show anyway. Don't need williams' toolsy players
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 13, 2016 -> 06:10 PM) George Ofman16 mins · TwitterHearing Whitesox attempt to trade David Robertson not going very well. Plenty of time, though. No kidding - he's injured and the time to trade relievers is in July....just hold him and, dare I suggest, actually participate in the July trade season this time instead of living in dreamland.
