Sox retooling for a year or 2 will work out well. Indians spending their prospects, Royals flaming out, and Detroit aging. Twins are the Twins. So will be ready to pounce in 18 or 19. As for the RedSox, it's a good investment for them to make. Bogaerts, Betts and Bradley are 3 top young hitters.....they need to back them up with pitching. Sale would fit right in their window. Another advantage of the Miller trade is that Robertson pretty much is the best closer on the market.

Profar has a ton of talent but I believe he sustained a bad injury a few years ago and he still isn't what you would call a great bat. And the 3 years of control is significant. the Sox are going to do a quick rebuild (thus the desire for prospects close to he majors) so that leaves the Sox with 1 or 2 years of control when contending. Not enough. And then there's Gallo.... If you want lower level prospects with great potential, Texas is the team. But for Sale, don't see it. Good news with the Indians getting Miller. Puts more pressure on Boston and takes one of the best arms off of the market.

They don't need fiery- that can wear thin quickly. Lack of fire isn't Ventura's problem. Bring in an experienced professional who knows the game, who can teach, and who can evaluate talent.

Just from what I gather reading the rumors and such, Hahn wants major league players off of contenders rosters for Sale. That's just not realistic - the Rangers can't give up Mazara, e.g.. And then the reports that they are specifically looking at catchers...that suggests hole plugging. All in all I suspect he has no intention of blowing this up. And I suppose if he did sell-off, that would admit failure and that could be the end for him. BTW, the Rangers have a ton of great prospect....just very few that are ML ready and not on the big league team. Boston and the Dodgers showed tonight that they need another starter.

Twins announcers described Navarro as one of the best pitch framer in the league.

Yep, they probably will. A front office that can't come close to .500 while "all in" probably doesn't have the chops to grab value when its available. It's becoming apparent that Hahn is to general managing what Ventura is to managing.
