Oh heck, just trade away every young player. Saladino is on the next train out of town, then any prospect other than Fulmer and Anderson. Bring in all of those Brewers and Rockies. We can watch home run derby in July. Ventura and Cooper will be on cloud nine with all of the proven veterans and no youth to hassle with. And in a year, there will be a dispersal sale. It didn't have to be this way.

Top 30 International Prospects; July 2nd 2016
GreenSox replied to Y2Jimmy0's topic in FutureSox Board
I guess now we see why Williams and Hahn refuse to go all in in the international market. -
They'll make more trades. Saladino is probably up next. He looks like a good young player, but that's not good enough reason for Hahn to keep him. They've penciled in Anderson (who could very well turn out like the last Anderson Williams prematurely penciled in). Then any prospect not named Fulmer or Anderson is fair game. And even if it doesn't work out, Ventura and Cooper won't have many immature young players to deal with, so they'll be comfy in Robin's holiday camp.

6/4 - White Sox @ Tigers Game Thread
GreenSox replied to ChiSoxFanMike's topic in 2016 Season in Review
Let's not forget, Hahn is the genius, who, for some inexplicable reason called in a professional front office - Andrew Friedman and the Dodgers - to get Frazier. Dealing with bad GM like Jockety was a fair fight. But he brings in a top shelf negotiator. -
E Johnson is major league pitcher, albeit one Cooper didn't like (and it's Cooper's world). Tatis is/was the best young international player org I see why the Sox aren't going all in on international players, unlike winning organizations...they don't value them. Meanwhile Williams and Hahn continue to employ Ventura and Cooper.

Tulane's Jake Rogers is the best defensive catcher in the draft. Should be there in 3rd. Oh, and he just ripped a 2 run jack in the 9th to eliminate Ole Miss from its regional. to you Jake
-
Oooh, James Shields. He was good 3 years ago. He's a difference maker! I am sure this front office with their talent evaluators weren't dissuaded in the least with Shields' ongoing decline and horrific last out (when facing and AL team). Williams was dominated by other front offices when he made trades, and Hahn is just as inept, if not worse.

QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jun 3, 2016 -> 04:02 PM) A good reliever, a good catcher with 1.5 years of control and Ryan Braun in an "elite core"? lolz. When you want to clean out the farm (w/ the requisite Anderson hold-back,of course ) for 3 players, I assume the author must think these fine Brewers are good enough to launch the Sox into the WS at least. QUOTE (Special K @ Jun 3, 2016 -> 02:26 PM) We also know the White Sox organization simply cannot develop a top tier bat. That is also a fact. We do know the Sox can develop pitching. But if we were to do this trade, knowing our luck he'd probably turn into another Gio. Tryace would fit pretty well on this team. Top tier pitching....Sale. But he wasn't exactly "developed" with less than 20 minor league innings and a JC pitcher Q sort of, but he only spent 48 innings in the minors, so I don't know how much development they've done. Rodon a mature college pitcher picked at #3 was rushed and is no better than average. But that's about it...no 4-10th round picks have made much of an impact, e.g. The pitching prospects aren't even helping in the pen. No hitters drafted at #3; overall not enough difference for me to conclude that the Sox are great at one and terrible at the other.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 3, 2016 -> 10:08 PM) Kahnle was a wild card. Cooper hasn't even had a lot of time around him. With that said, the Sox would really benefit from Cooper or Stevetson turning nothing into something to help the talent level on the roster. Cooper is Williams'main man and is consulted on these pick ups and he hasn't fixed a thing in ages. He had Kahnle all spring. Hahn gave up an interesting prospect for him, too. And Cooper didn't get off of his duff to go talk to him either. I wish they would give Steverson someone new from Charlotte to work with.
-
Zeros all around. Ventura/Cooper did their usual dog and pony show - leave the struggling pitcher in the game until he pitches the Sox out of the game. Cooper/Hahn for bringing this guy up. Another sorry bit of talent evaluation from Hahn and his scouts on this guy Kahnle. And Cooper, once gain, didn't fix him.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 2, 2016 -> 07:11 PM) 7 for 3 trade with the Brewers, with Sox taking on all money. Who says no (other than GreenSox)? Any one with any sense of actually building a winning organization that can contend year after year. But people who admire what the Padres did last season would welcome this type of proposal. I just wonder why the Brewers are rebuilding when they have such an elite core like that.

