QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 05:19 PM) Scully is boring as sin. Someone needs to take him out to pasture. I agree. I think Hawk will be better with the smaller doses this season.

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 06:25 PM) Lest it be forgotten, why the f*** was Duke pitching to Valencia? Your daily RV brain fart. Could have cost them on another day. And yea, Albers is ready for high leverage. He's getting high leverage. That was high leverage today.

I like what I've seen of Lawrie..he has some spunk. Not just a happy clown show with him. S/B quality addition to clubhouse.

Looking for big things out of the Knights. Hoping for big things out of the Barons. Don't know what to think about the Dash or Intimidators.
-
Very nice start. Saladino is a major league player (even though he isn't 30+). Hopefully the pen stays solid enough that Ventura can regularly pull Latos and Danks after 6 and hand it over to the pen. It will help both and the team.

I just hope they work the draft and the budget well, with under slot guys in order to maximize the quantity of top talent. And please no college relievers in the first 10 rounds.

If Jones is purportedly The guy who can get the big strike out and get out of jams, then the seventh or the eighth is the right place for him. The back up closer just needs to be in the pitcher most likely to not give up a run starting off with a clean inning. I'm not sure that's Jones. We don't even know if Jones is going to be effective yet. He hasn't had that much pitching since his injury to tell

Jays, Tribe, Astros...WC = Mariners , Whitesox (87 wins) Nats, Pirates, Dodgers...WC Cubs, Giants Jays beat Pirates in WS

Unless gray is out for every game of the series how in the world is this a break? In fact this guarantees that we won't have a pitching edge in one of the games wheras we probably would have had the better starter in all four games otherwise. The season is longer than opening day

No risk I suppose, but I doubt he pitches on the ML team. REally hope to see EJ get his velocity squared away.

Will Robin Ventura be the manager of the White Sox on September 1st? Yes How many wins will the Sox have when they return from Detroit on June 5th? 58 games scheduled through that date (33 on the road). 31 More games started- Navarro or Avila? Avila Carson Fulmer debut date and role? July- bullpen Tim Anderson debut date? September - SS is a strength on this team White Sox All-Stars? Abreu, Sale I suppose. Don't care about All Star game except ensuring that no Sox hitter participates in that farce called Home Run Derby. Mat Latos starts? 21 Number of team home runs (136 last year) 171 Runs Scored/Runs Against (622/701 last year) Too micro for me to guess Dealers choice--any other random 2016 Sox predictions other than final record If 7-6 or better on April 17, the Sox will contend. If 5-8 or worse on April 17, the Sox won't contend.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Apr 2, 2016 -> 09:04 AM) Murphy has always been underrated and he can DH and Shuck can still be on the bench. I'd prefer him to Sands and Ishikawa. Again, the Angels and Tribe, two teams with questionable OFs, don't want him. And he played for each last season. And then there's the clubhouse factor. These guys have worked hard all spring, and you dispatch them for a marginal castoff.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 2, 2016 -> 08:22 AM) Shuck didn't seem like that good of a defensive outfielder to me. Other than solid contact/on-base skills, I don't understand the love he gets around here. Would much rather have Murphy as our left-handed bench bat than Shuck. Well I assumed that's why he's here...he has so little pop that it can't be his bat. His OBP is usually respectable, but probably unsustainable if over-exposed. I don't see much point in the Loneys or Murphys. They aren't that good, they're aging, the worst OFs in baseball (Angels, Tribe) who have seen them recently have passed (re Murphy).
-
QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Apr 1, 2016 -> 09:20 AM) I was listening to the score yesterday and heard a few cubs fans saying that 95 wins would be disappointing. What the hell do they want? World series ring on a platter before the season starts? I can see their point. 40% of the NL is not even trying to win. 95 NL wins equals 87 AL wins.
-
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 2, 2016 -> 07:38 AM) Going with Shuck over Murphy is dumb. Need someone on the bench who can catch the ball in the outfield. Thus Shuck

I don't see the objection. They have 2 bench bats (plus Saladino): one hits left, once hits right. Saying there are 6 OF v 4 on others is deceptive, as those 6 OF also cover DH and backup 1B. I guess in total there is a righty tilt, but the lefty choices weren't there; and they can always make a change.
-
Sands has raked LH pitching in his limited appearances. Can play OF and 1B. Why not, considering the alternatives.
-
I didn't realize he was 32. He's only been around a few years; very late bloomer and the bloom didn't last long. Orioles were certainly generous financially to him.

How much would you pay to take Panda off of Boston's hands?
GreenSox replied to TheFutureIsNear's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Zero Bust in Boston We have a 3rd baseman...Panda can play no other position. If this isn't "hero worshiping", then what is it? -
Cut from the worst pitching staff in the AL, if not MLB. But the grass is always greener....

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Mar 29, 2016 -> 06:41 PM) My trade target is Reddick. That's the guy I want and hope the As trade him. We also have a history with Oakland as a trade partner. And not a successful one. I would like to think that they never would have traded for Lawrie had the Frazier trade come first. But this org. would trade Sanchez before Lawrie. I hope Ishikawa is up because the Sox think he can hit; not for this Robin clubhouse nonsense.

QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 28, 2016 -> 06:53 PM) Feel a little sorry for Saladino not being the starter, as well as Sanchez and Davidson...but it's nice to have some organizational depth in case of injury. Hope they all make the most of their opportunities. And we'll need Saladino this year and probably Sanchez next year. and if Davidson can really hit, him too. Hope they have make great progress in AAA. And heck, maybe Saladino starts.

Good lord.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Mar 25, 2016 -> 01:14 PM) No. Sands can. And Frazier can as well. Thanks And good. Didn't know about Frazier...that expands the 25th possibilities.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 24, 2016 -> 11:34 PM) Lineup (vs. RHP): 3. Travis Ishikawa (1B/LF/RF) (L) Is he the only one of the bevy of 25th man candidates who can play first?