Addison Reed skipped AAA MB, a 30ish round choice, skipped AAA. Leave Delmonico in AAA the rest of the year and move Cooper up a level (of course you risk the Dash not winning another game if you do that).
-
In over 700 at bats, Jason Bourgeois has never hit a lick in the majors. He's been awful. But he has a key trait that this front office highly values, and which the others don't have: he's 34 and has played in 7 major league seasons.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 2, 2016 -> 03:08 PM) I understand how people would think Coats is a better fit than Sands, and he may be. But it isn't obvious. .366/.411/.522, Avi Garcia's splits in AAA. It hasn't translated to a lot of success. And he did this as a 22-23 year old. Nothing to lose by giving it a try.

The love of mediocre declining veterans is endless. But I have little doubt that ace evaluator Williams will grant all wishes.

QUOTE (Deadpool @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 09:39 AM) Center field. The bat is what excites about Profar. 23 year old potential centerfielder and a potential upgrade over Rollins/Saladino. I'm just throwing it out there for discussion. Let's see what Saladino does. He could change a lot of the Sox thinking re what to do with the young players.

QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 03:10 AM) 4. Colorado Rockies trade Carlos Gonzalez and Ryan McMahon for Avisail Garcia, Carson Fulmer, Adam Engel, and Tyler Danish. See the link below for the other trades as well as why they think the trade makes too much sense. (Not sure if it was thread worthy) http://www.yardbarker.com/mobile/content/a..._12680_21012697 Pass

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 09:03 AM) Profar is reportedly becoming capable of playing LF/CF, but for now is primarily an infielder (more value to the Rangers, more trade value in general). Well, he was called up really young and couldn't it. 3 years and 20 at bats later, he's doing well. I don't know what to make of that. the other factor is that he's a free agent in 3.5 years. It's not like he's a young guy you can develop and control for 6. Most of all, I don't see the point. Sox are fine in the middle infield; yea he can play OF, but will his bat fit there?
-
Sure, if the Sox are below .500.

Saladino could be getting more time at SS

QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 08:22 AM) Saladino hasn't proven anything. Before the last 3 games he was a negative fWAR player and had a whopping .571 OPS. More than 50 points less than Rollins on the season. He didn't all the sudden become a good Major Leaguer because he had 3 straight good games. He's also superior defensively, and he's also young so always could improve (v. 37 and in rapid decline). And Rollins' numbers while better at the time, were still terrible. This veteran/patchwork/band-aid mindset is one of the reasons why there are 2 playoffs in 16 seasons. -
Where is sox weakness at SS or 2b?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 31, 2016 -> 10:17 PM) I'm not saying I'm in favor of benching Lawrie, he can actually dial it up and hit really good FB's unlike some of our other bottom of the order hitters. If Ventura's made up his mind before tonight's game that Rollins will play and he already announced it publicly, don't see him going back on that. Could have just as easily said you DH Frazier and play Saladino at 3B but we're in an NL park and definitely need the threat of Todd's power bat in the middle of the line-up. Same thing with sitting Frazier, not when he's leading MLB in homers and Abreu's continuing his disappearing power act. You could also play Tyler in LF, move Eaton to CF (or use Shuck there) and Melky back in RF. Or, instead of all of these contrivances, just play Saladino at Short. not only should Saladino play, Rollins should NOT play, considering that matchup. I don't get the pressing need to play Rollins. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 31, 2016 -> 09:16 PM) How do you not at least have Saladino playing 2B tmrw? Talk about shooting yourself in the foot. Lawrie has done nothing to deserve getting benched. And Rollins has done nothing to suggest he should start. Maybe Rollins will start moping if he doesn't play...but if he mopes, he goes. Right now, he's still useful as a bat against lefties. -
They're both pitching capably as #5s leave them alone and forget Shields.
-
I like how Lawrie handled that bad call at 2nd; didn't even look at the ump, just signaled the dugout to get on the phone.
